Woke up this morning with a sore throat. The one good side of it is, I can at least try to do school, get on BZP, maybe play games, and watch TV. The downside is, I'm sick. And that I'm probably going to be sick through Thanksgiving, and maybe on Monday and through holidays. Wonderful. -.-

Well, I guess it's good this isn't happening at Christmas. Better it happens now.

Y'know, I'm getting really curious why everybody still has them after this long.

(EDIT: Just to advertise it a little bit more, go view the blog entry below. I'm currently taking requests for creations [a.k.a., stories, MOCs, art, etc.] that I will review personally at any time. So far, two slots are filled, and eight are left. Even if the slots are filled, you can PM me with a topic link for what you want reviewed, and I'll get to it when I can. =])

    Winter Years

    By Peach 00

The cold bitter weather – it always came early in the year, especially up north. Within the long pasture, there was almost two feet of snow piled up high, almost to my knees each time I stepped with heavy snow boots. I could only stare at this winter wonderland the sky and clouds had created for us, a natural heaven for only the two of us to enjoy. But for me, I only thought of those missing from my life.

I stood, just looking upward at the grey, overcast weather that hovered above the two of us. Suddenly I felt the hard hit of a ball formation strike my leg, and for a moment I nearly yelped at the cold hit. I gawked at the area to my left, seeing my friend grin at her ghoulish wit and prankster attitude.

“What were you gazing at?” she asked. “You know I always hit distracted people.” She expressed that same wolfish grin, a glee seeming to build inside her. I smiled back, wiping the snow off the jeans I wore. But as I was bending down, I quickly took a mound of snow and threw at her. It hit her square in the chest, although I had made sure it wouldn’t be a hard hit. She laughed at my competitive nature.

“It doesn’t feel so good, does it?” I said, laughing. But she took it in stride, without a care in the world as she smirked at me. That same grin that Marianne could always cheer me up with… “I suggest we declare snowball warfare. Your thoughts?”

“Sure. We’ve got plenty of time, it’s only ten now,” Marianne responded. “Any specific rules?” I put a gloved finger to my chin, thinking carefully. A set of rules dawned on me, and it didn’t take me long to organize my thoughts.

“Yeah,” I answered. “Rule number one: No going across this – ” I paused for a moment to search for a stick, and when I found one, I drew a bold line across the flat area. “ – boundary, as this is my territory. Yours – ” Again, I paused to draw another bold line at least twenty feet away from my line. “ – is over there.

“Rule number two: No barricades or snow walls. You can build piles of snow so you have a snowball supply, but no barricades. Rule number three: When a player has fallen or is taking ten seconds or more to get up, you are not allowed to throw snowballs at them.”

“That all of them, Sarah?” she questioned, and I nodded. “In that case, I’ll be building a few snow piles. We’ve got two minutes, let’s say?” I shrugged, but still nodded.

Carefully I walked on the snow, beginning to build tall crystallized snow edifices as a strong snowball supply. I suddenly felt the soft and gentle touch of a snow flake hit my cheek, like powdered sugar falling from the sky as flurries started to blow in the bitter wind. I paused for a moment, staring at my friend.

Marianne was considered a very tall girl for her age, only being fourteen. She was at least five-foot six, which was a little taller than most of those who were her age. She had long brown hair, unable to see because most of it was tucked underneath the bobble-headed knit had she wore. She had lovely brown eyes that showed a small amount of emotion, but always had a friendly look about them.

Of course, that was always her nature, whether it was translated into a more aggressive approach to friendship. This meant pranks and jokes, but when she embarrassed somebody or made fun of them more than anybody else, it usually meant she had a soft spot for the person and considered them a friend.

For a moment, I simply sniffed at the air, catching a whiff of a sweet aroma. I saw the line of eleagnus bushes far down the pasture, and I gazed at the rose garden that was some hundred feet away, up near Marianne’s house. Even though the scent of the eleagnus was powerful, the roses that grew at the garden housed a wonderful smell within the flower. But the distraction of the smell threw me off guard, as Marianne began to pelt me with snowballs.

“Remember what I said earlier?” she said, laughing once again with that same smile. I duck behind the snow structure, taking a clump of snow from the pinnacle. Smoothing it with my hands and creating it to be a powdery ball, I brought my arm back and thrust the ball forward.

I watched as the ball took aim at her shoulder, and I began forming another snowball. It didn’t take long for me to gain a lead in points, as each hit counted as a point. She had hit me three times and I had hit her five. Of course, I knew this lead wouldn’t last long.

Eventually we both stopped, and just sat down. We began talking – things happening in the world, what careers we might choose in the future – everything. She would smile every once and awhile at my responses and what I’d ask. Even though I was basically still a kid (I was twelve-years-old), she still treated me as though I was her age.

We both passed questions back and forth, even if they were simplistic and repeated. “What movies have you seen recently?” I asked. She almost laughed at first, but she still answered.

“If you mean in the movie theater, then no,” she said. “Everything costs too much in theaters, but I saw the last addition to the Harry Potter series recently.” A smile touched my lips for a moment as I basically played the movie in my head.

“I saw that one in theaters with a friend of mine,” I responded. “Filling candy in our pocketbooks makes for less spending, considering candy is expensive at the movie theater. You can get a pack of eight small candies for a dollar, yet you can get a four-ounce package of Junior Mints for three dollars.”

She laughed at my acknowledgement, showing a grin on her face. It turned to just a smile as her eyes gazed at my face. “You know, you’re rather smart,” she said, hiding nothing and being quite frank.

“Isn’t that the object when you’re learning things?” I joked, and she couldn’t help but giggle ever so slightly.

“You know what I mean,” Marianne replied, still smiling. “You know a lot about things that others your age don’t care to understand. At your age, girls are still playing with their dolls and having their secret handshakes, their Hello Kitty backpacks and things. You seem more mature.”

“My brothers tend to rub off on me, I suppose,” I answered. “I can participate in conversations with other people around three to five years older than me, conversations with adults. I can counsel friends and the like in bad times, whenever their feeling down. I like to cheer people up and solve their problems. To make them feel better, you know?”

For a moment we stayed silent, and she just moved her gloved hand back and forth in the snow. It was rather awkward, but reluctantly I began another conversation.

“Y’know, I’ve always been interested in psychiatry,” I said to her. “My family seems like an interesting case-study - like preview to how well I can solve people’s problems and help them. My parents argue a lot, and I figure I go back and forth between caring if they stay together or not caring if they stay together. Maybe it’s just me.”

“What do you do when they argue?” Marianne questioned.

“Luckily enough for me,” I began, “I don’t live with my parents. My brother moved out, and so did my other brother. I asked if I could go with them, and they let me tag along. So, our house just consists of me and my two brothers. I have no clue what’s happened with my parents, and although I may not seem like I care, I kinda do.”

She bowed her head for a moment, and then I continued.

“I hear them argue and I can only think of reasons that would help them,” I said. “Reasons they don’t realize most of the time. It depends, honestly.”

She shrugged, and then I began to stand. “Let’s get out of this conversation,” I began quickly. “It’s bringing back some memories I don’t exactly like remembering, to be honest.” Marianne smiled, and it didn’t take us long to find an exciting activity within the snow-covered pasture. I looked up at the sky, seeing flurries begin to form gradually.

The grey skies were clouded by dark, heavy snow clouds, but I gawked at other things, like the bare, grey tree branches within the woods around. The area around wasn’t exactly a suburban area, which was nice. It was quiet, and you could hear the squirrels dancing and skipping across the snow lightly, the birds chirping above merrily as they fed their younglings and built nests. I could always see rabbits burrowing into the ground while deer gracefully frolicked in the winter weather.

Winter was always lovely, but I missed the warm, sunny days of autumn weather.

“Hey,” I said suddenly. “Why don’t we make a snowman, just for fun?” Marianne chuckled, grinning.

“Everybody makes a snowman just for fun,” she answered. “But, what the heck, let’s do it.” I knelt down to meet the ground, taking a lump of snow and already beginning to roll it. She did the same, and within a minute the two snowballs were already a foot tall. Of course, there was still at least two feet of snow on the ground.

Eventually, we had a two feet high snowball, putting a foot-high one on top of it. In width, it was at least a foot to two feet wide. We rolled another snowball, a half a foot in width and a half a foot in height. This we put on the top, and now we only had the minor things left – the finishing touches.

“All right, I say we snap twigs in half and put them as eyes and a smile,” I suggested. “For the nose, take a long stick and snap it just so it has a point at the end,” We followed my suggestions, and finally I took small, thick branch.

“What are you doing, Sarah?” Marianne asked in an almost nervous tone.

“Dear snowman, have a cigar,” I responded, and both of us laughed. I aimed the ‘cigar’ towards the mouth of the snowman. “You’re gonna go far.” Marianne chortled, a vibrant expression appearing on her face. “All right, now what?”

“Why don’t we walk around the woods?” Marianne suggested. “There are bridges around here, if you haven’t already seen them. There are plenty of walkways and paths I know, so let’s go follow one of those trails.” I nodded, and I followed her direction as we began to saunter through the woods.

As we walked, we talked more. “You know what I’ve always wanted?” I said suddenly. She shook her head, a look of wonder in her eyes. It was almost as though there a question hidden between the brown.

    “What?”

“This beautiful necklace at that little jewelry store in town,” I answered. “It’s this gold necklace with a beautiful garnet stone, and it has these little, dark yellow gems surrounding it. Every stone is embedded in a wonderful, teardrop-shaped gold encasement. Every week I go down there just to look at it and try it on…to look at myself in the mirror. The garnet matches my red hair, and all the yellow stones seem to match with the green of my eyes.”

Marianne smiled, and I could see she was imagining it in her mind. I sighed quietly, knowing that having that would cost too much beyond what I had or even what my brother’s make in a week.

“I can see it being very pretty,” she said. For the meantime, we just talked and continued to walk through the woods, and I only could think of that necklace for the time being.

    *~:~*

After about four hours of fun out in the snow, we returned to our respective homes. It was now a week after I had last seen Marianne. My brothers, with their usual curiosity and caring nature (which they only adopted after I joined them at the house), asked me how the day went. When I went outside to grab the mail from the mailbox, I saw something wrapped in a small, blue package on the ground.

At the top there was a small piece of paper and a translucent, cream-tinted ribbon wrapped around it. I also noticed a pair of keys, which confused me, but I knelt down to view the paper, unfolding it to read it.

    Dear Sarah,

I gave you this paper so you would know that my family will be out of town for a few days. Here are the keys to our house, so you and your brothers can maybe clean the house. For your troubles, I have enclosed a small token of my appreciation for doing this and for the walk in the woods.
I hope things might get better for you soon, and I hope you enjoy my gift.

    Sincerely,
    Marianne

I put down the piece of paper, feeling tenderness in my heart. I quickly began to open the little box, and I saw a small, black velvet case on the inside. I opened the velvet case, and my heart skipped a beat.

That necklace…that necklace I had always loved so much. I could have sworn I was hearing my heart thumping within my chest at the surprise. I didn’t know what to feel, to say, to do – it confused me at how she had gotten it. But I was nonetheless thankful, and I took it gently from the case to point around my neck.

It was a simple present, but it meant the world to me – not just because it was the necklace, but the thought that was in it. I knew it would always hold a special place in my heart, as I would remember it for a long time.

I would remember it in these winter years.

Well, there's the story. I hope anybody who reads it enjoys it - comments and critique are welcome.

It’s come to my attention that there is an enormous lack of actual awareness of talent – whether it’s about a writer, artist, comic maker, or even a MOCer. It seems to me BZP doesn’t recognize talent anymore, and doesn’t care for it whatsoever. Although there is no actual way to prove this point, it is true in most cases.

Now, let’s create a hypothetical situation, with a person that joins the site and starts posting stories/art/comics/MOCs. He/she doesn’t get any recognition, even if they went to all the trouble of writing just so people can critique or view the story/art/comic/MOC. Even if they show links in their signatures or on their profiles, they won't get noticed.

Now, what I’m about to say isn’t meant in any offense, but it seems that the community basically follows the popular members. Some of these popular members (not going to name names here) do deserve the credit they’ve been given and the respective reviews, but I think some just aren’t all that talented. There are really popular comic makers whom I’ve seen that just aren’t that good.

However, authors are usually always talented, while some just need the reviews. Some aren’t noticed because they’re basically tossed aside for the more popular people. I’m somewhere in between popular and not really noticed, but leaning more towards unnoticed. None of my stories really get recognition, even though most of the time I write them just so people can view them. My epic that I reposted only has gotten one review since I put it back up, which was from the ECC because I wasn’t getting any reviews. To save my review topic from falling to the bottom of the pages I asked them, and ever since then, I still haven’t gotten a review.

But, this just isn’t about me. Each category falls into the eye of the community, some categories usually having newer and older members getting reviews. Now, this doesn’t apply to Comedies when I mention writers, but the same basic scenario occurs, but sometimes the talent isn’t original. No offense to some people, but that’s just the way I see it.

Nonetheless, I think that the less-noticed talents should be known and people should be aware of these young, talented artists or writers or builders. Everybody deserves their time in the spotlight, even if it isn’t long. And, any little comment makes these people feel good. But even if it is a little comment, still keep it constructive and a little bit of positive and negative so they can improve.

Well, I'm pretty sure that this is the last night that I'll have my blog, so I guess I have to have this at one point. Disappointed I didn't get my story up, but still, ask me anything.

And, keep in mind that intellectual questions are also allowed.
  6. Peach 00
From what I've heard, the organization known as 'PETA' (I don't know much about it, and I'm going by only what I know) is against Raccoon Mario because 'it's wasting precious fur', so they're declaring Mario an animal killer because of this.

    Wow. Just wow. o_o
  7. Peach 00
    I still have PMship, woot-woot.

So, Saturday was awesome because I saw a Panoz on the road in an area you would not expect it to be. Plus I saw two Lamborghinis, the newest being the Aventador and the Gallardo right behind it. I got to go to Barnes & Noble, which consisted of buying the P-U-L-S-E DVD Pink Floyd concert (=D), a book chock-full of pictures and info on guns and stuff. Can't remember anything else, lol.

And, I rewatched the Star Wars movies on Sunday and Monday, and I've come to the conclusion that Young Anakin is really annoying, the actors and actresses that played Anakin, Padme', and Obi-Wan aren't overall good actors, and that the puppet Yoda was cooler. However, Yoda was still awesome in Episode III and II, just because of battle scenes with Duku (or how ever it's spelt) and Palpatine. But the new ones were just baaad. >_>

    Also, now I'm going to go spam the Danger Close topic with a chapter or two, and going to go watch the review topic fall down to the second page for the second time since BZP's return. Reviews please. ;_;
  8. Peach 00
    ...until premier perks go awaaaay. ;_;

I'm going to miss blogging and polling and blogging and polling. Even though I haven't really been polling. Blogging I've done too much of.
  9. Peach 00
So, this is kind of an all-around blog entry, just about what I've been busy with in my recreational time.

Well, I watched Rear Window for about the ninth time, and it's still my favorite movie. =P Alfred Hitchcock is a genius, and I really recommend the movie to those who haven't seen it. And, if you enjoy it, go see some of his other films. He is truly the master of suspense.

And, for games, I've been playing Forza Motorsport 3, but not a lot of Majora's Mask lately. I might play it soon, I have no clue. But I'm loving the ability to drive a Ferrari FXX. =3

For writing, I've been slow. I might not be able to enter the SS 8# contest after all, but I might still write the story anyway. Either way, by Friday, all the chapters I've done of Danger Close should be up soon, and I'm actually quite clueless as to where the story might go. Or so I say...

Anyway, that's a short update for what I've been up to, besides school anyways. Now, I'm going to go listen to some Pink Floyd and do school, lol.
  10. Peach 00
Yeah, this is yet another blog entry with just kind of everything in it, including my commentary on some decrease in discussion on BZP, me talking about Majora's Mask and how annoying Stone Tower is, and me complaining about the weather where I am. Isn't it lovely?

Well, let's first start out with BZP. I've seen a huuuuge drop of actual controversial discussion in some of the forums. I might be kind of wrong on this, but if you want a little bit of proof, go check out GD. It's become more of 'post it here' forum, so I've been wondering if anyone actually cares about the topics or not. Since Bionicle has gone, there's been a decrease in actual interesting discussion.

We used to wonder about what next year's sets will be like, what everybody's thoughts were on summer's line of Bionicle sets. Well, let's say that kind of died when Hero Factory came. Not that I'm bashing HF or anything, but there hasn't been much excitement about it. And, to be honest, I'm getting very exasperated with the countless 'Bring back Bionicle' petitions and clubs. Let's face it: It's not coming back.

Now that that's outta the way, let's move onto my current complaint. BZP's amount of diverse discussion is decreasing, slowly fading away into the background with the rest of the repeatedly posted topics. There mostly boost your post count topics more than anything, instead of actual interesting topics that people can state their minds in.

Anyway, I'm just disappointed with the fact people are almost mindlessly posting the same old topics. Not to offend anybody, but we really need to move on to different and more interesting threads instead of the same old boring things. =/

    [/rantover]

Okay, well that was about 1/3 of this, lol. Anyway, remember how I was talking about Majora's Mask? Buckle up, get ready for a bum-py ride.

So. I'm thanking Nintendo for slowing down time in MM, and am reeeeeally glad you have the Bunny Hood. I'm currently playing MM, just entering the Stone Tower for probably the fifth time in the history of me playing this game, and I'm really hating the Elegy of Emptiness. Oh, why must I use this over a hundred times? >.< And, random observation with this before I keep going: Why does the Link clone look like a girl? o_o

Nonetheless, this temple is just overall really weird, but is still awesome. So many confusing details involved in it. Plus, I am really lost in the temple now, so I have no clue where to go, lol. This is more like a maze than an actual temple. -.-

    [/rant2over]

    And, last but not least, the weather. It decides to be really grey and gloomy outside, which dupes me into believing there might actually be snow, although it's not cold enough. So, maybe flurries - then, it just turns to cold weather, with a good chance of rain, but that doesn't happen either. And tonight, it's really cold and chilly out, with no sight of a moon anywhere, and absolutely noooo chance of snow or rain. Can we have a little bit of something please? ;_;

    [/rant3over]

OK, well that was just about all I wanted to rant and rave about. Today has seemed like a bit of a lousy day, but that might just be in my eyes. Only good thing for me was going outside and actually taking pictures for the fun of it, but probably no chance of them showing up here. Sorry. =(

Anyway, discuss my thoughts on BZP, MM, or even the strange weather nobody is actually experiencing.

(AND WOOTWOOT ANOTHER CHAPTER OF DC IN A FEW MINUTES)
  11. Peach 00
I realized that it came out today only just now, lol. I probably won't get it, but it depends on the price/what it's like/etc.. But, seriously, I'm not ready for another Call of Duty game.

Annnnnd another chapter of Danger Close should be coming up in a few minutes, also new content blocks/different name. ^^
  12. Peach 00
Yeah, I just made over 25 pancakes (Strawberry, blueberry, and chocolate chip) for my family, and I'm finally taking a break after an hour of cooking. My dad made bacon and eggs after I made pancakes, which I probably would have died doing if I made that on top of pancakes, lol.

Also, I'm going to stop posting chapters until the ECC reviews Danger Close. For now, I'm just going to go play some Xbox, then maybe write, draw, or listen to music or something. ^^

(And, yay, new blog name. =D)
  13. Peach 00
If you want a really, really good story to read, go read A Moment of Fragile Courage by Grant-Sud in the CoT forum. I have only just recently read it, but it is a great and touching story. I promise, you will enjoy it and probably won't forget it. =)
  14. Peach 00
Yup, it's freezing outside (but it's not snowing) in about forty/fifty/thirty degree weather, and I'm wrapped up in a blanket sitting next to a heater. Oh, how I love winter...

Yesterday I baked some cookies and brownies, and today I'm planning on making more. Sorry, if you want some, you're going to have to make the drive to where I am. =P But yay, warm baked cookies on a cold day = <3

And, apparently, I have sort of some writer's block, which I had a feeling was going to happen. Either that, or I'm just giving myself an excuse not to write. Any threats people could send my way to get me to get writing again, please?

But that's the basic news flash for today, but now I've got to go make some breakfast and watch the F1 India race in an hour or two. If you haven't seen any Formula One races, look up some from last year and see if you like it. 200mph+ cars are always awesome to watch. =D
  15. Peach 00
There is a really good chance I'll be entering, but I'm still trying to get approval from my parents and whatnot. So if I enter, it'll be about a few days/week from now, maybe. But who else is entering the contest? =)

(Side Question: If one person chooses the name of the story I want before me, do I have to change the name of my story?)
  16. Peach 00
I've been playing it lately, and I'm going through Stone Tower. MM = Confusing. >.> I swear, this is the hardest game in Zelda game history. Master Quest is a close second, but that was more like a harder add-on to Ocarina of Time, lol.

Still, I think I've been playing this game for three years straight, and only just getting into Stone Tower. That might be because I stopped playing it every few months, but oh well. =P
  17. Peach 00
The MLP fad/meme/population is rapidly growing apparently. I've never watched it, and me, being a girl, is probably an amazement to most. To be honest, I've never been really into 'girl' stuff. It's more been outdoor activities, Pink Floyd, Jimmy Stewart, Star Wars, and Call of Duty for me than High School Musical, Barbies, Hannah Montana, and Justin Bieber. There's a much, MUCH higher probability that, if you were to walk into my room, you'd see a Breakfast at Tiffany's poster instead of a Justin Bieber poster on my wall. Now that I've drilled that point into the ground, let me continue.

I've never seen the show, so I don't know what it's like. I've heard some pretty good things about the show, but I still didn't take one step towards trying it out. I'm not an easy person to convince. I mean, awhile ago, I kind of thought it was the average girl's show with glitter and pink, but some recent comments have made me think otherwise. Nonetheless, I haven't really considered trying it out. =/

So, I basically made this for some people to give me reasons to watch the show. Not threats, or just a comment that seems like your forcing me into watching it, but just some reasons as to why I might like it or should try it out. =]

(Also, as a side note, it's slightly scaring me that there are probably more guys on here that are fans of MLP. o.O)
  18. Peach 00
It's nice when I just post stuff and not let anybody know about until afterwards, isn't it? Also, I have no clue how to do url codes, lol.

Yeah guys, you should be expecting a Halloween story on the 31st. I've already plotted it out, and I'm currently writing it. It's not going to be long, so many of you might be glad to hear that. (That means you, Zarayna. )

Either way, when it comes, I hope you guys will enjoy it. ^.^
  20. Peach 00
I've been really curious about this recently, but is there any limit to how many stories you can post in the SS forum? This has been bugging me lately, because I've been wanting to re-post stories and wasn't sure how many I could post in one day. I'm not sure if it's anything like the Epics forum with chapters, although I'd think not. Either way, anybody have an answer to this question? =/
  21. Peach 00
Just watched it. Awesome, all though it had some weak points. Action was sometimes a little cheap, but only at the beginning. Characters were cool, played well off each other. Also, I loved the CGI effects they did when they used the dagger.

One thing I liked was that it wasn't a natural Disney movie. It wasn't like you could tell it was Disney, which made it better. Jerry Bruckheimer did a great job (Which also explains why it was so much like Pirates of the Carribean). In all, awesome movie.

OK, movie review over. (Also, how come I have the feeling that I'm waaay late in watching this? )

Planning on getting the first chapter of DC back up before the end of the night. Hopefully I can get it up in a few minutes. Also, I need some help digging up some of my old stories. I'm looking for plenty of stories, although I can't name some of them. If some people can help me look through the SS and Epics archives for the stories/review topics for stuff by me and whatnot, I'd really appreciate it.

I'll update the entry when I get the review topic and story topic up, but for the meantime, going to post the chapter.

(Side question: How do I stop the paragraphs from automatically going to the center? I've been having problems with that lately. Any answer to that would be great.)
