Everywhere else is getting snow, but here in Massachusetts, capital of cold weather, NO SNOW! WHY?! We're just getting rain and unseasonably warm weather......... GRAGH!

Here's one of my observations: Have you ever noticed that those people, like Ali & AJ (really lame Disney music duo), who tell you to be who you are and all that bunk are ordering you to disobey? "Be your own man!" "Yeah!" "Don't take any orders!" "I won't!" "Follow your own path like I do!" "I will!"

Seriously, it's weird. They say you should be yourself and whatever, and people follow their orders to disobey, which isn't really like it. It's a portrayal of products as being individual and that you can't be who you are if you don't buy it. If music and ads were truthful or at least just were outright with the hidden advertising methods, you'd hear songs or ads like this: "I use Pile-o-$#%& brand deodorant to express my individuality! And you're worth squat if you don't buy it because we said so and since we're promoting some sort of 'freedom' schtick, you have to obey our orders to disobey, except for disobeying me or the company!"

Or "Be yourself, blah blah blah, buy our music, yada yada yada, even if it sounds like nails on a chalkboard plus a nose-yodeling man with only one lung, etcetera etcetera, you're worth nothing unless you conform to the status quo and be different, but only our definition of the word, which means total and unwavering brand obediance and unquestioning purchase of anything we tell you to!"

I'm talking about companies like Disney, which have tried to package, regulate and market conformity under the name of 'being yourself', and sadly enough are succeeding with lame shows like 'Hannah Montana'. Blech.
