  1. Interesting. While monoeyes, especially red ones, are really common (probably ever since the Zaku first showed up in Gundam back in '79), the rest of the design elements, in particular the color and the disk-shaped head seem almost too particular to be a coincidence. While the first design of Keetongu looked very different altogether, the playset does lend some more merit to the idea that it was inspired by some mecha design. There is also the possibility that both share a "common ancestor", but with all my knowledge about mecha franchises I wouldn't know which one it could be.
  2. Hey everyone, The other day I was scrolling through old, japanese mech designs again, like I always do, and I came across an oddly familiar design; The A-Toll Scritti as found in Mamoru Nagano's The Five Star Stories. more images here The disk-shaped head, the red mono-eye bulb and the striking yellowish-orange immediately reminded me of Keetongu. However, this design is at least a couple years older, the first resin kit dates back to 1999. Now I'm left wondering if this design might've inspired Keetongu directly or indirectly. I tried to do some digging, but I couldn't even find out who designed Keetongu in the first place. Does anyone here have any other information or speculation on Keetongu's origin and/or designer? ~Owls
  3. Hey everyone, I hope it's alright for me to announce this here. I'll likely be starting to slowly sell the protos I found around 2 years ago, starting with the Trident. I will be doing so through Bricklink, so if you're interested please make sure you have the parts on your wanted list alerts. Unfortunately I will not be able to sell the parts to US residents since the DHL stopped all private shipments to the states above 800€ as a response the increase in bureocratic hurdles as a result of the tarrifs. The other shipping company I used to use downright stopped all shipments outside the EU earlier this year. I also don't see any of this changing in the near future, so I'm sorry for that. If you have any questions feel free to msg me. ~Owls
  4. Hey, there's not a lot more I can say about where I got em from. I've been running a small Bionicle-centered BL store for a while, which is why I'm looking through lots to buy multiple times a day. The prototypes/misprints are from such a lot. It wasn't a cheap lot either and I was about 80% certain that those parts must've been bootlegs/fakes, but I was just curious enough to take the gamble. The rest of the lot was nothing too noteworthy; a few Toa Mata, a few Turaga and the Nui-Jaga, along with a few loose parts and two decks of the Bionicle TCG. I guess the best information I can provide is that the lot came from a city in the very north of Germany, very close to the Danish border, so it's not unlikely whoever sold them knew someone at Lego back in the day. I'll try my best to get images with other parts of the same color the next time I get the chance, since I don't currently have the sapce or access to a nice photo setup. But I can guarantee that the material is the exact same as Lego's ABS plastic. -Owls
  5. Hey, I’m Owls. Earlier this year I found 6 different assumed prototype/misprint parts; 5 Kanohi and 1 Weapon as I’ve documented on Twitter and I’m pretty sure some other people have already posted about this in this thread. I can provide further proof if needed. First of all, I know it’s a bit late but I’m open to answer any further questions about the parts. Second of all, since I’m no collector I’ve decided after some consideration that I’ll probably sell them off over time, with the exception or one or two of the Kanohi(the Teal Matatu in particular). This is why I’m looking for some price estimates, both for the masks and the light blue Trident. I know there have been some recent sales like the Copper Avohkii and Light Blue Kakama, but as far as I am aware multiple of those exist while the ones I acquired seem to be entirely unique (with the exception of the yellow Ruru). I appreciate any help in this subject and hope I can answer some questions in turn. -Owls
