Price-to-parts Ratio

The usual 10¢ per part does not apply to BIONICLE or themes similar to it.

The reason should be fairly obvious; BIONICLE pieces are larger than many regular SYSTEM pieces. This takes less plastic to make than this.

Stop saying sets are "too expensive" or "not worth it" just because the ratio is "lower".

I agree with this. Like, though there's only like 14 or so pieces in the Av-toran/Agori sets, those pieces are huge. Compared to the Toa Mata, which were around the same price range.

I never knew people were complaining about it. In fact, I never even thought about there being a price-to-parts ratio.

So where were people ranting about it?

Ok, who's up to melt down Tahu Mata and Tahu Stars and compare how much the plastic weight? :P

Someone with an electronic balance/tri-beam balance, you should try this~

(without melting it first)

*Points at the Hero Factory topic essentially*

*Also points out half of the BIONICLE reviews by AFOLs complaining about the ratio*

That's completely tangent. Most of us are comparing HF (aka Bionicle 2010) to bionicle's standards. Almost every set from HF, including canisters, titans are vehicles has systematically less pieces, less value, lesser building experience and <= functions to the 2009 sets with the same price. The only exception would be the heroes which are as much of a rip off as the 2009 agori.

Yeah, it is ironic how although these pieces have less value and are less useful, they cost more to produce, thanks LEGO.

Number of pieces ≠ amount of plastic used. There are a bunch of large pieces that use more plastic than a bunch of tiny pins.

Value is in the eye of the beholder.

You are aware of the spiking cost of oil, no? I'm pretty sure LEGO didn't specifically request that they be raised, so I don't see why you're placing the blame solely on them.

You also seem to be under the impression that this is directed specifically at the HFhaters; it isn't.

Yes, yes, YES! Completely true!

In fact, I feel that the whole idea of a "piece per price" ratio is quite flawed. Or at least, doesn't work with modern Lego.
