Final Fantasy Character Of The Week #6
Yeah a little late. Oops.
This week's character is Seifer from FF8.
Name: Seifer Almasy
Game: Final Fantasy VIII
Class: Balamb Garden Cadet (beginning); Sorceress' Knight (Later)
Birthplace: Unknown
Hometown: Balamb Garden
Seifer is the rival to the main protagonist Squall Leonhart. Like Squall, he also wields a gunblade, and a scar across his face (which was caused by Squall. Squall has a scar on his face from Seifer). Seifer is also stubborn, arrogant, and reckless.
Seifer grew up with the rest of the FF8 team (minus Rinoa) at the orphanage looked after by Matron (which was Sorceress Edea). Around the age of 7, he was enrolled at Balamb Garden to train to become a SeeD (which is like a soldier). The whole he was there, he was always getting on Squall's case. Their constant fighting led to a brutal fight, or training (which is seen in the beginning). Both struck blows at each other leaving a scar. He has taken the SeeD exam multiple times and failed it multiple times, due to always failing to obey orders.
Seifer can be played as a character for a brief period in the beginning of the game. He eventually leaves Balamb Garden to attack Vinzer Deling, President of Galbadia. It is also said that Seifer was executed soon after. However turns out he pledged allegiance to Sorceress Edea (who is Ultimecia) and became her Knight.
Seifer is then positioned as the "leader" of Galbadia and leads a battle against Balamb Garden (he also gives the command to nuke the Garden first, along with Trabia Garden)
After failing to protect the sorceress, he is then deemed as a failure by Ultimecia, however she gives him one last order, which is dig up the Lunatic Pandora. When the final battle in the Lunatic Pandora starts, Seifer is no longer seen until the end of the game, which gives a hint that he has become a good guy.
Seifer has 2 good friends, who are really his only friends. They are Raijin and Fujin. The 3 make up the Balamb Garden Disciplinary Committee.
Seifer wields the gunblade Hyperion, and his limit break is the Fire Cross.
Also in the game, Seifer takes out the summon Odin, who was attempting to use his Zantetsuken (which is instant KO). However Seifer reverses the attack somehow, and bisects Odin. Odin is later replaced by Gilgamesh.
