Direct-linking Bzpower Images

It's confusing, so here it is in a nutshell thanks to Ut and B6:

9:56:47 PM Utopia: Black?

9:56:52 PM Utopia: Quick question

9:56:56 PM Utopia: I remember you telling me long ago

9:59:06 PM Black Six: ...

9:59:17 PM Utopia: Oh, right the question, sorry.

9:59:43 PM Utopia: Ok, so I remember when there was a cover for Bionicle Legends#6, a member used BZP's image of it and linked to it, like directly linked to it

9:59:57 PM Utopia: I asked if it was ok to use BZP pictures on BZP itself, as most sites do for it anyway

10:00:00 PM Utopia: You said yea.

10:00:02 PM Utopia: Is this still true?

10:01:25 PM Black Six: yes

Utopia: So just in the same manner that other web sites use uploaded pictures on their site all over their site, on BZPower, you can, say, take the URL for the Hapori Tohu picture and be like: This is him, hope this helps, etc.

Black Six: pretty much

Wow, I didn't know that! :P

Seriously, though, how the heck did you get time to put on the dates of those things?

I gave him my log XD. On my messenger, the logs give the time as well.

P.S. - Yes, the Direct Linking topic isn't too clear about this. It says you can't directly link to BZP images, however, realize that to directly link means to take an image from one site and place it on another, stealing that site's bandwidth. This is BZP, so you can't really steal from yourself :P

There are exceptions, Utopia. E.g., you can't direct-link BZP images in your signature. Bionicle Rex mentions this in the Adding Images to Signatures topic: "BZ is NOT an image hosting site, and any sigs using images linked from BZ will be dealt with accordingly."

Obviously, you're not direct-linking a smilie if you use it in a post, and what you said about linking to Hapori Tohu in a post makes sense; but you can't direct-link the same image of Hapori Tohu in your signature unless you move it to an image hosting site.

That's why I'm wondering how this policy applies to blogs. It would be good if this could be clarified in the Blog Alert Q&A. When can you use a BZP image directly in your blog, and when do you need to move it to your own image hosting site first?

Hmm... I see that point now -- interesting that perhaps I'm getting two totally different final words here :P. Well I'm not sure how it fits with blogs either, but I'll let Nukky deal with that :P
