Well I Think I Set Off A Nerve

Friday afternoon. Did a little Christmas shopping earlier. Caught up on the internets and now I feel that this is a great chance to MOC a little hero/Toa I've been thinking about for a few weeks. Sounds like a good plan right?

Well I guess it was since I was building from about 4-10, aside from dinner.

My brother gets back from school at probably 5:30 (goes to my dad's office first and then goes home when he's done) and walks up to our room where I've spread myself, my pieces and my music-playing laptop all over the floor in front of the desk and door because...nevermind. He opens the door (or maybe it already was) and sees me and immediately grunts something, turns around, and throws his...history?...book to the ground. Sounds like he gives out a little wimper or something as well.

Turns out half a disassembled MOC was lying right where he puts his backpack right after school or something.

I hadn't counted on that. I figured that he wouldn't need the desk because it is a Friday afternoon and he probably would not be doing homework. (And if I was mistaken I would have relocated to my living room, where my sister was watching TV so I would not have been able to play my music, hence building in my bedroom.)

Granted, he shouldn't have gone crazy because I disrupted his schedule.

I am very organized and want everything to go as I plan it. Scheduled. Thinking a few steps ahead in life. But this right here, my brother's actions, was right out of TDK's The Joker's "according to plan" and if not then "everyone loses their minds."

He could have asked. (Though, unless he really needed to use the space I was occupying, I had every right to be there.)

Is he younger? Just use the seniority card. xP

Yeah he's younger.

And >.< it doesn't work that way.

Kinda. I could be all like "I'm back for a month deal with it."

lol

I prefer the use of veiled threats myself.

Smile uncomfortably much, say hello to him, hug him firmly, talk to him about his favourite pastime, and explain that your hobby is Lego, and casually suggest that if he has a problem with it, well, then... *insert imagination here* Then smile, pat him on the back, and walk away, leaving him flabbergasted and nervous.

Result? One very obedient brother who will not get in your way again, and a peace of mind of having worked things out, and one very happy EW. :)

Haha. If I had a younger brother, I would totally do that.

If any of my older brothers acted that condescending to me I'd probably hate them until they were six feet under, and probably beyond.

He'd probably had a bad day, and this just pushed a few things over the edge. As for the "I'm parked here for a month, kid, get over it." plan, that's also pretty bad. You'll end up with him happy when you leave, and you'll seem like you've moved on from him, and your whole family, and now are sort of past them. Just hangin' with your friends all the time, talking with them on the phone, that's how you'll look to him.

My brother didn't seem too excited to talk to me today either. Hmm...

I can't just say "deal with it" because that's not helping. He needs to talk with me.

As for the "explain to him my LEGO hobby," don't worry. He used to build, but has "moved on" I guess you could say. "Dark ages" perhaps? But it's not like he detests them. He just doesn't build anymore. It doesn't interest him, but he still enjoys BrickFair visits and whatnot. He knows I still like it.

He's looking at becoming an engineer, so I can only hope he picks them back up sooner or later.
