Why the flying fikou do english teachers always assign so many flippin' autobiographical pieces? They leave no room to the imagination.

You have it easy. I haven't written a creative writing piece for a grade in three years and counting. Since I'm in Honors World Literature, we write analytical essays that specifically focus on novels in a certain format that leaves absolutely no room for creativity.

The less room you're given for imagination, the more room you can make for it.

Oh geez that sounds violent.

That's why suddenly midway through your paper, you put a random story about the day Alexander Graham Bell had to fight a ninja.

Like, "Once upon a time, there was a man named Alexander Graham Bell. He was going to pick up some groceries at the store, only to find a ninja hidden in amongst the celery waiting to attack him. So, he defeated the ninja, since rotary phone that he just happened to be carrying with him are very convenient when wanting to inconspicuously hide your collapsible katana, and continued on with his day. The end."

Imagination shouldn´t be assigned to anyone anyway. It´s not something you can learn, after all. Just something you have.
