  1. MNOG I obviously had the better story, less obstuse gameplay, a better atmosphere and overall just a good Myst-esque game that helped shaped Bionicle in the early years.

MNOG 2 is, while kinda step down in many ways, I still kinda like. Mostly because I really liked the whole virtue and principle system it had. Hey, worldbuilding is always neat, and nothing says worldbuilding than an interesting religion and culture. That and Templar's style and graphics.

That and the hilarious names they chose for Matorans, half of it were essentially just Finnish words and names.

  2. Skakdi, mainly on an idea level are something really twisted and amazing.

Think about it, a race of mutated and brutalized Toa-like creature who were once peaceful and dignified, now reduced to savage and warmongering beasts. It's a really clever twist on the whole "warrior race"-trope in fiction, where the culture was essentially forced on them and costed them greatly. Bring a very interesting dimension to the world and a great villanous act for the Makuta. You could have wrote entire stories out of Skakdi and their struggles with their savage side.

... Of course then 2010 happened and they were reduced to Makuta's mooks. That was lame.

There's also the Bohrok, who have kept their edge even after all these years which is quite nice, the what-could-have-been Makuta of 2001, and of course the Matorans. 'Cause we all love Matorans.

  3. My answer to this is that people who wrote this story really didn't think things through at all, and unfortunately never will.

Or you could just say life on MU just evolved into the gender binary structure. Makes about as much sense as anything else Great Beings ever did.

  4. Wait, why was Naruto there. Why was Sonic there when Naruto left.

    What are all these animes.

  5. The only mahou shoujo I've seen recently enough for it to be even remotely relevant (I watched one called Corrector Yui like nine years ago, and I loooooved Cardcaptor Sakura ten years ago) is Madoka Magica. It was pretty great, as a magical girl series in itself. Its horror/deconstructive qualities appear to be overblown by the fanbase. I liked the music particularly. I've never really seen the Sailor Moons or anything like that. Maybe I should.

Oh you totally should, although do expect a slightly slower start though. After all, it is a long-runner show.

But if that's not your cup of tea, I heard many good things about Princess Tutu and Utena (Don't know exactly if Utena counts, but whatever). Pretty Cure is also good, with the extra of having a lot physical fighting. Seriously, that's it's franchise staple.

  6. I always thought they emerged from weird machines under Metru Nui or important islnds and people had to teach them how to do stuff. Not like Kindergarten, of course. Like the Ga-Metru Schools.

Either that or like the prologue of that movie Robots with Robin Williams in it.

Maybe not exactly. Maybe more like the Looms of Doctor Who Expanded Universe.

  7. Now who doesn't like Magical Girls? Nobody, that's who.

Your friends? One of them owns a Sailor Mercury doll.

You see that guy across the street? Knows all of the Pretty Cure's speech by heart.

Your gym teacher? Cried during the ending of Madoka Magica.

That racist neighbour who never shuts up about guns? ... Okay let's ignore him.

Who doesn't love supergirls in frilly dresses bringing own pain on injustice while looking marvelous doing it?

But basically, Mahou Shoujo. This thread is about them. Your Sailor Moons, your Pretty Cures, your Madoka Magicas, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tokyo Mew Mew, all that good stuff.

Some of may may even really like Cutie Honey and Flower Child Lunlun.

But enough from me now. So who's looking forward to that Sailor Moon reboot and musical? And wasn't that new episode of Doki Doki PreCure just hilarious?

  8. I always think that it would be fantastic if they made a story mod for Skyrim, which would have among other things made Alduin into the surreal and fearsome Kālī-esque god figure as described in The Seven Fights of The Aldudagga.

And Snow Whales. Still odd how they forgot about adding them.

  9. It took two steps back in terms of developments made by the previous movies. The second movie all around improved on the first one in terms of story, characters, visuals and music. Even the third one upped the visual aspect and gave decent villain.

    TLR was just... lame.
