  1. That explains why this BL shop has a bunch of NEW condition Rurus:

    https://store.bricklink.com/ciprinius?itemID=105888914#/shop?o={"pgSize":100,"itemType":"P","catID":"235","showHomeItems":0}

I originally thought maybe they found a pallet of original mask packs and cracked them all, but they only have Ruru, Pakari, Miru and Kakama, all in these colors in high quantities.

My best guess would be they somehow found an overlap at some point in time with these still being 'in stock' internally at LEGO, and being able to place orders through customer service. I'm going to message the BL seller and see if they will reveal any secrets.

EDIT: Also, would you mind linking the original facebook post/group?

I appreciate any help in this subject and hope I can answer some questions in turn.

So glad to finally have you here! I've been checking (stalking) your twitter and IG for months awaiting any updates. These masks are a thing of dreams and we need more!

First of all, any further details of where/who you obtained them from, and where they got them from, as far back in the timeline as is possible would be wonderful.

Second, I suppose it must be said, any further pictures of the masks would be greatly appreciated, especially shots compared to other parts of the same color from the same era. While it's absolutely believable that unknown mythical Bionicle parts show up over 20 years later, and the pictures you provided were great, there is a rise in popularity of resin "replicas" (fakes) out there that are getting better. While I don't think I've seen a resin mask that could stand up to close inspection, I'm not saying it's not possible, and unfortunately we are likely to see these fakes being passed off as the real thing at some point in the future if the craft is mastered.

As for the price... unfortunately out of my reach, as much as I'd love to have one. You could probably look at the sky Kakama as your base price, while there are 3 known examples AFAIK, only one has ever been sold and the other two owners seem pretty elusive, but having true one of a kinds? The sky is the limit I guess, you've stumbled upon a fortune.

I have a white huna I'm looking to sell, I have offers for 1400usd, however I've seen em go for significantly more, namely 3000usd on bricklink (whether that is accurate I don't know) can I ask for more or should I be satisfied?

I'd take Bricklink sales with a pinch of salt, there's no way of proving if the item was correct, or the transaction even took place.

I'd say 3k for a White Huna is very extreme, there's a few of them out there, I wouldn't put it anywhere near the Sky Kakama that recently sold.

  4. AFAIK these were all picked up by one guy who bought them from a German BL store (listed as Kurahk Kraata IIRC). A bunch of weird stuff comes from the German Legoland factory store. Did you get yours from the same guy?

  5. "It is only the mask and we have to hold onto it because we are not sure if it is sskk or Wmkk. We were suppose to get it today from a collector but the package did not make it to us. As soon as we get it, we will try to see which one it is. It should it have been listed today it is a mistake."

Response from the seller. Another false alarm.

I'm the 2nd buyer, but I had no idea there was a first! I saw the price increase and was confused but this makes sense. I ended up negotiating with him for a private deal so it looks like it didn't mess up the BL copper komau prices lol. Glad to hear Letagi had a good experience with him as well 👍 The same seller posted some interesting items in the Facebook Buy/Sell/Trade group lately...

Are you allowed to link said group here? Sounds like somewhere I should be.

I am sorry to inform you, that the piece has sold, testing at a pawn shop showed that it was sterling silver with an acid test. The piece had been buffed to almost perfect conditions and was cleaned before with an ultra sonic cleaner.

At this point I'm pretty sure we've seen more generic un-carded SSKK than we have carded ones. Does lead in to my theory even more 😂.

  8. WMKK for $2000 is mental. I know most of them by now are squirreled away in the collections of the big collectors from back in the day. How big can this bubble grow! Have I ever mentioned my conspiracy theory that there never were 72 SSKK 😂.

As for the supposed display piece WMKK... it does look very shiny, even compared to brand new ones without 20 years of tarnish like mine. It seems feasible that they could have been on some sort of display, but without the bag and the card I personally don't see any value in it. Plenty of people have made passable metal 'reproductions' over the years. If it was still on the display itself, that would be an interesting piece.

If an item was created as a replica of an original Lego piece to be displayed for informational purposes because a real one was not available what would that piece be classified as. If the piece was created as a part of a display?

In the art world I guess you would call it a reproduction.

In this world I'd just call it fake.

It was actually up there for a week or so. BrickLink's notification system is acting up again. I just happened to see it the day after it got posted.

I made an offer for $1000 and the seller seemed open to it, but wanted to wait for a bit and see whether someone would buy it for his asking price. To my astonishment, someone did.

For the record I think $3500 is ridiculous for any mask not made of a precious metal. I recently paid $1100 for a brown Komau which is about equally rare, and that's the upper end of what I think is reasonable. Hopefully this sale doesn't set a new precedent because it will price most collectors out of the market.

Nice to know BL alerts are hot garbage. Not exactly surprised.

Mental that it actually sold for that price. Unless it didn't, and someone just wants to make you think it did. Who would just chuck something like that up on BL? Someone who maybe does have one and wants people to think it's worth that much. There's that guy on Insta with 2 of them and 2 Komaus that doesn't reply to DMs.... Conspiracies!

Only thing I'd pay $3500 for is SSKK #69 😂

  11. Just posting some details for anyone looking at this lot. If I can make out from the picture correctly:

    25 Rahkshi set Kraata

    9 Shadow

    32 Wild 1/4s

    27 Wild 2/3/5/6s

I guess if Elon Musk still needs some Kraata😀

Maybe I'm off in my color naming here, but the first one seems to be Black/Bronze, the darker gold. I'm in need of Copper, the brighter gold. The second lot would be nice, but he doesn't ship to the UK, and I'm sure would not want to break up the set for me anyway, but thanks for the help!

  13. Recently been digging out my collection and getting it set up in display frames that I'm laser cutting but somehow over the years I've managed to lose a couple of Kraata from my once complete set.

    I'm looking for:

    Tan Head/Green Tail: 6

Black Head/Copper Tail: 3 (this is the brighter gold color e.g. Turahk's Kraata's head, and not the darker one)

If anyone has both, I'll offer $70 shipped straight cash. I also have a bunch of the usual tradeables, Chrome Hau, TNGM, Vahis etc, and even a bunch of Kraata if you would rather do a Kraata trade. Hit me up.

  14. You're finding more of these now than I could back when they were fresh! Don't know how you do it!

EDIT: My bad, didn't see this had been over for two weeks!
