obviously i have a penchant for drawing inanimate objects and ghost-type Pokemon
so yeah. basically pick your favorite, leave suggestions, why can't i draw, etc., etc.
i’ll be honest, Sawk probably isn’t one of my top ten favorite Pokemon or anything. he’s cool and all, and i like his design, but it’s difficult for me to feel like he’s all that special or interesting. when it comes to Fighting types it’s hard for me to find ones that i really like. there are some i like more than others, sure, but on the whole they’re just kind of “eh” to me. three of the only ones that stand out are Hitmonlee, Blaziken, and Sawk here. it’s fluctuated in the past as to which one of those three is my favorite, but recently Sawk has been growing on me more and more, while the others i’ve begun to like less and less. it’s too bad his X and Y model is so derpy though. =/
i used to not like Togekiss at all. i thought it was dumb looking and when i started to play UU on Pokemon Showdown i realized that its paraflinch set was the worst thing ever and i hated it even more.
then, one day, i was creating a new UU team but i couldn’t decide on a last member. i looked and looked until finally, i settled on Togekiss. specifically, its bulky Nasty Plot set. it only took a few battles until i realized how incredible this thing was. i honestly can’t tell you how many times Togekiss saved me when the odds were stacked in my opponent’s favor.
guess that, somehow, when i saw her competitive worth, her design started to grow on me as well. and now she’s my favorite Flying type and Fairy type, too.
also i know i said hands were the worst thing to draw but i lied; wings are the worst thing to draw
honorable mentions: Drifblim, Archeops(very close second), Yveltal
anyway my cousin is over right now and she's awesome and hilarious and all that
but just a few minutes ago she started talking about how someone we know watches MLP:FiM and started making fun of him along with my sister. personally, i expected better from her than that, and i was actually really disappointed in her. eh, maybe it's because i'm also a brony, but that just really hit a sour nerve for me. i'm down with the whole different stokes for different folks thing and all that, be she just took the whole stereotypical "it's a show for little girls how stupid lol!!" approach.
blah, this probably comes across as really stupid and whatever. but hey, at least i finally know another brony in real life
over one year ago, i posted my very first Fakemon: two gingerbread men named Doughjoy and Gingerdead(soon after renamed to Gingrdread). the original drawing was exceedingly horrible, but i continued to redesign and alter them over the course of 2013. today, i have finished what i believe to be the last version of the duo in the forseeable future, and in recognition of that, i thought it would be a good idea to look back and see how Doughjoy and Gingrdread have changed.
the original design where it all began. as i said, this drawing is ridiculously bad, but it did establish several key elements that would carry over to all of the future iterations, such as: Doughjoy evolves into a part-Dark type(originally Dark/Normal, later changed to Dark/Fairy) Doughjoy has a heart shape on his chest, while Gingrdread has an "X" instead of gumdrop buttons, Gingrdread has skulls Gingrdread has large section missing from his head, as well as his hands
the second design(ingore the words and stuff(also i know i spelt "pastries" wrong okay)) apparently at the time of drawing this i thought it would be good for them to have eyes that were the size of Texas. their entire design was obviously refined in this image when conpared to the first one. it also introduced Gingrdread's eye scar.
the third design(ignore the words again) ...and in this version i must have thought it would be good for Doughjoy to look insanely creepy. aside from that, this drawing introduced their "gloves" and overall made them much lankier.
the fourth design(Gingrdread only) speaking of lankiness, Gingrdread suddenly got extremely tall and thin in this version. i don't really like this one at all; it didn't keep in style with the previous versions, and he didn't really look that much like a gingerbread man anymore. this design was eventually scrapped, and was not used as a reference when drawing their most recent versions.
the final(?) design(non-colored) the final(?) design(colored) and here we are, over one year and three noteworthy drawings in the making, i give you the most recent, and what i believe to be the best, versions of Doughjoy and Gingrdread yet. the lines are cleaner, the proportions are better, and in the end it all comes together to make a more cohesive and believeable design. but i guess you never really know what the future holds, and thus they may be revisited once again, but for now i'm really happy with these, and i feel comfortable in calling them the finshed product.
it sounds weird, but Doughjoy and Gingrdread will always have a special place in my heart, and not just because they were my first Fakemon. to me, they sort of symbolize my growth as an artist. just comparing the first drawing to the most recent one, it's dramatic seeing how much better i've gotten, and during the time it's taken for me to get to the final designs, i've started digitaly coloring and manipulating images, things i had no idea how to do when i first created these two. i still might not be that great of an artist, but i'm sure as heck a lot better than i was one year ago, and i'm excited to see how i improve next year.
i really wanted to change my name and this was the only thing that came to mind
in hindsight i would have made my name "squishy is an cool dude" but oh well
also BZP staff - please never remove the censor for "cool dude". it's too funny for people to use something as silly as "cool dude" in a serious sentence lol
because today is the day that i went through my plush frog collection to decide which ones were special enough to keep
we've has had moving on our minds for awhile now, so i always knew this day was coming but... siiiiiiiiigh. this collection has been built up for almost nine years now. a lot of stuff has happened during that time, most of it for the worse, so to see the majority of them just get stuffed in trash bags and sent away to Good Will is a bit... saddening.
i know they're just toys and at least they are getting donated not thrown away or whatever but ehh i still have feels =(
