I always hate it when I'm listening to some song and suddenly I understand the lyrics for what they really mean, not just what I assumed they meant from casual listening. It's always like "I've listened to this song hundreds of times... why haven't I picked up on that before?" It's worst when I know I've read the lyrics for the song online...

Anyway, in this context, I just noticed some background lyrics during the main chorus at the end of the song "Its the End of the World as We Know It" by REM. It's "Can I Have Some Time Alone?" I have truly, honestly, never recognized that before... and I think I remember reading about it somewhere and going "Naw, that's not in the lyrics."

I don't know what prompted me to recognize it... the song came up on my play list while I'm playing FreeCell at 2:30 in the morning after a long day... not my most perceptive time of day. Which brings into question why I've never quite noticed it before.

It's just like it took me five years to notice "emoticon". *face palm*
