View From The Sky

Yesterday was the last day of classes for the semester, so all next week is finals, then I go home Friday afternoon. Wow, I can't believe my Freshman year of college is already done and over with. I'm going to sorely miss my friends over the summer. Maybe we can work something out to hang with each other during the break, but I got some really great friends here.

As such, one of my friends offered to take us on a little trip today for some serenity before our finals. We went to Sugarloaf Mountain, which as the name suggests, is pretty darn small for a mountain. I think the summit is only something like 1,282 feet. Regardless, after a bit of climbing, we got to the top for an absolutely spectacular view. I guess I'm just used to the more industrialized New Jersey than Maryland, but I may have appreciated it more than the rest. Nothing but trees and a few farms stretching off into what looked like another small mountain range. Off to one side I got a nice view of the Patomic River. There was a really nice wind up there, too. Watching the hawks flying around us was really awesome. Talk about inspirational.

Two of us almost broke some bones on the way back down, but it was worth it. :P We were up there for a good couple hours climbing rocks and enjoying the view. If you've never climbed a mountain before, even a dinky one like I did today, try and do it. Totally worth it for the view alone. Plus it's good exercise.

I'd say today was a day very well spent.
