The Ipad Is Killing Netbooks

So, remember when the iPad came out I ranted about how poor an idea it was and how it's an ill thought-out entry to the netbook market?

It's currently fighting a winning battle against netbooks.

And after trying one I can see why. As much as I hate to say it, they're awesome. Expensive and impractical, but awesome.

Cool, but I cannot imagining spending so much money on one. I could buy a netbook and still have plenty to put away for college, a charity, Sonic--so many more practical things.

but I'm a lameo for not being attracted to apple all that much.

I find the idea of netbooks a bit ridiculous and only handy for two occasions: Travel and business. So unless you work in an office where you need to commute to or are going round the world, I see no reason not to go with a normal laptop ^^

That's a good thing.

Personally I don't get netbooks OR tablets. Why not just get a laptop?

I'd rather a WindowsPad so I could play shooters and stuff.

how are you going to play real games on a touchscreen

The man has a point; real PC games (expecially shooters) typically use keyboard shortcuts; without a GUI and PUI overhaul, most Windows games would stink on a WindowsPad.

you could just plug a 360 pad in for most stuff

good luck with rts' tho

Now, I think a touch screen RTS would be EPIC; expecially on Microsoft's big touch table thing. Am I the only person who gets giddy thinking about being able to move units with a flick of your hand and being able to view the entire battlefield on a table?

Just makes me think of all those sci-fi movies where the commanders are looking at their holographic battle displays and giving orders via moving them. Granted those were B movies but hey.

I'm pretty sure the R.U.S.E. trailer is exactly what you're thinking of. Even if you haven't seen it, your idea of a touchscreen RTS fits the trailer to a T.
