Glatorian Legends
Oh yes. We went to Toys R Us today and got all six. My brother built half of them, though, so I'll do brief reviews on the three that I built:
Kiina: Yes, she's tall and kinda lanky. However, her custom torso is so worth it. Made with two black "Y" pieces from the 2003 Makuta set, a Vahki leg, two Hordika necks and Metru hips, the only canister set I can think of with a more custom torso would be Pridak. Kiina's helmet is really, really cool, as is her limb armor -- they've got fins! Oh, and her trident is pretty sweet, too.
Stronius: Good God. Talk about scary looking. While building him, he actually looked pretty darn awkward. But once he is finished, he is one of the most menacing sets to date. Seriously, he rivals with the Makuta Phantoka in intimidating appearance. Very spiky all around: his torso armor, shoulder armor and thigh pads are full of sharpness, as is his massive club (which is two pieces). His helmet is frightening; I don't get the same mohawk impression as with the Kadin. Unlike his winter counterpart, Stronius uses Metru red as opposed to Mata red, which I think actually gives him a more menacing appearance. He uses the same Metru arm neck as Strakk and the Vorox, but since his chest armor juts out so much, putting his head down makes it look perfectly natural. Seriously, if you get any of the Legends for overall appearance and coolness, Stronius is your set. Needless to say, I'm thoroughly disappointed he won't be appearing in The Legend Reborn.
Mata Nui: The new Ignika is TINY. Seriously, probably the smallest mask/helmet ever. Also, yes, he is Keetorange. His Scarab Shield is pretty cool, though impractical as an actual shield. He and Kiina both use the new double socket joints, though Mata Nui uses them only with his arms. The sides that usually have three circular holes are blank and smooth, whereas the sides that were blank before have two circle holes and one + hole in the middle. Mata Nui's shield pieces in yellow look pretty sick, especially as shoulder armor. Again, not exactly practical, but intimidating, to say the least. The ankle guards look pretty awesome, but they have one major flaw: they swivel around like crazy, same on Ackar, as I understand. Mata Nui doesn't have a whole lot of new pieces, but several really awesome recolors in Keetorange: new fists, spiked Inika feet, Inika legs, Matoro Mahri shoulder pads, and the Krika/Onua Mistika chestplate. One of the best parts, though, is that there is not any single red or blue peg plainly visible.
So yeah, highly recommend them. Especially Stronius. And on that note, time to go help my aunt move. Let me know if you guys want some pictures of them!
