He did about the same, except he had a lot more strikeouts and fewer runs. Even so, the Yankees didn't need Matsui--they had what they needed in New York as far as hitting goes. What they need is pitching, which has most New York fans thinking Cliff Lee in pinstripes, while the rest of the MLB is hoping Lee will go anywhere but NYC. As am I, but it's more because I'm sick of hearing Yankee fans brag about how Lee will be in NY next year. It wasn't a done deal at the deadline, it's not a done deal now. The good thing is that if Cliff wins the WS with Texas, he'll probably want to stay.
