Now that I've got your attention, what's your opinion of the second person?

Dalyk thinks that Snoopy should refer to Snoopy in the second person more often than Dalyk does.

That's third person >>

You think that it's pretentious and kind of annoying and that it doesn't bring you any closer to making you feel like it's happening to you. You can only stand it in very short stories where it gets old pretty fast, and in Choose Your Own Adventure stories.

Chuck Norris refers to himself in 4th person

He refers to himself in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person all at once. That is 4th person.

:kaukau:I'm not a huge fan of second person at all. First and third are okay, but the Pumaman summed it up. The only thing I could add to his statement is that it also could work in a comedy, but then again, the last comedy I read in second person happened to be a short story, so I'm not sure if it was the genre or the length of the story that allowed the second person narrative to pass.

Another reason I feel annoyed by second person is that sometimes the writer will say something about you that isn't true, and their aware of that, so all the while there's absolutely no character development in the story. People want a main character with a personality who they can relate to and potentially call them by name proclaiming their awesomeness, like I can do with bonesiii's portrayal of Evil Lord Serverlord. When speaking in second person, you can't do anything unique with the reader.

Your Honor,

Emperor Kraggh
