Sleep Computing

It's five in the morning. Drowsily, I sit up on my elbows, reach over to my desk, and turn on my computer.

Everything is louder when half-asleep (or all asleep?), so I was worried I'd wake up my roommate. Look over at his bed. Empty. Oh, ok, so he was going to stay up all night playing Mass Effect 2. No worries there.

Somehow I get past the GRUB and make it load Windows instead of my half-dead Ubuntu, and then even press a key so it doesn't scan the disk for errors that aren't there. Log-in screen, good enough, and I shut the lid and go back to sleep.

When I got back from class and went to my computer, I'm impressed I was even able to get through the hoops to turn on Windows and I wasn't just half-dreaming it as it turned on.

Why I didn't just hold down the power button, I don't know. Probably because I think that's a bad idea, even at 5 in the morning.
