  1. IC: Laer'dus

Laer'dus walks down the street glancing at the seemingly abandoned buildings. He knew that anyone with money or governmental weight resided inside the mountain, and despite that, it still intrigued Laer'dus. And then he saw it. Among various abandoned market tents sat a Toa of ice with furs of varying shapes and sizes. Laer'dus blinks. A mirage? A hallucination? could my eyes be deceiving me? He stared at the enigma for a moment, then figured he'd humor it.

The steltian approaches the market stall.

  2. IC: Teclorus

Before the group is out the door the matoran speaks up.

"say, where might you be going? As sick of the weather as I am, I'm also awfully bored."

  3. IC: Teclorus

"Me? twist? Why I don't know! I just assumed you all had gotten to like the weather and figured that I'd 'spread the love'!" *that was all sarcasm* He pauses, then looks up at Tekro "At least somebody is trying to do something about it!" *that wasn't*

OOC:Sorry that I'm slow to reply. Took a shower.

  4. OOC: I'm launching a new character now thought I'd do everyone here the justice of giving you a spoiler with his profile in it.

    Name: Teclorus
Species and Gender: male, Matoran of Iron
Appearance: A well built gunmetal grey and burnt orange matoran with a mechanical claw instead of a lower right arm. His armor is scarred and rusted as if it's been through a few battles and a year of disrepair.(armor is rusted due to almost constant exposure to moisture, scars are from... well, just what they look like.) His mechanical claw emanates a neon green light and has a caution tape-esque pattern along parts of it. Otherwise, it's bronze and silvery. His mask has a prominent scar running over the left eye. His left eye is a faded greyish-green. His right eye however, is a shocking bright neon green (same color as his claw glows.)
Kanohi: Gunmetal grey Noble Kakama. (Photok's version)
Weapons: Elemental enhancement glove. (It's the claw thing). Basically gives him access to his locked elemental abilities. This is still limited, and is nowhere near the power of a Toa's, but it still makes him formidable. As well as that, he carries a small retractable blade and a package of shrapnel bombs (and matches to light them).
Gear: some small ice picks for climbing and cutting. a heavy coat with pockets to store all of his stuff.
Abilities, Powers, and Skills: Well,he has limited control over iron, he is pretty strong for a matoran, and is trained in various "martial arts" of the matoran universe. As per Otter's request, the specifics of "limited iron power" are that he can manipulate armor through direct contact, can detect veins of iron hidden or underground, and mold iron into shapes.
Personality: He tends to be rather hopeful. In his opinion, if something good can happen, it will eventually. He has a certain hate for the current situation, and is radically in support of anyone who challenges the status quo. However, he has an underlying depression that has a tendency of showing itself in the worst of times.
Weaknesses: First of all, he is a Matoran, and can let his courage get ahead of himself. This often gets him into predicaments that he can't get out of because of his size and lack of full elemental abilities.
Biography: Teclorus has lived on the island for as long as he can remember. Before the coming of winter, he lived a simple, happy life working at the smelter and on a Vuata Maca farm. The work was hard, but he was paid well and enjoyed himself both at work and on break. When winter struck, the tropical Vuata Maca trees couldn't make it in the cold weather, and didn't grow indoors, so the farm closed. Not too long after, the smeltery, which used power from the Vuata Maca fruits, was shut down from lack of power. Teclorus was devastated; everything he had ever worked on was gone within a year. Depressed and unemployed, Teclorus needed someone to blame for his misfortune, and a reason to live for. When Ko-matoran began exploiting the Ta-Kardans, Teclorus found his scapegoats. He decided that the wintery conditions MUST have been their fault! Teclorus decided he was going to start a revolution. It started with a neighborhood meeting in his section of Ta-Karda. Teclorus explained that the Ko-Matoran were benefiting way too much off of the other groups' misery and seeing as many others had similar doubts, that rallied with him. after a year or two of preaching and spreading the word, he led a riot on the Administrative Palace. Unfortunately for Teclorus, his little revolution was short lived seeing as the rioters were predominantly matoran. Teclorus was put on trial and ended up being banished from Ko-Metru.(this states that if he is found anywhere within city limits, he will be apprehended, and can be killed if necessary.) In the following years, he's supported whatever little revolts brew up and has done his best to help the people of Ta-Karda.(within this time frame, his elemental enhancement glove came into his possession) Currently, he expects the government to simply allow Ta-Karda to be attacked head on by the Frostelus.

Ok, now, back to the RPG

    IC: Teclorus {outside the icicle inn}

*The metallic grey and orange matoran bursts in without closing the door(lets it shut itself.), after receiving a stern look from the bartender, he decides to sit down and order a drink.

-at this point everyone gets a genuine chill

OOC: If you are at the Icicle in, you probably aren't too terribly happy with Teclorus at this point. He's kind of a regular at the inn, but you may or may not know him. Tekro, this is probably a good time to offer some of those jackets! XD

  5. Hmm...

I don't know that I'm too keen on giving him a Fe-element version of the Earth claw, but if you can explain what control it gives him better (like, what he can do with it), and put that in the Abilities, Powers, and Skills section, I might bite. As it stands, that section mentioned is a bit short...And, without knowing just what all control it gives him, again, I'm just not keen on approving it.

Ok, I can do specifics. He can manipulate relatively small amounts of iron (so, he could potentially turn someone's sword into scrap), he could potentially weigh down small portions of iron armor, he can detect veins of iron in the ground, and he can easily mold pieces of scrap iron into certain shapes. If that much is accepted, then I will copy and paste that into the abilities section. If not, PM me what I need to change.

  6. New character! Huzzah!

The Bionicle reference is there and gone in the blink of any eye - it's not really that important, just nice to see.

Important or not I still wanna know. -_-

    Pleaaaase based Black Six god.

    Okay fine, spoilers ahead...

There's a part where Vitruvius is describing how the LEGO world used to be until Lord Business put up walls between the different lands to separate them. At one point, he starts listing different lands and one of them is Bionicle. You briefly see one of the classic pictures of the Toa Mata before he moves on to the next land.

    That's Awesome! :ahhh:

  8. Quick question (and I'm asking this here so that it may be a point of reference for anyone else who has this question); What is the currency, and what can you buy for a certain amount of money?

  9. IC: Laer'dus

The meeting commences and no sign of Kova. (one of the council members sends a messenger to find Toa Kova, but he isn't at his dwelling.)

Ideas are tossed around, but little conclusions are drawn. I might as well keep my ideas to myself. Laer'dus thinks to himself... Nothing will become of this meeting unless Kova shows up.

    OOC:

I'm pretty much talking to myself at this point. :(

Nobody but Otter and Yoko are with the Ko-Matoran Government, and they are off in their own sidestory. I suppose I'll create a new character to get in on the action at the Icicle Inn. :P

  10. IC: Laer'dus

The Steltian begins to pace. "pacing..." He, once again, thinks out loud "Helps me think, but more importantly, fuels my kinetic energy converter..."

Where is Kova? For such a distressed leader, he certainly isn't prompt. Pausing as if he reached a conclusion, Laer'dus stops pacing. Perhaps he isn't distressed! I wonder where he is now...

A few council members arrive early and Laer'dus greets them. The guards then open the doors to the main hall and all of the early arrivals (including Laer'dus) enter.

    OOC:

I have a slight curiosity that was never truly explained in the OP. When and where exactly is this set? Is it in the MU? is it somewhere in the ocean that was Aqua Magna (after the reformation)? Is it just out on Aqua Magna before the events in Karda-Nui?

  11. IC: Laer'dus

Laer'dus sits in silence outside of the Administrative Palace. It's like him to show up early.

His mind was on the Frostelus, as it had been for the last week. "Curious little subjects..." he thought out loud. Laer'dus had a theory about the Frostelus; as part of their nature, the creatures disliked heat, and there had to be a reason they were closing in on Ta-Karda. Perhaps it's the last bits of fuel or perhaps it's the inhabitants themselves... Regardless of which(or perhaps something else entirely), Multiple tribes of Frostelus attacking Ta Karda simultaneously could be catastrophic.

Not that it would disappoint Laer'dus in the slightest. *Laer'dus snickers to himself* Catastrophic events never cease to amuse...

OOC: I'm open for interaction. Perhaps a council meeting for how to deal with Frostelus?

  12. Aside from the fact that I fail to see how a lower-class Steltian could be so old when canonically they were created after the Matoran were, and that permafrost wouldn't make a good weapon, Approved.

But don't try to manipulate the government without running things by me first. xP

Point taken. I will PM you before I do anything too radical.

  13. Name: Laer'dus

    Species and Gender: Male Krekkan/Steltian
Appearance: Laer'dus looks very similar to Krekka for obvious reasons, but instead of blue he has a lighter color.(kind of like the azure color that lego uses today). Additionally, there are orange tubes stemming from his back that link to his extremities. these are to conduct heat from his personal heater. Speaking of which, that is a turbine-like structure on his back(think Rhotuka launcher in Web of shadows). His heat trapping outer armor is an iridescent silver-white color and covers most of his body. Lastly, his eyes are a shimmering bright blue.
    Kanohi: none :)
Weapons: Often carries a trusty ice saber at his side. Why an ice saber? Because he enjoys the confused look on the masks of the guards he walks by. The blade itself is made of the strongest permafrost from the mountains' peaks, and thus only warriors of ice can even bear to hold such a cold weapon, but Laer'dus uses Vortixx-made internal warmth gloves to compensate for it's temperature.
Gear: Internal warmth gloves, Heat-trapping armor with a built in personal heater(powered by a kinetic energy converter), and a handy blowtorch.
Abilities, Powers, and Skills: Due to his immense size, Laer'dus is physically strong and capable, but not extraordinarily for his species. Laer'dus' true power lies in his mind. He is highly intelligent and has an almost seamless memory(his earliest memory is being awakened for the first time by a strange hooded figure, but I won't put that into play unless necessary). Additionally, he dabbles in hypnotism and other mental tricks to make himself seem more charismatic than he actually is.
Personality: Laer'dus holds himself higher than others because of his intellect, and constantly needs to prove to himself that his ego is justified. He will constantly attempt to out-word, out-wit, and out-manner everyone he comes in contact with. The best way to tell if he "likes" you is to see how blatantly his superiority complex shows through. If it's terribly obvious that he is trying to show you up, then he finds you interesting. If he doesn't feel the need to be wordy or correct you on everything, he finds you rather boring. As for alignment, he externally supports the Ko-Matoran government and does his best to seep through the ranks using his intellect and fabricated charm. However, he is riddled with ulterior motives. Seeing life as an experiment, many of the things he does are to find out what would occur if "blank" were to happen, and "blank" might not be so good for the Ko-Matoran establishment.
Weaknesses: He becomes frustrated easily, whether he shows it or not(The things that frustrate him the most are the ignorance of others and when things don't go his way). Also, he doesn't really have any combat-worthy powers aside from brute strength and his blade.
Biography: Laer'dus is as old, if not older than anyone else from the matoran universe. He lived a luxurious life on Stelt, manipulating others to do his bidding(which almost always caused chaos in one way or another.) and preforming his little "life experiments". One day, the chaos he created caught up with him in the form of a riot. Angry rioters burned down his manor and killed his servants. In the end, the current high council of Stelt found him guilty of conspiracy, treason, and indirectly causing countless deaths. The punishment was death, but Laer'dus charm-spoke his way into the lighter sentence of exile and was cast out into the open ocean with a personal sea-faring vessel and a generous helping of fine foods and good supplies. He eventually reached what would be Ko-Nui and laid low in the mountains with the Ko-Matoran. Initially, the Ko-matoran were rightfully suspicious of Laer'dus, being the beastly behemoth that he is, but after helping with spacial organization, civil works, community events, and minor governmental decisions, Laer'dus became a prized community member. It was quite obvious how much Laer'dus enjoyed the freeze when it came. He loved how the Ko-Matoran began exploiting the other groups, and thoroughly enjoyed the multitude of "social experiments" he could preform with this new condition. Since then, he has spent his time slipping through the ranks and making "friends" with key figures in the Ko-Matoran government. That brings us to today! :D

As an extra note, this will be the first time I participate in one of these contest RPGs. So if I suck at it, let me know! :D

Pretty sure only the queen and nest fell into acid(and the queen may have caught her fall). Even yet, that's mass infanticide. Hero Factory better hope they have good lawyers!

I say this because the other creatures backed out of the cavern before the nest was shot down. I really don't know how Antropolis city feels safe because they put a sewer lid on a hole that led to the caves when the beasts are obviously capable of burrowing (there's a designated breed called "Tunneler Beast").

The lid wasn't meant to keep the beasts in, it was supposed to keep the citizens out. From what I've read (and correct me if I'm wrong, because I haven't watched the episode myself), the digging project was the whole reason the beasts were attacking the surface in the first place. By cancelling the digging project and sealing the tunnel entrance, they're making it so that the underground beasts and surface dwellers could live peacefully without interfering with one another.

I suppose that's a nice take on it, but don't you think the beasts would be angry at the surface dwellers for the death of their queen and destruction of their nest?

Reviewing the scene, you may be right; only the Queen is seen visibly falling down into the acid.

However, the cavern IS suspiciously empty afterwards, and, assuming this species works like ants or bees, without the queen, they're doomed to extinction regardless.

Well, I don't think we can assume they work like ants or bees, because we know that all the larger beasts are mutated from identical jumpers. So there's a possibility one of the jumpers could mutate into a Queen Beast in the same fashion — it doesn't necessarily have to have been genetically "born" a queen. Also, that might not have been the only hive, so the surviving beasts and jumpers could possibly be adopted by other hives. Beyond that, I am not entirely convinced that the queen died. It was falling into the same chamber as the acid pool, but it does have rudimentary wings, so like Bulk it may have been able to halt its fall before reaching however deep that hole would go before the acid settled.

Also I didn't realize my comment on Eurobricks referring to "some critics on BZPower" (never to you in particular) seemed like I was referring specifically to you. I wasn't, so I apologize if it seemed like some kind of veiled passive-aggressive jab. I didn't even intend for "critics" to be taken as an insult, so I apologize if it seemed like one. You have as much right to voice the things that bothered you about the episode as anybody (personally, I was unimpressed by the pacing and music).

Very possible; there might be a recessive trait in every jumper that determines what it can evolve into if that particular niche isn't filled, so if, say, the flyer beast was disposed of, a jumper carrying that trait may become a new flyer beast, but since there still is an active flyer beast those particular jumpers remain as they are. Could work similarly with the queen, assuming she is dead.

  17. The one thing that really catches my eye about this MOC is that combination of the dark grey Kaukau, the light blue eyes, and the white. I really wish that Lego had produced more pieces in a really dark grey like that so I could make an entire MOC with that color scheme. The Kaukau just looks great here. The black and white is also a great color scheme that I've tried myself a few times, and the name "Solstice" really fits the colors. The flow looks great on the upper half, but the bottom seems to have a completely different look. The bottom half seems to have a lot more black and looks rougher than the smooth Hero Factory armor. It would look better if that was fixed a bit.

I'm curious as to what the blue claws on his back are. Are they wings? They seem kind of small, although they fit the color scheme and flow very well.

Yes, I couldn't find any parts that would make good lower legs; I may make custom lower legs in the future. I kind of think of those "wing" parts as elemental outlets. Kind of like a spot on her back where she releases excess elemental energy, thus forming ice crystals.

Well, if you want to get into how "cannon" a set's exact appearance is, just think of it this way; if characters looked and functioned exactly how the sets do, nobody would be able to un-clench their fists (save the older sets, which didn't have fingers to make fists with) or move their mouths... probably wouldn't even have room for internal organs! So, judging it by realism kind of throws the point, no sets are realistically possible :P

However, (back on track) comparing the two, I'd say that the canister-sized version is more accurate, seeing as it is the most often depicted of the two, and was the only body that the story actually mentioned mata nui forming. Unfortunately, the movie was the best story teller for 2009, since we didn't get a full linear group of scholastic novels from greg (besides raid on vulcanus which may not have been in the same time frame as the later parts of 2009). But ultimately, I get the feeling that lego just wanted to release a titan mata nui (that, or they had designed that as a side project or sketch and figured that the fans would enjoy it), and it holds no story ties. Just a big mata nui.

But wasn't product testing their excuse to why they didn't release thornraxx and breez a couple years back in the US until summer?

Not as far as I know, they probably just wanted another distribution and more sets in summer.

If there not in the Canadian Lego shop by January then its sad to say they'll be out in Canada by march. It sucks even more since I can't buy the sets from overseas. Lego doesn't do overseas shipping.

You could try Amazon, for example.

As of right now, amazon isn't carrying the new sets. Hopefully that will change! :)
