I had this conversion but moments ago.

Me: hahahah hee

Me: so the Return of the King came on tv

Black Six: ok

Me: and I started watching it, then said to myself: "why bother watching the normal version interrupted with commercials when I can just pop in the commercial-free extended edition on dvd?"

Me: so I did so, and it just finished

Me: when I took the dvd out, the movie was still playing on tv

Me: now think about this

Me: the extended edition of return of the king has almost an hour more of footage, IIRC

Black Six: yep

Me: but there were so many commercials on the tv, I was able to play the entire extended edition between the first few and last two scenes on the broadcasted one

Black Six: that's a LOT of commercials

Me: that means there must have easily been over an hour of commercials

Me: anyway, I found that amusing

Black Six: I concur

Me: hm I should blog about it
