  1. IC: Keitara (slowly dissociating) "Have... have you all lost your minds? What about the matoran? You may be fine with kill or be killed, but can you sentence them to the same fate? We'd be dooming an untold number of those we are meant to protect." Kei turned to Skyra and Rose. "Did you learn nothing from the swamp? We were underprepared and when the three of us jumped in how did that turn out? Oh sure we survived, but at what cost? And as for 'survived' we still have no idea how close a shave that really was! And now an entire sector of ecosystem is poisoned. I've learned my lesson. I'll not allow those under my protection to die for my own pride." Kei turned to Sans, all traces of formality gone. "There's no turning back the clock, not unless one of you has the Vahi stowed in your satchel. Let me help... I don't know. Fortify the city? I'm no construction engineer! All I have is a fascination with mechanisms and apparently the scarce gift of common sense!" Kei whirled towards the others, desperation now clear in her voice and face. "Please. Somebody else here has to think the same! Can anyone here help, or do you know who could? Gah, what I wouldn't give for a master smith-" Kei winced as a wave of emotions slammed into her. Why a smith? How would a smith help? She shook her head. "I don't care about politics. I've not got the mind for it. But surely someone else here sees the need to stage a proper defense!" Kei slumped slightly. "Please... I just got you all. I've lost everything. I... I don't want to lose you, too." 2. IC: Keitara (having second thoughts about this Sans fellow) Kei felt a weight drop in her stomach at the Turaga's words. His xenophobia was just as bad as she had feared. "Wise One," Kei said levelly "with all due respect I've seen the state of Metru-Koro. We can't handle an assault. Did you even try? Or were you so wrapped up in your own ego as the new Turaga of this settlement that you couldn't be bothered?" Kei forced herself to stay calm. "I don't know what bad blood you had before all of this but I'm pretty sure it's not worth whatever bloodbath is headed our way. Even if you weren't going to give in to their demands you could have at least offered negotiations to buy us some time!" (OOC: @Conway @Burnmad @Toru Nui @Tarn @Snelly @Keeper of Kraata @Kal the Guardian @Sparticus147 @Sparticus147)
  3. IC: Keitara (partner protection mode activated) Kei stiffened. She turned to Skorm, trying to gague his reaction. What she saw unnerved her slightly. Skorm seemed shaken by this development, and she was eager to know why. She squeezed Irna's hand gently. While the proteolytic defensive oils produced by zyglak were indeed present it was more of a mild itch than the flesh-melting horror many painted it as. And even that itch was only present where the woman's head had rested against her the entire ride home. The reward was by far worth the cost, but at that moment she saw her other love struggling. Kei walked over to Skorm and set her hand on his shoulder. "An attack? When was this discovered? Turaga, what exactly happened while we were gone?" (OOC: @Conway @Burnmad @Toru Nui @Tarn @Snelly @Keeper of Kraata @Kal the Guardian @Sparticus147 @Sparticus147)
  4. IC: Keitara (Sans' Hut) Kei hung her head, but this time kept her composure. The presence of her friends (and fr some, maybe more than friends) bolstered her confidence enough that she brought her eyes up to meet those of he turaga. "Wise one, it was my fault. I misjudged the situation, a-and I tried to protect the team. But... but I overextended my power and..." she hesitated. She felt that perhaps knowledge of her unfortunate ability, if ability it even was, was best kept silent for now. But he was their turaga. She decided to leave final judgement in the hands of her companions. "put the team in danger. In addition, my toa tool was badly damaged. If you know where I can find a sufficiently skilled Fe-matoran I think I could help them make repairs. It looks like my lance was running on Ko-crystallic circuit architecture with a battery of thermalstone capacitor cells, though in its current state it's hard to..." Keitara blinked. Where had that all come from? But another part of her mind, the same that had noticed the...glossiness of some of her memories was buzzing like a hive of fireflyers in the base of her skull. Kei sagged against Irna slightly. She was exhausted in both mind and body. Perhaps it was best to just let the day end. "Excuse my interruption, Wise One. I merely wished to take responsibility for the error." (OOC: @Conway @Burnmad @Toru Nui @Tarn @Snelly @Keeper of Kraata @Kal the Guardian @Sparticus147 @Sparticus147)
  5. I've been making some art pieces based on some events inthe Six Kingdoms: Resurgence (I mean Rebirth... heheh) RPG. So I thought I'd share some of them here so y'all can see what I've been up to, and maybe even offer some critique of my work! I'll update this as I make more. 1. The surprisingly wholesome polycule comprised of my character Keitara, @Keeper of Kraata's toa of twilight Skorm, and @Conway's bigge stronk zyglak warrior Irna. Just imagine there's a couch there... Irna and Skorm's designs were based on @Onaku's frankly superb art! 2. A very rough WIP of Kei as a matoran. She rebuilt herself, you know! I bet she'd be totally jazzed if you complemented her on it! 3. Sad daughter is sad. Kei as she currently appears in the story. I altered her colour scheme a bit to signify that she's changed quite a bit throughout the campaign.
  6. IC: Keitara (Cargo Hauler) The word "heartlight" slammed into Keitara like a giant monster crab. You needed a heartlight to make a kraata. A beating heartlight. Kei felt bile rising in her throat. She tightened her grasp on Irna and Skorm. Turning to the twi-toa, she swallowed with some difficulty and asked "Skorm... are they telling the truth? Do I- Oh Gods, Great Beings and the dark Karzahni do I have a dead being's heartlight attached to me?" Kei's hard-one composure was straining at the seams, but she doggedly held on as she looked up into Skorm's golden eyes. "Skorm, I... I don't remember any of this. Did... Karzahni, does this mean I killed someone just for their..." She had to stop to swallow back the bitter taste of bula leaf and her nearly forgotten breakfast. The end of the sentence hung in the air like a noose. (OOC: @Conway @Burnmad @Toru Nui @Tarn @Snelly @Keeper of Kraata @Kal the Guardian @Sparticus147)
  7. IC: Keitara (Cargo Hauler) Kei heard the swamp dweller's words, and a whole new wave of emotions crashed through her. "Um...Wuh-Wise One?" she hazarded. "I... I'm sorry that I hurt your crab. I... I just wanted to scare her off..." Surprisingly, she found that the tears were starting to peter out, though her chest still ached from the sobs. The warmth and reassurance from Skorm and Irna was centering to her, allowing her to stand a bit more steadily. "I never imagined anything like what happened back there was possible. I... If I've hurt your home and its creatures, I promise to do whatever I can to set things right." (OOC: @Conway @Burnmad @Toru Nui @Tarn @Snelly @Keeper of Kraata @Kal the Guardian @Sparticus147)
  8. IC: Keitara (slowly coming back to herself) Skorm's surprisingly gentle voice settled like snow on the heat of Keitara's shame. While guilt was struggling to worm its way through her soul his tone held no blame, no anger. She turned around to face her friend, amazed that he'd still even want to associate with her after what she had done. "Skorm… I'm...I'm so sorry" she stammered through her tears. "Y-you saved me. And I…" Kei reached up hesitantly to the twi-Toa's hand, then gently grasped it. She slowly pulled herself up, moving close to her newly mended friend. She held tight to Skorm's hand as though he were a lifeline keeping her from floating away into the sky. She forced herself to meet the eyes of all the others she had harmed, eyes finally settling on Irna. Something in her stomach squirmed as she searched for blame in the warrior's face. "I'm…" she began stickily, "I'm so, so sorry. I… I overestimated my abilities. I acted… r-rashly. I acted rashly a-and it nearly cost you all your lives." She fought to keep eye contact with Irna. "I p-promise to never act so rashly again… I-if you'll still have me." That act sapped the last of her emotional strength. She huddled herself against Skorm, the shame of how she was acting feeding into her inability to risk meeting anybody's gaze. She was behaving like a newly forged matoran who had yet to become emotionally grown. Why had she said that? How could any of them trust someone who acted like this? But, in spite of all of this, some small spark flickered within her. Skorm isn't acting like he blames you it said. The others made sure you were cared for. Irna nursed you even though she herself was sick. They didn't leave you behind. You can take this, learn from it, start to grow. Next time, you will know not to rush in. Next time, you can help keep them safe. A tiny flame of hope began to kindle in Kei's chest as she stood there, huddling so close against Skorm that she could feel the heat radiating from his biological components and hear the rhythm of his heartlight. As her head slowly cleared, some of what had been said slowly slotted into place. "A kraata?" she mumbled to herself, feeling a chill creep through a chink in her back armor. "Why is there a kraata inside of me?" (OOC: @Kal the Guardian @Snelly @Toru Nui @Keeper of Kraata @TL01 NUVA @Conway @Tarn @Burnmad @Sparticus147)
  9. IC: Keitara (outside cargo hauler) Kei gave a shuddering nod, but otherwise seemed unwilling to relinquish her grasp on the remnants of her weapon. The full weight of what had happened was too massive for her to process all at once, so all of her pain and guilt was being dumped onto the damage of her precious tool. (OOC: @Kal the Guardian @Snelly @Toru Nui @Keeper of Kraata @TL01 NUVA @Conway @Tarn @Burnmad @Sparticus147)
  10. IC: Keitara (outside the cargo hauler) A cool breeze fanned the guttering flame of Kei's life. She felt as if she had been dipped in a clear stream. The feeling washed away the throbbing in her head, the sickly sourness of her stomach. The pain across her body where her superheated armor had cooked her organic components ebbed as her body broke the dead tissue down and replaced it with healthy flesh. Most surprising of all, she gasped as her back convulsed as vertebrae and muscle slotted back into place. Kei felt as if she had been run over, crushed by rocks, then rinsed and set out to dry. Yet none of the pain she had felt could compare to what was burning inside of her. This is my fault she thought, watching her companions slowly brought back to health by a strange figure's rhotuka. They trusted me and I nearly killed them. She saw Skorm gesturing to her, and almost immediately after hazy memories of Irna sitting beside her and comforting her surfaced as well. Kei's heartlight dropped into her stomach and began dissolving. She looked away from Skorm, face hot with shame. He'd risked his life for her. And she'd blasted him with some kind of solar radiation. He was half shadow, she could have killed him. The thought struck a chord within her. I could have killed him. And Irna. And Skyra, and Waveahk... Gods and great beings, the manas wasn't the monster… I was. Kei tried to stand up, but immediately darkness crept across her eyes and her head began to spin. The near blackout required her to plop back to the ground. She reached to her side for her lance to steady herself… and her fingers brushed twisted metal. With dawning horror, Keitara drew the remnants of her lance into view. She must have been clutching them the entire way back. The blade was twisted out of true, its casing warped and partially melted. Her nose told her the circuitry inside was now only so much charcoal. And the haft… it had twisted clean in two, like hot taffy. Kei felt something inside of her break. She couldn't quite place why, but somehow seeing her lance in such a state was more than she could bear. She felt as if she held the corpse of a sister in her hands. She clutched the lance to her chest, curling around it in the fetal position. Hot, shameful tears trickled down her face, and sobs began to hitch her body. They had trusted her. With no reason to do so they had trusted her. And this was how she repaid them. (OOC: Kei's curled up right now, so I leave it up to anyone approaching if they notice her loosened back plate and kraata beneath. @Kal the Guardian @Toru Nui @Tarn @Snelly @Conway @Burnmad @Keeper of Kraata)
  11. IC: Keitara (Dazed and Confused) "Irrrr-na?" mumbled the av-toa. "Hehehe. Ir...na! Pretty name. Irna. Big Irna. Strong Irna. Pretty Irna." Kei's eyes, still unfocused, grew vaguely troubled. "Irna. Sick Irna. Feels hot. Not like last time, no no. Nothing left but bones. Old bones, cold bones. Couldn't save those bones. Irna's bones still here." Kei's hand fell nervelessly across the zyglak's snout. "Friend Irna. Safe Irna. Keep...safe..." Then the delirious toa's mumbles faded back into the inarticulate as her heartlight continued to flicker feebly. (OOC: @Conway)
  12. IC: Keitara (the Mother of all headaches) The additional heat of Irna's now fevered palm (possibly aided by the sting of a small amount of zyglak oil from her palm) slowly dragged Keitara back to the land of the living. She opened one surprisingly fuzzy eye. Glancing down, she saw her crush slumped next to her, chewing listlessly on a bula leaf. "Irna?" she croaked. Her throat felt like it had been scoured with sand, and her mouth was sour and sticky with dried saliva. And her head. She winced audibly as the voices from outside, in addition to the beat of her own circulatory system, drove rail spikes of agony into her head. "Agh." she said, intelligently. "Irna… what… was that real?" Then she saw the pallor of her friend, the sheen of sweat and oil coating her shivering body. She looked exactly like Kei felt. "No…" Kei rasped. "I...It can't…" She couldn't tell if she was still fully awake or not. Part of her was sending the message that here was Irna, hand on her shoulder. That was important, right? She turned her head towards the zyglak. That simple action nearly caused her to black out again. "Irna," she croaked woozily, "the light. It- augh, I feel like… sunburned inside. It was the light. There's… there's something wrong with my light." As fever gripped Kei's brain she began to babble. "Never… meant to hurt...scare away… not to my friends...keep them...safe… burns. Burns like… blind fire… there is blind fire in my veins…" (OOC: @Conway)
  13. IC: Keitara (Catatonic Catastrophe) As Irna gently lay the feverish toa on the seat of the hauler, Keitara let out a muted groan. Her breath was shallow and perspiration ran in rivulets on her exposed organic tissue. As she slid nervelessly to rest on the seat the rear panel on her armor shifted slightly, knocked loose by her meteoric impact with the hauler. It was nothing major. A casual glance would likely not notice it. But closer inspection would yield a glimpse of… something. Something magenta and gold, and strangest of all… organic. (OOC:@Burnmad@Conway@Tarn@Snelly@Keeper of Kraata@Toru Nui)
  14. IC: Keitara (A Fallen Star) Keitara's world stopped at her eyelids. It consisted of pain, nausea, a deep ache inside her. And the sounds she had heard. Her new friend, Skorm, begging her to stop in a cracked and pleading voice. Tekmo asking in horror what she was doing. Her own screams of agony as the poisonous energy burned its way through her. And the creature's scream. As she sailed toward the hauler, shield and the head of her broken lance in hand, she knew she would carry that sound with her to the grave. They had come to this creature's home. She had only meant to frighten it, to buy her companions a chance to escape. Her improvised flashbang had failed, so she tried to give the creature a burn noticeable enough that it would flee. She struck the hull of the hauler hard enough to dent it. Were it not for her protosteel armor she would have been killed. She peeled off of the side and fell the short distance to the ground. She still felt that… that poison here. Had she done this? Had it been here before? The dawning horror within her fought valiantly with the darkness devouring the corners of her vision. But it was a losing battle. In her fading sight she saw the green Toa. Waveakh. She had heard the horror in his voice when he addressed her. In that moment, she felt she deserved every word of it. "...Skorm…" she rasped, reaching her shield arm toward him feebly "...save...him. I'm… sorry. Leave me if you...have...to…." Keitara felt like she was dying. For all she knew, she was. She felt some small consolation that, if this was indeed the end. at least the horror that had occured here would never be repeated. Then her vision faded, and she knew no more. (OOC: Kei is unconscious, next to the hauler, and gravely injured. She has made it clear she wants nobody left behind. @Snelly, @Unreliable Narrator, @Tarn, @Toru Nui, @Burnmad, @TL01 NUVA, @Keeper of Kraata, @Conway it's up to y'all now. What will you do with her?)
  15. IC: Keitara (Time For Crab) Keitara turned around to see the sky itself heading straight for her. She let out a strangled scream, grabbed Orm, and threw herself to the side. She barely managed to dodge the claw, the creature must still have been dazed from the attack. She looked around them. She'd inadvertantly thrown herself further away from their companions. The hauler's cannons were firing, as well as Skorm's heatstone blunderbus, but to little effect. On the bright side, the crab wasn't focusing its attack on their friends anymore. Kei spat out a mouthfull of mud, along with a couple things which would have gotten her a dressing-down by any turaga had they heard, and hauled herself back up again. She saw the massive crab claw dragging itself toward her. Thinking quickly. and remembering what had happened with her shield, she slammed her lance butt into the mire. She then held her shield at her side to prevent her getting crushed... ...and let the force of the crab's claw drive the weapon's tip into the beast's chitonous armor. The protosteel held, though she felt the lance's haft flex against her. Once it was bedded to the guard, Kei dregged back up what strength she could and poured it into her tool. She didn't know if she had even pierced the hide of this monstrosity. But she was too wounded to flee or strike on her own. She was taking a desperate gamble, but didn't see the alternative. She felt her strength beginning to fade. The blade smoked and the smell of burning rot seeped into her mind, numbing what little of her senses remained. No, she thought as the lights once more went dim, no no no no! It can't end like this, it... Suddenly, the ache she felt in her back... changed. She felt as though a live cable had been jammed into her, and suddenly felt fresh power coursing through her. This felt... different than her normal light power. Harsher. More a blinding light than a soothing one. Voice already hoarse, she shouted her defiance one last time as she sent this new wave of power arcing down her toa tool. Radiation poured from the blade into the surrounding area of crab meat. Microwaves caused the water in the armor around her blade to sizzle and pop. Infra red and ultra violet light attempted to cook the lining of the wound while gamma radiation eradicated the very genetic code of surrounding cells. Kei felt feverish, as though she, too, were being slowly roasted alive. She had no knowledge of the different wavelengths flowing through her, only that this light burned and made her feel sick inside. Maybe there was a reason other Av-Toa didn't tap into this power. It felt like it was killing her as well. The carapace surrounding her blade glowed white, sizzling harshly in the humid swamp air. (OOC: @Unreliable Narrator please let me know if this is OP. I'm taking it to be that her promise to the Makuta who turned her is manifesting, causing her to try and protect the kraata inside her at all costs. Also @Snelly @Keeper of Kraata @Conway @Tarn heeeeeeeeeeeelp!)
  16. IC: Keitara (owowowowowwwwwwwwwwww...) Kei faintly heard a voice. Then she felt as though a blanket of cold water had pooled beneath her, and with a pop she was freed from the dirt. She turned around to see... Skorm? Wait, no. This being was smaller, but wore the same distinctive mask. Albeit this mask was a mottled grey. "SKO?" she asked, unintentionally loudly due to her damaged hearing "ORM? WHICHEVER. THANK YOU." She turned back to the massive crab and nearly vomited. She had a throbbing headache, wounded arm, and as a nice palate cleanser her spine once again felt like shattered sugar glass. Through the fog of nausea she saw Skyra releasing a hail of missiles which dealt far more damage than she thought anything of that size could. On the ground the air toa's wife stood in an articulated exo-skeleton, a gout of flame erupting from her toa tool. Toa tool! Kei felt at her hip, but then she realized that she'd affixed her lance to the front of her shield! With dawning horror she cast her gaze about desperately. To her surprise and relief, she saw the tool lying on the ground a couple feet past Orm. She staggered over to it, and lifted the folded weapon. The fall must have jarred its locking mechanism, for as soon as she picked her lance up it extended. A head's height again taller than she was, black and silver. Its blade was serrated along the back. with a wicked hooked barb at the front for catching enemy weapons in its protosteel maw. The blade was set in a rhomboidal casing which spat and crackled as Kei's tratemark incandescence flowed across it. On its very base, an emitter crystal began to glow softly. However impressive the spectacle may have been, Kei was hanging off of it now. She felt absolutely drained, and the way her rhotuka had behaved had frightened her. She turned back to the figure of her rescuer. "I don't know if I can face this alone in my condition." A sheepish smile crossed her face, then taking a deep breath she hauled herself up straight and brought her lance to bear "...I could really use some help, if you'd oblige me once more." (OOC: @Keeper of Kraata, @Snelly, @Tarn)
  17. IC: Keitara (Fau's Crab Shock) karzkarzkarzkarzkarzkarz! Kei felt her heart sink to her protosteel-shod boots. Not Irna, please not Irna... In a way, the giant crab didn't surprise her. She'd known the swamp would try to kill them. This was only proving her point. Not to say that she wasn't still absolutely terrified. But at that moment her greatest fear was anything happening to her new friend. She didn't give herself time to think. Keitara launched herself forward, dashing past the zyglak warrior and slamming the bladed top of her shield down into the mire. Not again. The words echoed through her mind. Not again, not again, not today you karzing swamp. She looked up at the massive crustacean. She guessed her shield was aimed close enough to its eyes. A blue glow, like St. Elmo's Fire, flowed across her shield, aggregating on the face of its rhotuka launcher. She felt like a live bomb, ready to explode with panic, fear, and uncertainty. But she just hapoened to also be the one with her finger on the trigger. "COVER YOUR EYES!" she screamed at the top of her lungs, "SKORM, COVER THE OTHERS!" An electric blue disk fired from her shield... ...and an instant later exploded like a miniature sun. Keitara felt like she'd been hit by the cargo hauler as she was slammed backwards by the force of the detonation. She'd messed it up. How had she messed it up? The rhotuka had barely left her shield before it exploded. But that didn't make sense, she'd used it before, hadn't she? The bedded tines of her shield kept her from being blown away by the sunburst. Instead, the shield folded backward, slamming down on the Av-toa and driving her six inches into the muck. Orange sparks danced across her blinded optics. Her back felt as though she'd been thrown on a bed of heated knives. Her arm hurt, as though it had been twisted. She might have been screaming, but her hearing was so badly shot she couldn't tell. "I'm sorry," she tried to say, or at least thought she tried to say as she lay nerveless on the ground. "I'm so sorry, I was... only wanted... keep you... friends... sa...f...." (OOC: Keitara has detonated a sunburst directly in front of her shield, with the intent of blinding the giant crab and buying all of her companions time to escape. She tried run to the front of the group, or at least in front of Irna, so in theory nobody but Mr. Krabbs should have been in the blast radius. @Unreliable Narrator@Conway@Tarn@Keeper of Kraata, depending on your reaction speed you would have had time to close your eyes. Kei is currently dazed, momentarily blacked out, and pinned beneath her protosteel shield. As Atem would say, it's your move.)
  18. IC: Keitara (Fau Swamp) A grateful expression passed across Kei's face, but she shook her head. "I'd rather stay by your side, if that was all right with you. The last time..." She looked at the rest of the party, then back to Skorm. "I don't know if I should worry them, but... something about this place... well, smells familiar. There was another swamp where I once lived, the Karda Nui cavern. The water was tainted and any being who was exposed for too long... well, they changed." She met the Toa's eyes, hers wide and deep blue. "There is something dangerous here. Something I know. If I could just. Remember." Her gaze fell on Irna wading through the swamp, and she fought down a scream and the impulse to dive in after her other new friend. With some difficulty she turned her attention back to Skorm. "Do you think it's worth telling the others, or should I wait to see if any more memories come back?" (OOC: @Keeper of Kraata, also @Tarn @Snelly @Conway @Toru Nui if any of y'all want to have overheard her.)
  19. IC: Keitara (Approaching the Fau Swamp onboard the Muaka) Kei felt a shiver run across her spine as the tang of rotting peat moss and stagnant algal water hit her olfactory receptors. A swamp. The smell brought many bad memories screaming to the front of her mind. Friends who had fallen into murky water and come back... changed. Massive, insectoid hunters patrolling a seething mass of creeping plant life and toxic rahi the likes of which still haunted her dreams. She had to conciously fight not to try and crawl out of the Muaka. This isn't the Karda Nui swamp, she told herself. It just looks like it. And smells like it. And almost sounds like it. Her protosteel-clad fingers left small divots in the metal crash bar she was gripping as she turned slowly to the other toa and said in a flat voice "Is... this vehicle waterproof?" It was more of a plea than a question. (OOC: @Keeper of Kraata)
  20. IC: Keitara (the Muaka) Keitara nodded her head. "I just feel that people should be judged for who they are rather than what they are." She looked back at the twi-toa again. "I'll be honest: I don't really know what shape I'm in. But with the rest of you preparing to head out I couldn't bring myself to stay behind. If anything happened... well, I'd never forgive myself. Long story short: to the best of my ability, I'll have your back. Heart's promise." The toa turned a couple of locks on the side of her folded lance and examined the innards. More than half of its crystalline capacitors were damaged, with two being completely shattered. Now that she knew that lightstone was an effective energy storage material she wondered if some could be worked into a replacement. Beyond that, and with her tattered memory, she didn't have the know-how to diagnose the full damage to her primary weapon's unique systems. Clamping its cover shut again, she clipped the tool back against her shield. "Well, I won't be able to manage my usual party trick, but it looks like I'll be able to use her as a standard power lance and beam rifle. Scythe form would probably be out as well, it tends to freeze in that configuration anyhow, and I don't wanna deal with that in battle." She looked back at Skorm, and suddenly a lead weight dropped into her insides. There was a feeling of... she couldn't place a finger on it, but she almost felt doom in the air. It was all she could do to keep her breathing level. What was going on? She was panicking like a rookie toa on their first mission. Sure she was still new to the mantle of toa, but she had quite a few battles under her belt... didn't she? But the memories felt scattered and distant. They were of little comfort. What if she had forgotten how to fight? Was that a possibility? What if she became more a liability than a help? What if... ...what if her being there got the lot of them killed? She sat there, stewing, distress plain on her face. (OOC: @Keeper of Kraata)
  21. IC: Keitara (Zakaz- expiditionary convoy) Kei nodded. "I'll give you everything I can remember. They're called 'kraata' and makuta can basically yank them out of their essence. The matoran I lived with separated them into two main supergroups. Bright kraata were tied to powers of light and photomanipulation. Dusk kraata were tied to more destructive abilities, as well as having an intolerance of light and high affinity for shadow. "The only time I remember seeing one was inside of a Rahkshi. From what I understand they sort of act like a krana brain for them. Only I was told to not get too close because-" Her voice trailed off for a moment, then turned towards the back of the Muaka where the bag of dessicated slugs lay. "...because they carried Shadow Sickness. The dusk varieties at least." She turned back to the front. "Then again, I was told something similar about zyglak, but none that I've met seem to be anything like the seething plague pits other matoran always made them out to be. Irna's very nice." A slight flush crept to the Toa's face at the mention of Irna's name, but she acted as though she hadn't noticed. "Then again, perhaps the unique qualities of your mask are what protected you. Hard to say. Anyhow, that's really all I can recall. Them being fused to skakdi is a new one, I will say. Perhaps the ones here on Zakaz have somehow evolved to be parasitic? It wouldn't be the first time the shadier parts of the Brotherhood toyed around with the island's inhabitants." (OOC: @Keeper of Kraata)
  22. IC: Keitara (the Muaka) Keitara's eyes went wide, then dimmed slightly. There was silence for a few seconds, then in a thin voice barely audible over the wind and engines of the two vehicles came the words "I'm sorry. That...that sounds horrific. I felt bad for my situation, but at least I know my will was always my own. I-I'm glad that you're free now, and that you've found a group of friends like these." She gestured to the cargo hauler where through one of the windows Skyra could be seen gesturing at various objects ( OOC:@Snelly I hope I got that right). "That's not something anyone should have to face alone. I only know Takadox by reputation, as far as I can recall, but remember stories of his...proficiencies." She turned to the twi-toa while reaching her hand out the window to trace lazy patterns in the wind. "If I can ever be of... I mean, if you..." She took a deep breath and looked straight ahead out the windshield. "I don't know what you went through, but if you ever need to talk to somebody I'll listen." Turning her attention to her hands, she nervously turned the scorched plug she had scavenged over and over nervously. Instead of the breezy confidence she had shown before the av-toa now gave off a feeling of nervous shyness, as though she had let down a barrier and was inviting Skorm in. She seemed subdued now, as though this display had taken a bit out of her. (OOC: @Keeper of Kraata)
  23. IC: Keitara (aboard the Muaka) Keitara looked at the va's activity with interest. "You can charge a lightstone with light energy?" she said over the noise of the engine. "Interesting. Seems simple, in principle, but I'd have never thought of it." She cast a curious glance at the other toa. That seemed... an odd coincidence. She began to wonder if they were the only two members of the amnesiac squad, and if there was any relation between their conditions. "So. You remember nothing before your transformation. As far as you're aware do you have all your memories after? Sorry to be nosy, but maybe whatever happened to you might be connected to my memory loss. If there is a connection, maybe we can work together to remedy it and get our memories back." "I think I can remember most of my life before I became a toa, but the event itself and anything beyond is hazy at best." (OOC: @Keeper of Kraata)
  24. IC: Keitara (Metru-Koro) Keitara walked over to the Muaka, scratching the fohrok-va on their headplate affectionately. "Getting Skorm's ride ready for us? I am ever so grateful. What a little cutie!" Kei turned to Skorm. "So, how should we break up fuel duty? Should we split it even fifty-fifty, or do you need to conserve your light energy so you don't run dry?" She stopped for a moment, then added sheepishly "If you don't mind my asking, I mean. I know I was out of line back at Turaga Sans' hut, and that seemed to unnerve you a bit." She looked back up, stimming nervously with a small engine component she had picked up and the va had, presumably, replaced. "If we're going to be fighting together, I want there to be trust. We still have no idea what we're getting into, and we don't need to be watching our backs as well as our fronts. My memory is still shot, but I'll answer any questions you may have for me to the best of my ability." Having said this, the Av-toa clipped her collapsed lance to her back alongside her rhotuka shield. and climbed into the passanger area of the vehicle. (OOC: @Keeper of Kraata)
