Though the movies weren't as good as the books, both were still great.

I have yet to find a case where this is the opposite.

I should get around to reading a series like this. I have The Hobbit lying around here somewhere, although that's not really a part of the LoTR series I don't think.

I highly suggest you read The Hobbit first, though. I provides a good amount of insight behind LoTR itself.

Seriously. My older brother is a total Middle Earth lore-master. I have yet to actually ask him a question about it that he can't answer (Ok, I got him once when I asked him what Turin's prototype name was)

I even have a Middle Earth dictionary..............

I'm hopeless......
