More Anthony Horowitz

I know at least a few of my readers here like the Alex Rider book series (though I fear I might have outgrown it, as I am not excited for Crocodile Tears*) by British author Anthony Horowitz. Upon realizing that outgrowing feeling, I started to wonder about his other works. I've done a little digging on Amazon and Wikipedia, but the only thing I can find that is not geared at the teenage audience would be a novel of his called Mindgame. Sounds like a cool story, so I might consider picking it up.

But I am here to ask if anyone knows of other adult fiction novels of his. I "don't" have time to read, but "when I do" I would like to pick up something of his eventually.

Any suggestions?

*In alternate discussion other than suggesting books, I feel that 1) Alex Rider should be at least 16 by now and 2) It should have ended with Ark Angel. (Now they're just milking it.)

They are milking the Alex Rider Series. The fact that they're making a story about Yassen is just insane. Didn't he die 4 books ago?

Hey, the story is still fresh. True, I felt Scorpia should of just died a back in Scorpia, but it's still good.

I do still like Alex Rider but I'm glad Crocodile Tears is the end. It was just getting dull.

It's not.

Nothing to worry about though. I've just outgrown the series. If the target audience will buy it, it sells, I guess.

Anybody hear have any suggestions for me?

Uh, yeah...

Like...

Well, I'm in the middle of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Also, Brave New World was great. (I've read Fellowship of the Ring but I have yet to pick up the second because I'm afraid it'll take me another 6 years to finish that. I don't want to hear about every little detail about every flower and tree and rock they pass...they just went by too slowly for me....)

And there's a whole list of "classics" I should read, like Alice's Adventures In Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass (So I can then read Looking Glass Wars), The Invisible Man, 1984...

But then there are books like Harry Potter which I greatly enjoy, and I want to finish the Inheritance Trilogy, and there are a bunch of Star Wars books I should read to become an even bigger fanboy. (Yes I know those aren't the respectable books you were thinking of. :P)

But generally as far as I can tell I don't want to read the big, detailed, "classic" books that deal with real life events that will never happen to me because seriously, Jane Austin lived over 100 years ago and I can't relate to that. The world is going downhill as it is I need my sci-fi/fantasy to escape. (Hmm...Howl's Moving Castle was a good read too!)

But then I was like "Hey, Horowitz writes 'adult' novels too doesn't he?" Although I've been reading the Alex Rider series between 7th and 12th grade.

No.

IDK what else to say...

I'm trying to figure out what you're getting at...

Wouldn't Brave New World count? And LotR? And I want to read Contact eventually...

Arpy's suggested Discworld, which reminds me I want to read a book titled Ringworld...

(Ooooh, and Ender's Game is on my list of things to read, but I guess that doesn't count with you. :P)

Well, I guess it sort of does.

I'm talking about everything from Charles Stross to Richard Morgan to Stephen Baxter.

You just give the impression of someone who's inside a shell of literature that consists of older way more popular works and novels for much younger adults. You need to just go to a bookstore, and pick up some covers on impulse.

I guess I kind of am. I have this list of things I need to read (IDK if they're "old" or not, but yeah I guess they're popular. And they would be old since I've had that list for a while...)

If I had more time to read I would like to try that impulse idea...which is why I'm thinking of picking up that Horowitz book I mentioned that seems to be adultish and a thriller. But since I don't have time I'll stick to Hitchhiker's Guide and such.

While we're recommending books, the Artemis Fowl series is pretty fantastic. Doesn't count as more adult-ish in any way, but adult books are sometimes kinda overrated.

If you really want to work your way into more adult novels, basically anything by Neil Gaiman is good, at least from my experience. I've read The Sandman series of graphic novels, Anansi Boys, American Gods, Neverwhere, and Stardust, plus possibly some others. That'd be a good direction to turn once you're done with all six books in the Hitchhiker's Trilogy.
