You know how people always misuse irony and say it instead of coincidental?

 

They're doing it right.

 

The irony isn't in what they're pointing out - The irony is in them misusing the phrase to mean coincidental. That's ironic.

One of my pet-peeves is when people say ironic when they mean sarcastic.

They might be right, I'm not quite sure, but it still bothers me.
