Alien Robots
Still brainstorming their culture. Cross my fingers and hope I'll be motivated to make at least a chapter in this as a comic.
Bionoids
The Bionoids were once bipedal organisms that became so advanced, they achieved technological singularity. Shedding their previous inferior forms, they transcended into a homogeneous mixture of organic and inorganic lifeform with a prolonged lifespan. With such a long lifespan, they lost the ability to reproduce, and merely create more to replace the broken and the dying. The current generation has no memories of their previous forms. Upon a certain age their "blank" forms changes into unique forms and shapes, proof of their individuality. During this change, celebrations were held to welcome their new identities.
These Bionoids have a skeleton interlaced with carbon-steel fibers as an epidermis. The epidermis excrete exoskeleton-like plating to protect their frail skin, which is easily prone to break by a strong outside force. The Bionoids frequently “groom” themselves by buffing their growing natural armor and polishing it with a native grounded nut paste.
Their diets consist of a heavy iron content from their native food sources. Most of these sustenance can literary cause iron poisoning in humans. They only eat once every seven days in their home world.
Their unique communication requires the flickering light of their eyes. Because they flicker so fast, a human eye sees them as continuously glowing. They use their mouths to consume food for energy, and they use their "ears" to listen for danger. Their written language is like a combined form of morse code and the arabic alphabet. They have a separate sound box that emits a song-like hum along their flickering to convey emotions.
The Bionoids live on a massive ring-like archipelago, separated by by the four factions: Teios, Gaios, Leos, and Neos. Each factions are protected and managed by two Praetors: the Primary and the Secondary.
The Primary usually travels to engage in political affairs to understand the needs and wants of each faction. The Secondary stays behind to manage the needs and wants of his/her people. The term Praetor was coined by a stranded human visitor named Dakari Carter. They had their own way of explaining it (the explanation was lost in translation), but generally they are capable to resolve diplomatic affairs in times of peace or to prepare for combat in times of war.
Transfer mate are basically the one chosen to link with the chooser. Their neural links are usually compatible enough to transfer, copy, and store data. Doing so clears the cache in their systems, so they can continue to function at peak performance. However, being transfer mate comes with a price of dependency on one another with frequent copulations. Losing a transfer mate may cause dire malfunctions in their neural systems.
Teios. The central hub is on an ancient unused satellite dish resting on an extinct volcano. Due to the native Teios' affinity to high energy output such as pyrokenetics and astrokenetics, they consume more carbon-based foods than iron-based, warping their exo-skeleton to a smooth and organic form. However, the foreign look is considered undesirable as a transfer mate by the other factions.
Gaios. The city lies deep inside a series of hollowed icebergs. Recent events instilled wearing clothing for all citizens, hiding their mechanical bodies from the eyes of the Primary Praetor. Gaios are capable of deep sea exploration as well as function at peak performance in freezing temperatures due to their low organic/inorganic ratio.
Leos Most of the landforms are suspended in the sky by anti-gravity cores bounded to the earth by massive sky trees. Most of the land is reserved for many native species. The Primary Praetor protects Leos and the inhabitants within with great zeal.
Neos Neos is the largest land form out of all the four factions. It also contains the largest iron content within the soil. Growing iron-based crops is ideal, and most of the other factions rely on Neos to feed them. Most of the land is typically a farmland, with the main town by the port.
