Voting For C. I. R. C. L. E. Articles 42 & 93-98

Confederated Inter-Related Collaborative League of Epics

Once again I'd like to welcome everyone, now straight to more business.

The forty-second article proposed by RingMaster Zee is as follows:

RingMaster Zee hereby proposes that within "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe" there are Kanohi known as Cryalis (KRIGH-uh-liss), the Great Mask of Elemental Conversion, which allow the user to temporarily transform into a single aspect of their Element.

Examples would be a Toa of Lightning briefly becoming a "lightning bolt" or a Toa of Ice momentarily turning into "hail".

Now, feel free to discuss this proposal in this thread and then vote.

All in favor vote "AYE".

All opposed vote "NAY".

The ninety-third article proposed by Toa_Ausar is as follows:

Toa_Ausar hereby proposes that the following list of forty elementally distinct "Tribes of Matoran" be adopted as an official part of "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe", however it should be noted that it is possible that additional tribes may discovered at some point in the future.

Now, feel free to discuss this proposal in this thread and then vote.

All in favor vote "AYE".

All opposed vote "NAY".

The ninety-fourth article proposed by Kohila is as follows:

Kohila hereby proposes that within "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe" there is an intertwined dimension known as "The Shadow Realm", that is to say, the world between life and death that each and every being must travel through on their way to "The Underworld".

If a being is within "The Shadow Realm", they cannot be seen, felt, nor heard by anyone, other than another being who is wearing a Kanohi Great Rode or a Kanohi Great Elda, however they can mentally influence another being through sheer force of will if they truly wish to do so.

Aside from death, "The Shadow Realm" can only be accessed through use of a Kanohi Great Iden, Kanohi Great Olmak, or by a Toa of Spirits.

Now, feel free to discuss this proposal in this thread and then vote.

All in favor vote "AYE".

All opposed vote "NAY".

The ninety-fifth article proposed by Toa_Ausar is as follows:

Toa_Ausar hereby proposes that within "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe" there exists six islands collectively known as "The Ţuat" (zhoo-AT). Each of these six islands serves as the sole physical gateways into "The Shadow Realm".

There is a single "Ţuat" hidden within each one of the "Six Kingdoms" and the souls of all beings who die within a given Kingdom are transformed by the energies of death and thus travel to "The Ţuat" of that specific Kingdom in order to pass into the "The Shadow Realm". If a being within the Matoran Universe dies in an area that was not considered a part of any of the "Six Kingdoms", that is to say within the Domes of Artakha, Daxia, or Metru Nui, then they simply travel to the nearest of the six "Ţuat".

The six islands that make up "The Ţuat" are primarily home to Cu-Matoran, Ul-Matoran, Vo-Matoran, Xi-Matoran , Ye-Matoran , and Za-Matoran, furthermore all villagers from these six Tribes originally hail from one of the six "Ţuat".

Now, feel free to discuss this proposal in this thread and then vote.

All in favor vote "AYE".

All opposed vote "NAY".

The ninety-sixth article proposed by Kohila is as follows:

Kohila hereby proposes that with "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe" there exists a small shrine within the underground confines of the Isle of Yezo Nui that allows a deceased being who is lingering within "The Shadow Realm" to be reborn if they can mentally entice a living being through intense psychic persuasion to gather together a Kanohi Great Hau, along with three Heartlights carved from the chests of living and unwilling victims, in order to facilitate a ritual that will resurrect the deceased.

Influencing a living being is made easier if the deceased was originally a Ce-Matoran, or a being who wore a Kanohi Great Gikar, a Kanohi Great Komau, or a Kanohi Great Suletu in life.

Now, feel free to discuss this proposal in this thread and then vote.

All in favor vote "AYE".

All opposed vote "NAY".

The ninety-seventh article proposed by Toa_Ausar is as follows:

Toa_Ausar hereby proposes that the following Integrated Timeline be adopted as the official timeline of "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe", however it should be noted that the project remains ongoing, and will have to be brought to another vote in the future once additional events are added.

Now, feel free to discuss this proposal in this thread and then vote.

All in favor vote "AYE".

All opposed vote "NAY".

The ninety-eighth article proposed by Toa_Ausar is as follows:

Toa_Ausar hereby proposes that within "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe" the word "Uār" (oo-AYRH) shall henceforth be considered an adjective in the Matoran language meaning "free", that is to say "emancipated".

Now, feel free to discuss this proposal in this thread and then vote.

All in favor vote "AYE".

All opposed vote "NAY".

And with that said, I open this thread up for discussion on the various articles for the proposed enhancement of our group structure and joint storyline.

Please be sure to vote on all seven articles in this thread.

Also, note that this discussion and the corresponding voting will end at 1200 PST (Noon in the Pacific Time Zone) on Monday, June 1st, 2009 provided that at least 2/3 of C.I.R.C.L.E. Members have voted at that point.

Lastly, the C.I.R.C.L.E. Members will be notified of the results via the C.I.R.C.L.E. Results Overview & Discussion thread, however, when there are other blog threads where authors can vote on the proposals surrounding the details of C.I.R.C.L.E., that communication will still happen via PM.

Thanks.

UPDATE: Article 42 has been defeated with a total of

"FIVE & THREE-FIFTHS NAY VOTES TO FOUR & FOUR-FIFTHS AYE VOTES", next

Article 93 has passed with a total of "TEN AYE VOTES TO TWO NAY VOTES", plus

Articles 94, 95, & 96 have all passed with a total of "ELEVEN AYE VOTES TO TWO NAY VOTES" each,

meanwhile Articles 97 & 98 have both passed via "UNANIMOUS DECISION" and the polls are now closed.

As stated in the tribe list, im just annoyed at the fact ill have to go edit my epic to remove any and every mention of Rahi control which would mean it will take even longer for me to release it when i want to do it as soon as poosible.

This proposal is the discussion that you're saying didn't happen and honestly it took me less than twenty minutes to edit and account for all eight changes that were made from the list in all of my various writings, which is likely more than you have to edit, thus I don't imagine that it would take any more time than this argument has.

Why a Great Hau? Why three heartlights? Why nothing logical or reasonable like something personal of the deceased?

Again, it is my understanding that the reason is because the "Hau" is the "Symbol of Mata Nui" and the "Heartlights" are because "Three lives must be sacrificed for One to return", though I agree that there could be more logical things like personal items or a different Kanohi involved. :shrugs:

42: Undecided. I'm reluctant to approve this one because of the possibilities with certain elements. To note just one example out of several: If Article 93 is passed, then there will be Matoran of Anger, which could result in a Toa of Anger, and if such a Toa of Anger used such a Kanohi Cryalis, how exactly would he become an aspect of Anger? Nay. As Kohila pointed out below, there are beings that can use Kanohi but have no element. I don't like the idea of a Toa-exclusive mask.

93: Aye. Although a few of these prefixes would conflict with my epics, I'm merely part of the "MATORAN TRIBE" class, so I suppose that my series need not fully comply to this article.

94-96: Hard to say on these, since they get into religious territory and as such are very controversial. While I'd rather keep afterlife-related material out of this, I'm assuming that large parts of fellow C.I.R.C.L.E. members' epics probably depend on these articles, and as such will allow a reluctant aye to all three articles.

97-98: Aye to both, I have no problems with either.

Which is why I would prefer it if the Toa became a physical entity of their Element. I'm not sure why Em didn't change the wording when it was previously "Vetoed".

All of my nay votes here are final, I'm afraid. I haven't seen anything to convince me to vote aye really.

Mind telling us what would?

Article 42:

"AYE". I would also like ot answer a question that was aksed of me before in one of myt many discussions with Ausar. For Toa with Mental Based Powers, the mask will conver them into a free floating essence in the same form as Antidermis, practicing whatever mental power they control. Sch as a Toa of Rahi Control, would become that free-floating mass, but could jump between the minds of Rahi, controlling them. any further questions about this mask, I would like ot be asked before you NAY this mask.

Article 93:

"AYE", I see no unreasonable elements in there.

Article 94:

"AYE", personally, I like it. Adds a unique and dark twist to the CIRCLE universe if I do say so myself.

Article 95:

"AYE", again, another dark twist in the works. Certainly a great add-on to the story line.

Article 96:

"AYE", and so we wenter the dark world of resurrection by emans of the lives of the unwilling being taken to revive those undeserving of it.

Article 97:

"AYE", the Time Line is a testimony to all of the hard-work we put into our writing.

Article 98:

"AYE", I don't see why not, do you?

To begin with, my nay votes shouldn't be a large obstacle for the three articles, since all other votes are "aye" except for one "undecided" each.

Anyway, I am trying to avoid having to deal with the realm of death and coming or leaving it. Therefore, I can't see how I can be convinced to vote aye, since the entire articles revolve around the concept of a realm of death.

I dont like the idea either but why would someone propose it unless it had something to do with their epic/all our epics. <_<

Thats why i reluctantly voted Aye

I'd first like to cast my ballots:

I vote "NAY" to Article 42 because the power will not work for everyone who can wear a Kanohi.

I vote "AYE" to Articles 93-98 because of the effort put into them and their sheer ingeniousness. :D

Second, here's a better explanation for "The Shadow Realm" that shows almost no religious ties:

Within "The C.I.R.C.L.E. Universe", we know that there are three different parts of existence. The first is the physical world, where everything is how we perceive it. When a being dies, their spirit doesn't naturally pass like how we do. Instead, they enter a void very similar to "limbo". This state of existence has been named "The Shadow Realm". The state between life and death, a being's spirit lives in the physical world essentially as a ghost. Due to the loss of their physical body, however, they cannot affect the physical realm much at all without sheer exertion of willpower. The final stage of life is "The Underworld"; total leaving of the terrestrial plain and passing on to the afterlife. It is unknown at this time when and where the journey from "The Shadow Realm" to "The Underworld" occurs. As stated in recent Articles, there are two unnatural ways of cheating the rules.

One of those are "The Ţuat", six underground Kingdom capitals home to rare Matoran Tribes. Within each Ţuat are gateways from the physical realm to "The Shadow Realm" accessible by simply walking through it. However, using these portals only guarantee a one-way trip and the being cannot use the gateway to re-enter the physical realm. The second exception is the only way from "The Shadow Realm back to the physical world.

In the underground recesses of the Island of Yezo Nui, there lies a centuries-lost sanctum dedicated to the forces of life and death. This shrine holds the ability to bring a deceased to life once more through a precise execution of steps involving the forces of good and evil. If a spirit that is lingering within "The Shadow Realm" is able to will a being to do their bidding, they can be resurrected during a ceremony preformed at the shrine.

Hopefully this will help to reduce any doibt on the matter.

Considering how those "UNDECIDED" are mine, I'd very much like hear the opinion of the only person to vote "NAY."

I like the concept of a realm of death. In fact, I'd like to make a mention of it in my epic.

I dont like the idea either but why would someone propose it unless it had something to do with their epic/all our epics. <_<

I use to think like that. Then the Kanohi Shoopda came along.

First, remove the "When a being dies, their spirit doesn't naturally pass like how we do." That could be considered a religous tie and it's not needed.

Second, we have seen two instances where there has been resurrection. Takutanuva resurrecting Jaller and Matoro using the Ignika to resurrect Mata Nui. So, there are more than the two ways you stated and both are far more efficient than either the "Ţuat" or the "Shrine of Yezo Nui."

Third, by what you have said, "The Shadow Realm" is not a dimension like the articles suggest. It's really just a shadow-state existance, where the deceased's spirit remains bound to this plane of existance until passing on.

Two quick points:
  • First, I think it's safe to say that the only thing in the Matoran Universe that is more efficient than passing through the proposed "
Ţuat" into "The Shadow Realm" alive, is passing through the proposed "Ţuat" into "The Shadow Realm" dead.

Second, the way I would describe "The Shadow Realm" is as an overlapping reality that exists within the same dimension as the physical plain and thus is "intertwined" as

Kohilå described it. Furthermore, I think it helps to view "The Shadow Realm" as the location of a being whose imprint remains on their Kanohi and thus can be revived by a powerful enough being in the same manner as Jaller.I hope this helps you to make a decision.

You know i still dont get that Kanohi Shoopda Joke. Never understood it at all.

Ballom got the idea for the Kanohi Shupda from an altogether non-BIONICLE source and I allowed the joke to be posted for two reasons:

  1. The proposed power was something that any Toa could do, even without a specific mask.

It allowed me to discover which members were actually paying attention to what they were voting on and which members where just going through the motions.Unfortunately although many got the joke behind the concept, aside from myself I don't believe that anybody realized that a Toa can fire concentrated beams of Elemental Energy regardless of their choice of Kanohi, and some were simply going through the motions as I'd feared. :shrugs:

Aye to Article 42.

Nay to Article 93. I don't think there should be a need for that many different kinds of Matoran, any most, if not all, of the proposed matoran have their elements based off Makuta powers.

Nay to Article 94. In Bionicle, dead is dead.

Nay to Article 95. Dead is dead.

Nay to Article 96. Same reason above.

Aye to Article 97. It's good that there is a timeline.

Aye to Article 98.

Now, for future reference, the person who proposes the article should show us how to type the letters that are not on the keyboard, such as an A with and accent mark above it. Otherwise, what's the point in creating the words if we can't use them?

Link to comment
"UNDECIDED" on Article 95. My primary concern is the inclusion of the Matoran tribes, no Matoran would naturally wield these Elements. Unless their proximity to the "Tuats" caused them to mutate into Matoran with those Elements.

As I have previously said in regard to Article 95, it is precisely the proximity of "The Ţuat" to "The Shadow Realm" that limits the source of the six tribes in question to having originated solely on one of those six islands.

In short, if you'd like to think of it as an environmental mutation that resulted in the development of those six Elements due to their living on the precipice of "limbo", then that's fine with me, and I see no reason why that can't be the case. ;)
