For free, SUPERAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware in tandem come highly regarded. AVG is a bloated monster, apparently. I've run AVG, and the two mentioned above found spyware and viruses AVG didn't.

No program is perfect, that's why it's good to have multiple.

While these programs may be good, and this statement may be innocent enough, I just want to clear something up.

Multiple Anti-Virus program==BAD. That's not to say that an Anti-spyware/malware and a seperate antivirus are bad, but having multiple antivirus is terrible.

They fight with each other. A lot. Like having a "Hi I'm a PC" and "I'm a Mac" in your computer. 24/7

@Avast: I dislike programs that talk. I don't even use any system sound effects. Anyway, I think AVG is a little better.

@Combo: Maybe a little more hassle, but if it protects my system more effectively than AVG on its own, I'll go with it.

@Janus: I wouldn't have even considered using multiple AVs for exactly that reason, although it was just a gut instinct on my part.
