Bc3: Tier 2 Wrap Up

Renewal

With my summer vacation here, why don't I present the last three of the Tier 2 Classes for BC3?

BC3: Upcoming Tier 2 Class List - Part 3:

1. Gunner: An upgraded Shooter, with an even greater emphasis on Speed and Offense. They'll nearly always get the first hit in. While Shooters had a broad focus on many aspects of Offense and status effects, Gunners ramp that up by focusing on multi attacks, using many attacks for powerful combos: where one attack fails, a Gunner can at least follow up immediately with many more hits. Combined with Off-Hand capability, with a secondary launcher attack, Gunners are incredible offensively. Very ideal for dealing with multiple enemies.

2. Guardian: The last of the special Tier 2 Classes, Guardians are a blend of Defender and Healer. Their focus is on Defense, with good Speed and HP. Guardians focus on support, boosting stats and healing themselves. However, Guardians shine in partner battles: they can extend their powerful support skills to their partner. Coupled with an offensive class, such as Warrior or Ranger, Guardians can form an unstoppable duo.

3. Protector: An upgraded Defender, with amplified Defense and HP. Protectors retain their strong tanking capabilities, with powerful Counter techniques. Yet the key aspect of their upgrade is the increased benefit in partner battles. Before, a Defender's Counter would be useless in a partner battle: the enemy could focus solely on the other player on the Defender's team, rendering Counter useless. By extending its tanking abilities as support in partner battles, the Protector truly lives up to its name, becoming a fearsome tank both alone and partnered up. Protectors are one of the powerful Tier 2 support classes, along with Guardian and Medic.

As always please put your thoughts and opinions in the comments!

Seeing all the classes, I think Hunter (which seems to fit best with my playstyle, pseudo-defensive [being just defensive enough to take a few hits, but using defensive moves and items like Bullet Time and the Hau to supplement this]) will be my Tier 2. Would the Gunner be better at this, or is my idea of Hunter correct?

Also, so the "base stats" (as in basics of each stat) of each class are as follows:

Tier 1:

Fighter:

HP: 2

Attack: 2

Defense: 1

Speed: 1

Defender:

HP: 2

Attack: 1

Defense: 2

Speed: 1

Healer:

HP: 1

Attack: 1

Defense: 2

Speed: 2

Shooter:

HP: 1

Attack: 2

Defense: 1

Speed: 2

Tier 2:

Warrior:

HP: 4

Attack: 4

Defense: 2

Speed: 2

Protector:

HP: 4

Attack: 2

Defense: 4

Speed: 2

Medic:

HP: 2

Attack: 2

Defense: 4

Speed: 4

Gunner:

HP: 2

Attack: 4

Defense: 2

Speed: 4

Lancer:

HP: 4

Attack: 3

Defense: 3

Speed: 2

Ranger:

HP: 3

Attack: 4

Defense: 2

Speed: 3

Guardian:

HP: 3

Attack: 2

Defense: 4

Speed: 3

Hunter:

HP: 2

Attack: 3

Defense: 3

Speed: 4

Alchemist (my class idea, listed in Tier 0 strategy):

HP: 3

Attack: 3

Defense: 3

Speed: 3

Would this (add base stats of two component classes to get the Tier 2 class's stats) be correct?

Hunter is basically what you described; fast, with offensive power, and some decent recovery. Gunner is basically high speed spam attacking: it hits hard, it hits fast, and it hits a lot. So Hunter would fit your style better, it seems.

You've described the Tier 1 'base stats' perfectly, Neya, but for Tier 2, the stats are a bit higher. I want to set the game on a quasi-exponential curve, to truly accent the power of the higher Ranks and Tiers. So your idea is correct in principle, just not the actual stats.

Is this a good chart? Focuses are closer to their stats.

Oh, and BTW, I replied. You now see my basic strategy in action.

And why is my weapon an Ice Spear? (My character is Air element.)

 Neya, you've officially put nearly as much effort as I have in designing the classes. I did basically the exact same thing you did, setting each class up with an appropriate strategy after that. Tier 3 is simply a further branching out from Tier 2, just as Tier 2 branches out from Tier 1. Well done ;) .

Still working on it  ; it's not a priority since you're not even Tier 2 yet. I'm stuck between just keeping it at 8 choices (like Tier 2), but stronger, or having more, with not much distinction between them. Lemme get back to you in a few months :P ...

Or if I decide to blow through to Tier Three quickly. =P

... Likely won't happen; but you get what I mean.

Say; just remembered; will there be any tournaments this time 'round?

Possibly, although considering the power gap from you and Neya to everyone else, it might be difficult: those were for live players only, remember? Or I could just throw in lots of excessively powerful NPCs :P .

Ah; right. =P

That could be an idea; or temporarily set everyone's stats to be the same as ours. =P

Though the excessively powerful NPCs would likely work as well. =P
