Blackout

I don't know if any of you are familiar with the Newsflesh trilogy, by Mira Grant; it's a trilogy focusing on a group of journalists (bloggers) in a post-zombie-apocalypse society. It's got realistic near-future tech. It's got news reporting. It's got politics, and I mean campaign politics, not just government conspiracies and the like (though there's the fair share of those as well). It's got multiple perspectives. It's got zombies by the truckload.

In short, it was written for me.

The third and final book, Blackout, was just released, and I managed to grab a copy while I was out today. If you need me, I'll be reading it, and then feeling inadequate about my writing abilities.

Oh, Blackout! ...

Yeah, I've never heard of it. XD

Sounds interesting, though. Not sure if it's my cup of tea, however (not much for politics or news reports... Unless it's Legend of Korra. Heck, elemental powers makes everything better).

Well, I'm a sucker for journalist characters, and the protagonists run a newsblog. The first book is fun (to me, at least) because the main characters are shadowing a presidential candidate during his campaign in this post-zombie (well, the zombies are still around) America, and zombies + politics = fun in my twisted head. The second book is less politics and more government agencies and stuff like that, but bear in mind before you fall asleep all this is interspersed with zombies and zombie conspiracies (eg. conspiracies involving zombies, not conspiracies made by the zombies... unless this last book throws a curveball), so it's pretty fast-paced and interesting.

(Also: in the process of writing this comment I reached that point where "zombie" starting looking really weird. You know, how any word does if you see/say it too often.)

This sounds incredibly interesting. I love The Walking Dead, stories about journalists are always cool (must be the writer in me, lol), and I absolutely love politics. I will definitely have to check this series out if I can -- thanks for the recommendation!
