Bs01 Contests Update

Erebus

Well, the Varian contest is almost done. Just two days ago, I sent a PM asking GregF to read the winner's entry, but his wife just delivered their first child (congrats Greg and Jackina! :D), so it's going to be a while until he reads it.

In the meantime, we're thinking about our future contests. Usually, our order of contests is MOC, then story, then MOC, then story, etc. Since the Varian contest was a story one, we might try out a MOC contest. We already have an idea for one, but we need approval from GregF first. Then we'll ask you guys if you want to see it done.

There's also a chance of skipping a MOC contest altogether and just do another story contest. We have some great ideas for this, and the staff are debating on which ones to present to GregF for approval. Some are ideas that we have read from the forums; others are our own ideas. We'll poll it for you guys for you to choose or throw out once GregF replies.

We actually have one idea ready to be polled, but the staff is discussing about it. It's one that GregF came up for us.

I personally thing there shouldn't be any more contests. Not everything has to be canonized, and leaving some stuff to be mystery is fine.

I believe a short story contest is a better idea, personally. More people could get involved with it because MOCing for some people isn't exactly easy; they could get discouraged at it. Plus, I think short story contests allow people to be more creative. It actually may be a good idea to do both kinds of contests. That way if by some chance a few people don't feel like writing a story they could take part in a MOC contest, then. But, if I would prefer one over the other; definitely a short story contest.

Basically this -- I'd rather they just be normal contests. But since there is going to be another contest, I vote for short stories again.

I'm for no contests as much as you guys are, but they're going to happen one way or another, unfortunately.

That sounds really weird. You won the Core War short story contest, but don't like contests that well? Why did you join, then? Not to get me wrong, I'm not mad or anything, it just came off as a little weird that someone who entered a short story contest, and won, but doesn't really care for contests. Did I miss something?
