I'm pretty sure mp3's are okay.

Ok, here's what you do.

1. Use Audacity (or any other program you like) to get the sound file (mp3 format) to less than 300kb

2. Take the SD card out of your phone and put it into your computer (or use your converty-cord to plug your phone in)

3. Put the mp3 you made into the my_sounds folder on your phone

4. Disconnect your phone/put the card back in and find the sound in your sounds

5. Send it to yourself

6. Save the file as ringtone

And you're done If you don't have a plan that lets you send sounds as messages, the only other way I know of is a site that has forums =[
