Guessture

We had to do three gesture studies of objects from nature. Here are the things I drew, although I am not sure how well I did on this assignment. I also did about four other preliminary studies of the same objects, and these were the ones that turned out to be the best.

Can you guess what I drew?

Leaves (specifically maple or maple vine ?), shell with a bite out of it, and I think a flower? Or maybe it's a really funky rock. They're quite lovely, but you should try drawing the lights and shadows and the forms made by them as well instead of just going for a pure linear drawing. I like them, though! Are they going to be for an eventual final nature drawing?

They're fake leaves from a stand of vine, a broken shell, and a bulb of garlic. The examples the school has posted didn't indicate shadows so I was unsure about a lot of what we should do. This was just practice to understand the drawing process. We have a final nature drawing later on in the class I believe.

I know the Professor will probably have something to say about them. She is still replying to my previous modified contour hand.

This is looking good Jon. In the critique I've talked about the difference between 'exploratory' lines and 'contour' lines in a drawing like this.
