Up
Just got back from seeing "Up" with my cousins, mom and brother. I have to confess that I find myself... disappointed.
When I saw some of the previews for this movie, I can honestly say that it was the first Disney/Pixar movie I genuinely had an interest in since The Incredibles. Cars never really looked that great, an neither did Ratatouille, though I actually liked that one once I saw it. WALL-E did look interesting, but I was far more into The Dark Knight at the time.
Still, this one looked particularly good, especially since it was the same director as The Incredibles, which I found absolutely hilarious. I especially wanted to see the highly amusing banter between the grumpy old man and the hyper-active annoying kid. But it seemed like all of those scenes were in the previews, leaving nothing new for the actual film. Granted, there were several parts where I laughed out loud in the theater. But it wasn't nearly as entertaining as I thought it'd be.
I guess what adds to that is that I've heard all kinds of hype from people who saw early screenings and stuff, claiming it to be Pixar's best film yet and how everyone who thought they couldn't top WALL-E were proven wrong with Up. So I guess I expected to be blown away, and was disappointed when I wasn't.
Not a bad movie at all, but I still put Star Trek on the top of my recommendations list.
