Steampunk Wip
I've never done anything steampunk. I've barely made minifigs for the theme (like my steampunk Abraham Lincoln).
So I tried my hand at a, well, this:
I've already gotten some suggestions from a friend, which I agree with:
I really like that big asymmetrical shoulder ideaMaybe, scrap the blue saw, move the claw/blade idea to the left arm and go crazy with the shoulder for that arm…maybe make it look like a huge armored area or something.
Then add a little right arm, maybe long, like the Doc Ock minifig arms or something
Then you can make the legs stumpy and almost comical (it IS steampunk, after all...)
you just gotta keep a few things in mind…Steampunk is all about crazy stuff, so the more absurd your contraption is the more it fits into the whole "unbelievably believable" idea behind Steampunk stuff.
Now, if this were more Victorian SciFi it'd be more sensible to have everything all proportional and such, but Steampunk tends to be like the crazy mad-scientist ideology of VicSciFi
(That's what I'm getting from the crazy pirate-goggled minifig at least)
I might add a shoulder-mounted cannon. I definitely need to fix the legs--the first type I had with T-bars and Technic 1x3 beams were too loose. The left arm also needs to be fixed up and look more menacing.
This instead of an essay.
