  1. IC: That sounded like a response...I guess they must be talking aloud and in their head. I thought guards knew to be quiet, but I didn't realize that their dual nature would cause a problem. I turn and put one finger before my mouth.

We get back to moving. Ten seconds takes us to Dark Walk junction.

The trip's too great to be finished today. Let's take a break. I know a place, big enough for us and defensible.

I turn towards the tunnel leading to the complex and start walking.

"Do you have an idea what you've done? That Toa had a map of this place! Perhaps even hints on how to open that darned Vault! Now I must bumble around these tunnels with a madman as a guide, and even should I make it into the Vault Joske will have had his choice of the treasure. And it's all your fault!"

That shout, followed by more echoes, changes things.

Every Rahkshi for kio was just drawn to this area. We'd do best hunkering down. With other people running around, we've got to consider what's best for them. We're guaranteed neither safety nor success, but I think we have to try. That means finding these guys.

I flick my fingers back at the Toa, drawing them behind me. Then I stalk into the Mangaia double-time and alert for anything not normal.

    No one is dying today.

  2. IC: We approach the Dark Walk at a good pace. Before the tunnel, I stop and turn to them again. Change in terrain means a change in travel.

We need light. So, I pull out a lantern and pass it to them. Check one.

We need safety, but they're guard members, they know when to be stealthy. Check two.

    All checked. Let's go.

I turn and walk into the tunnel.

OOC: Aeolus/Arden and Sulov to Kini-Nui.

  3. IC: Consider the companion.

    Pros: -guard member

-able to set watches -> cut through Dark Walk -> faster

-able to split duties -> meal production faster -> faster

              -get to know people

              -substitute talker

    Cons: -talking

I nod and reach into the ground. The dust recombines into a knife, I toss it to them. Can't go unarmed where we're headed.

    I start going there.

  4. IC: What did I miss?

I check around her. Nobody's standing.

Only Aeolus or Arden, not both. She may not be looking for help, but she needs it.

I shake her hand and clear my throat.

"I see just one of you."

  5. IC: It doesn't take a Kimi to tell the team's gone. Only takes me to do good.

Quick good. We need to hit the Skakdi with force without them figuring out how to use whatever they found. Time to move. To get force.

    I start walking.

OOC: Sulov is open for interaction.

  6. EEEESH

Silo's stuck in prison and the guards are way too clever.

    So boring.

Well, let's be fair: surviving Makuta, experiencing a prisonbreak (also last season), and fighting off a bomb-tossing would-be bank robber has kept the Ussalry honed.

However, I know from experience that imprisonment is not fun. If all goes well and your character cooperates, I'm sure we can come to an agreement that allows him a modicum of freedom. I'll be working towards that end and you should be able to expect talks soon.

  7. IC: They're done. I'm not.

I don't give up. Stannis can be reached. Alone, he won't be pressured. He'll tell me the truth and we can make things right. Everything can be like it was before we fought Makuta.

    "Stannis."

    I can fix this.

    "Stannis...I..."

"You are my commander, Stannis," says a tinny voice. "I swear loyalty to your leadership and credence to your will...Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit."

No, he's not my commander. Not right now. He slipped out of that place and Reordin rose to it. That's why...

    "It's okay, Stannis, I..."

I want you to let me in. I want to be your friend. You were wrong, but you're a comrade, you're a person, I know you're trying to do right. I know you can tell me the truth. I know I can bring everyone back together.

    I know it.

    "I..."

    So.

    Why can't I say it?

    "...I."

    Silence.

I learned to fight. I never learned to talk.

    ...

I can't give up. But he's not ready.

There's a door. An island past it. That's where I'm needed. Where I can fight.

    Where I don't talk.

I step forward. He stays still. I put my arms around him and squeeze.

Something cracks. I loosen, whip my gaze into his eyes, support him, it's all my fault, I'm so sorry, Stannis, I just wanted to let you know you're always welcome, no matter what, no matter what happens, does it hurt, I'll get you to a hospital--

I see dull mirrors only holding my reflection.

Right. It was the Earth prosthetic on his armor. Just stressed from the fight. I'm too careful with how I get close to people for hurt.

    These days.

I toss some dust on it and pull back.

"Bye," I say. I turn, I stoop, and I walk out the door, shutting it behind me.

  8. IC: "Per Ussalry Code, Section 103, Subsection VI, Division 9, Subdivision CX, Article 27, Provision 8A, I would be empowered by legitimacy--a power you never have had."

  9. OOC: Actually, by the power vested in me by Nuju Metru, Akiri of Onu-Koro, I do have dominion over the Ussalry. I may play a guard or two here.

By the way, it's nice to see new blood. However, I have to warn both of you of a few things: we remove masks and we are neither necessarily Matoran nor excessively idiotic. :P

[NPC] IC: The guard at the end of the hallway wore the Great Mask of Sensory Aptitude.

"Oh, hon, I know exactly how you feel," the Onu-Toa crooned, her supple legs swinging back towards Silo. "You know, I was imprisoned before...so I know desperation when I see it. As much as I know Kanohi, anyway.

"Speak of Makuta," she interjected, "but could that be one on your face, Mr. Ran?"

  10. "Agreed, Komisk, we should get moving, the cripple is in Mata Nui's hands now," he said, putting his extra canteen of water to the floor beside Torvoth. He had a bit of mercy left in him, somehow.

IC: Gyn's pleased feeling was abruptly replaced by annoyance.

He flicked his saperka, the blood of his foe spattering onto the floor with a soft, splashing sound. Ordinarily, the minute noise would not draw much attention. Those settling into the post-combat order had more important concerns than the cleanup of another.

But a man who had just killed two Rahkshi was not ordinary.

"No," he decreed. He motioned to Dalrin and his patient with a smile. "We leave no one behind."
