Tell me who isn't over-powered in the Bionicle universe. The matoran. And maybe Krekka.
Vortixx are, perhaps, the most reasonably powered beings in the entire MU.

Finally, Takanuva can't move at light speed. He has control over light, he doesn't have the properties of light.
As a Toa, Takanuva controls Light, and wears the Avohkii, Mask of Light. He can create lasers, beams of light, and is experimenting with increased speed and solid light projections.

And light speed is mentioned as one of Light powers.
Welcome to 'canon should be rebuild from the very basics' squad.

Stone and Ice: unlimited amounts of any tools and furniture without flexible parts.
Earth: sliding through moving, well, earth under one's feet.
All three: armour and replacement limbs.
Now if you think about possibilities of basic six - did we even actually need all this plasma and stuff?..

Little to none usage of masks and elemental powers.

We have reached the apogee of years-long canonizing spree.

That brings up an interesting idea:
The elements are separated as they are not because of chemical/material composition, but by behavior.
How comes that this idea wasn't brought up and widely accepted in the fandom, like, some considerable time ago?..

In every series except Bionicle
>what is Pokemon with its Ground and Rock types

What do you associate with water?
What do you associate with ice?
How different are associations for two elements above?
What do you associate with mud?

What I said about Kraata powers potentially not existing in 2001 is entirely relevant. Sets come before story. If the story team didn't think of Kraata and their powers until 2003, then there's no way Teridax could have used them in-story two years earlier.
Huh? Of course he could. The fact that the story team hadn't thought of Kraata at the time we saw the infected Rahi saga doesn't mean that in-story the Kraata didn't exist during that saga.
But it also doesn't mean that powers exhibited in 2001 are automatically kraata powers.
You can't explain something written in 2001 via concepts invented in 2003 until 2003.
Wrong. We already knew that the Kanohi were infected in 2001, we just didn't know how they were infected.
Your logic also makes the Metru Nui saga impossible, since the Turaga sets came before the Toa Metru sets therefore the Turaga couldn't have originally been the Toa Metru.
Also wrong, and also not Cheesy's logic. You stretch his logic from "you can't explain something with a concept until you have this concept" to "you can't write prequels".
Same goes for the Core War: the sets of all those warriors that fought there weren't released until 2009, so the Core War can't possibly have happened before the rest of the BIONICLE saga, even though we know it did.
See above.

Strong yes,
1:1 within each element and (if setwise) 1:1-2:1 for the main cast,
yes as in "unlock what is locked".
-
Internet, don't you dare do that to Bonkles. You've already made Pokemon, MLP and FNaF unclean, you're not doing with Bionicle, too!
It already did.
So, nothing really changes.

Has anyone here ever tried not continuing, but rewriting and altering?
-
Where to get rules for this?

So basically, Mjoll, you're arguing for gender-dominant tribes rather than gender-exclusive, like my personal headcanon (Fem!Nuhrii ftw).
If we can't throw 70M/30F ratio away, it'd better be in each element equally.
Too bad we can't throw away gender-element locking.

I just googled the gender divide on earth out of curiosity and found some interesting stuff. It seems Qatar and the United Arab Emirates have more than twice as many males than females, almost 70% male... If it's possible here in real life why then can people not accept that it can be possible in a fictional universe inhabited by Lego robots?
Because there isn't a hard in-universe rule saying that Qatar or UAE can't have less than 70% male or that all women in there should apply only to a predetermined number of professions?
I've read and re-read this and I still have no idea what point you were trying to make. Is there one??
The point is that 70M/30F ratio in each element is better for character building than 70M/30Fratio overall made of seven 100M elements and three 100F elements.

it's well known (hopefully) that in an ongoing series, even though the writer gets first/foremost control on what happens, if an element in a story is problematic, and the bulk of the fanbase vocally states their regards to the problematic element, it is generally considered good form for the writer to find a way to alter/remove the problematic element. :t
Then where was the entire Bonkle fanbase while G1 was ongoing?

What about people who are so against retconns because "they don't do anything" try to focus all their energy that they've been using on opposing such retconnes on making a difference in G2? Just a thought.
Because they can't make a difference in G2, that's why.
And nobody can except for current storywriters.
-
well then there's our problem, :0
Seems it's too late... and it was always too late.
-
When Greg says "no", for example.
but the entire point of a story retcon is to change that silly little "no" into a more positive "yes". :U
Greg can say "no" an unlimited amount of times, especially regarding something (no matter how good or bad) set by higher storywriters.
-
this isn't really the place to argue about grammar, this is more of the place to talk about how poorly Bionicle-1 handled its gender ratio and what we can do to fix it posthumously. :t
That depends on whether or not we can afford retcons.
If we can't, then we can't change anything.
If we can, then why only change locked gender for plasma?
when can't you afford retcons?
When Greg says "no", for example.

Making all the elements mono-gendered would most likely end all the debates, and make me happy.
I think you misspelled something.

There is no connection between shape and power of masks anymore since... when?
So probably yes.
