Argetlam

Nope, not Ta-Su-Xai, but the "Eragon" movie.

It's not so bad when you watch it expecting to be disappointed (figure that one out why don't you). Basically, I had heard they ruined it, and I already knew some of the flaws. Details follow.

  • Look of the Dragons
  • Dislikes:
  • Ra'zac don't get much time
  • Saphira's voice is wrong. But I doubt I could have been happy with it at all, since it's pretty much not supposed to be actually heard so much as understood. Which would be hard in a movie. So yeah...
  • Arya is acting way too much like she likes Eragon in a romantic way. She's all over him. It's just not the real Arya. "Oh, Eragon, the people are spreading stories about you!!!! :D  " *cough*

Callow, young, blonde-headed farm boy destined to save the world from the evil Empire by joining an ancient and long-dead order of peacekeepers. No, I'm not talking about Luke Skywalker. I'm talking about the stupidest, most self-centred hero in the history of storytelling—in fact, the very definition of a Gary Stu.

Quote from a site that reviews bad movies. And that's just the beginning of it. :P

Speaking of which, Eragon got a 200-something on a Marty-Stu test in which 50 was really bad. Aahahaha!

You had me scared with the title. I didn't know what to expect, especially since I'll be Argetlam again in 10 days.

I watched the movie before I read the book, which was strategy move by me to keep myself from becoming disappointed in it. When viewed as a "movie", Eragon was quite the thriller; I enjoyed it immensely. After reading the book and then watching the movie again, I saw how bad it had been. After the movie Eragon, you think that Arya and Eragon have it made. You think that they'll get together and be happy. After reading the book Eragon, and especially Eldest, you get the impression that Arya hates Eragon with a passion. And then with what happened to Murtagh in Eldest... ugh, a second movie would be disastrous.

I don't blame Arya; I would boot Eragon too. Of course, then again, he's the only one who's single-handedly proved that you can lie in the Ancient Language. Anyone who's read Eragon's talks with Arya in Eldest, keeping in mind that they're all in Elvish, will know what I'm talking about.

Eragon: Don't worry, I won't follow you anymore.

*Arya walks away*

*Eragon follows*

Eragon: D'oooooh...Pwitty...

Well, one must also take into consideration the sheer size of the book that they had to compress. I actually thought the movie was pretty good, not as good as the book, of course. And they actually, IMO, improved the Ra'zac in the movie....let's compare-Giant insects in coats or black-wrapped mummies with insects crawling all over them, with blades that come out of their wrists. I pick mummies every time. :D

What if you didn't like the book too much... then is the movie worth it?

The movie is worth seeing no matter what, but if you expect it to be like the book, you'll end up kinda disappointed.

...And why didn't I notice you changed your name? :P

My friend took his online name "EbrithilHefthyn" from Eragon...

...What does that mean, again?

Nah. I read the book and hated the movie for movie reasons. They followed the book some, and I was bugged by how it wasn't like the book in places where it could have been (sometimes there are things that can't be done for movies).

What I didn't like about the movie was there was little character development, especially when a new character popped in, they moved around too much, so consequently there was either little plot development or a rush of plot, and when they should have explained something they didn't. It also makes no sense in how Saphira just grows by getting hit by lightening in the clouds. Lame.

Yeah, good book, horrible movie. And I rant. (My friends were talking about movies, and they said "on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being Eragon..."

Yeah, it sucked.

Me and my sister just watched it to make fun of it.

It's like modern Mystery Science Theater junk.

I didn't much like the book either. I read the first two, and I really liked them when I was reading them.
After I finished, however, I realized how flawed and poorly written they were. I'm not really sure why I liked them while I was reading them though... who knows?
