I know what the next BZPCraft needs to be.

    The Tower of Pimps!

I know it doesn't seem terribly exciting, but having been watching all of the RoosterTeeth Minecraft Let's Plays, it seems like it could work perfectly well with our group. It'd be a nice, simple, easy one too. A good chance of pace.

Hey guys! So I'm being interviewed in a few days about the Best and Worst Video Games of 2012 (no idea why the school newspaper's doing an article on that, but no complaints here). So I'm reaching out to gauge opinions.

So, to YOU, what would you rank as the BEST and WORST video games that were released this year? You can have multiple games under each category, I'm just looking to see what you all consider the top and bottom.

Little busy from my usual loafing around today...

Chose to finally ask my long-time girlfriend to marry me.

    She did indeed say yes!

    Soooo... yeah haha. Wow.

So this month was pretty awesome. And that includes some of my haul.

First of all, thank you very, very much TheFMAlchemist63 for Karzahni & co. and Radiak. They're all sets I've wanted for quite a long time and I'm very happy to have them.

And Mewtwo? Wow. If the D-Arts line had started with Pokémon, I think it'd be an even bigger success right now.

Although, my Mewtwo is a little defective. :/ Came out of the package with a messed up right bicep; it popped off and shredded some of the peg when I first tried to turn it. Looks like the hole in the lower arm was misshapen. It went back on and stays, but posing is a nightmare because it just pulls on that connection instead of moving the arm at the shoulder like I want it to. And I sometimes need to "push" it in a little bit to look flush... But it's ultimately a collector's piece so will stay posed on the shelf most of the time, so I'm not too concerned.

I do wish I had some Transformers loot to show off too. I don't know whether it's laziness or I genuinely just couldn't find the time/justification to catch a bus and go out hoping to find something. And reports from other fans in my area saying there's nothing here didn't help. But once I'm home next week, I plan to finally go buy Bioshock Infinite, so that'll be a perfect opportunity to check out Wal-Mart too.

And D-arts Charizard is on his way. And I just ordered figma Pit and am awaiting confirmation on that... So next month should be pretty big heh.

Also... Gotta love Mewtwo's Shadow Ball effect part:

So today was the first day of my sixth semester of college.

And one class stood out far, fary above the others.

IST 446: An Introduction to Building Computer/Video Games

    Why, you ask?

We are being forced to play Mass Effect, World of Warcraft, and League of Legends.

    For a class.

Now, I never wanted to touch LoL and WoW and am actually most disappointed Portal was apparently cut in favor of LoL... But a lot of people have wanted me to get into the ME series and I guess it's about time I did.

We're also going to have to design our own games and do other work, but we're expected to play at least 7 hours of these games. And some other smaller ones will be touched on, like.... Farmville...

It's really looking to be my favorite class of the semester already.

I want to blog and didn't really know what to do.

EDIT: We've added 5 more levels and tweaked the player controls some.

So here's my game so far!

As of this post, there's only 5 workable levels. I'd especially appreciate some feedback on level 5... Whether it's too hard or anything else you think should be changed.

Oh! And the title screen is horrible, so here are some instructions. xP

Left/Right or A/D to move left and right.
    Up/W/Space to jump
P activate phase mode. You can walk through walls 'n stuff.

    Enjoy.

I don't think I've ever taken part in this blogging cliche. So it's about time I did!

So go on. All week, I want people to be asking me questions. About absolutely anything.

I'd prefer them posted here, but go ahead and PM me too if you want to stay anonymous. I'll probably post the answers here - maintaining anonymity - unless they're not appropriate/you don't want me to.

    So ask away!

ALRIGHTY! It's day SEVEN! I've gotten a good batch of questions so far, but something appears to be lacking. They're all amusing. I want some personal ones! This is your chance to get to know me. So on this last day (well unless I do a day 8 just for this reason ), feel free to let loose!

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Ghost Ore Damashii (w/first run bonus Yurusen)
    S.H. Figuarts Pikachu
    Just Cause 3
    LEGO Disney minifigure collection Genie
    LEGO Disney minifigure collection Aladdin
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
    Transformers Combiner Wars Deluxe Groove
    S.H. Figuarts Mace Windu
S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Specter Ore Damashii (w/first run bonus Specter, Edison, Nobunaga, Tutankhamen, and Kanon Eyecons)
Had everything ready to go to post at the end of the month despite all the traveling I did, but then got back home today and had a few packages waiting for me. So I retook things and still screwed up and left things out lol. Didn't feel like setting up again at that point, sooo three pics it is.

    Pikachu kinda just sucks.

Ghost and Specter are another two solid Kamen Rider Figuarts. Nothing too outlandish about them, but how they accomplished the hoods (should've done one with the hood up part) is cool.

    Mace looks fantastic.

Finally we can affordably get deluxe Groove, yes! Looks cool.

Just Cause 3 has been fun but feels like it's missing something from the last game. It's a bit too structured in its approach to chaos, if that makes any sense.

And now Aladdin and Genie... My first blind bagged minifigs. I quickly learned I'm simply horrible at feeling for these. Fortunately an incredibly nice couple helped me feel bags and their picks were spot on. Think some of my back ups might have been close, but oh well. Thanks you guys! Very pleased with these. As is my wife (wait what?) so that's good haha. Looking forward to a possible series two with hopefully more characters tickling my fancy.

How the heck do you guys do it?

Those of you who have travelled great distances just for an internship.

    How?

I was offered just an interview with Amazon - after not hearing anything for 5 months! - and can't bring myself to accept, just for the anxiety of going so far away. Being so alone there. But that's if I even get it, of course...

Not to mention I'm only now really learning about the algorithms and whatnot they'd be asking me about in the interview.

Add to that the stress of being given 5 days to decide...

And I'm a wreck right now.

So our game was voted best in the class!

For those wanting to check it out, here it is again.

And HERE is a link to (most of) the other games made by the class. I'm quite a fan of Neuro, Leecher, and Gravity Assist myself.

Overall the last day of classes for my sixth semester of college ended on quite the high note. Had a pizza party in one class and won a Pizza Hut gift card in another. And had a ton of fun gaming with my club last night.

Finally sat down and watched the first episode of Firefly last night with some friends.

I have to say... I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The only thing that seemed odd to me was that both in pacing and aesthetics it seemed very much more film-like than an episode of a TV show. That's not to its detriment at all, but was just a curios observation.

Don't know when I'll find time for the rest, but I have no doubt I'd like to watch it.

Hey everyone... I've been pretty silent here lately but have been checking in daily still. Just not a whole lot to say I guess.

I have been holding onto one thing though...

In March I received and accepted my first job offer - as a software developer for IBM in Austin, Texas!

I'm super excited to have such an opportunity given to me. Finally all of my work paid off... Even if I still haven't received anything else and I do feel somewhat pushed into a corner when it comes to my options...

Well this weekend I finally went down to visit the office and drive around the area. Oh boy...

I think I like the office. I know I like the premise of the product I'll be working on. My team all seems really nice. But they seem to be expecting a whole lot out of me and as a first job I don't know what to expect and it's making me incredibly nervous.

As for Austin itself... Wow it's hot here. And not even summer. Ugh. That'll take some getting used to. Also, the traffic is absolutely horrendous. And toll roads just to get anywhere?! Not cool. Worst of all and most importantly, I just do not have any idea where to live or what to shoot for. I think I'd want at least a 2 bedroom apartment just for the space but know nothing of neighborhoods or anything...

I don't have a car, furniture, or even know if my girlfriend will go down with me yet (I've not even graduated college to even look at these things!)... Yet half a dozen agents - and counting - that IBM has contracted for my move have contacted me for al of these details and more. It's stressing me out so much.

More than anything the distance is driving me crazy. I'll be so far removed from all that I know and love and it scares me. It scares me tremendously. I'll be moving into unknown territory in all ways. I still can't convince myself wholly that this is where I should be. But if I change my mind now... I have no other option. I killed myself with stress for just getting a job offer and don't want to go back to that... Not that this is much better right now. I'm scared, plain and simple, but I can't bring myself to just accept having nothing by saying no.

So I've got a lot to think about lately. A lot to think about that makes being a horrendously indecisive person a very bad thing.

(I didn't go stalk RoosterTeeth by the way... there'll be time for that. )

I move in just under a week, so before the movers come I finally moved stuff out of the way to get to the last shelf I needed to take a picture of to show off everything I had displayed.

    Let's get started, shall we?

First up is Star Wars! My collection is still pretty small but continues to grow (and with S.H. Figuarts Star Wars now announced, I'm sure it won't stop). These guys actually don't have a dedicated space yet, but once I move in to my apartment I plan to line them up in front of all my Star Wars books.

And now, anime! My how this shelf has grown! I'm pretty pleased with what I have here, but I'm not sure how I want to expand it. I'm still looking for Kirito at a good price (HAH!), Naruto and Saber 2.0 are on preorder, but I'm not sure what else I want to dip my hand into. A Silver Crow? Lelouch?? More Fate/Zero/Stay Night?? Who knows.

Now, my game stuff. Still haven't gotten those Assassin's Creed guys I've been saying I would (which I'm actually angry about after seeing the Blackbeard three-pack in stores, but of course couldn't do anything without family yelling at me), nor D-Arts MegaMan... But hey, I still like everything. This picture does, however, predate me acquiring Lucario.

Next up, half of my Transformers collection! All of my older stuff (sans RID Megatron because why not?) will be staying in storage at my parent's house, but I hope to one day have the space and shelving to put them all out. Thanks to those childhood toys, this is actually the oldest collection I started.

My latest and biggest interest, though, is definitely the Toku shelf. This one is also a little out of date, seeing as I already have Kamen Riders Gaim and Baron, but who knows where I'd find room anyways? (It also just hit me that these, combined with the game shelf, will have nowhere to go in the apartment and I need to go buy a new bookshelf... Oops. At least they have nice boxes to stay in until then heh.)

And my proudest assortment... BIONICLE! While not my oldest collection, these guys are undeniably what made me go from just buying toys to wanting to really collect. And I'm still at it. There's some small holes circa 2001, 2003, and 2008 I have yet to fill (small as in number of sets, the sets themselves are of course mostly the larger ones), as well as pretty much all of 2009 and 2010... But I think I'll get there eventually. The extra disposable income I'll be seeing soon should help.

I'll definitely be doing some update shots in the new place, but with the realization above, I'm not toooo sure when that'll be heh. But it will happen, as well as some general shots of my apartment to show off some cool things not on the shelves.

S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Knuckle Kurumi Arms
    S.H. Figuarts Battle Droid
S.H. Figuarts Clone Trooper Phase 1
S.H. Figuarts Kamen Rider Kurokage Mastubokkuri Arms
    Transformers Combiner Wars Shockwave
    Funko Pop! BB-8
    LEGO Ideas Doctor Who
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D
A Song of Ice and Fire: A Feast for Crows
    Star Wars: A New Dawn
    Doctor Who Monopoly
    Doctor Who t-shirt (not pictured)
    Star Wars clock
    Nintendo Amiibo Lucas
    S.H. Figuarts First Order Stormtrooper
    S.H. Figuarts Kylo Ren
(BB-8 through the clock are from Christmas.)

Figuarts dominated my purchases this month, with Star Wars being very prominent throughout everything really. But let's talk Kamen Rider first. With Knuckle and Kurokage in my hands, I finally have all Gaim Riders!! Yes! There's still Lord Baron to look forward to, but otherwise I'm done and I freaking love looking at them all together.

The Star Wars Figuarts are a mixed bag of mostly good. The one I don't like is the Clone Trooper. While it looks great, it suffers immensely in the articulation department. Hips are as rubbish as the Stormtrooper's (I'm serious when I say they may be the worst I've had from a Figuart) and I just can't seem to get him to hold his gun closer to his body. Thankfully the First Order Stormtrooper absolutely blows them out of the water. The hips in particular are great; they're a brand new design for the entire line and I think are only the second Figuart to use something like it. I haven't had as much time to mess with it, but it's great. Kylo Ren I also only picked up yesterday, but so far I'm liking him. Not much to say there other than he's cool. The real standout - which is odd even to me - is the Battle Droid. Wow. This Battle Droid... is perfect. Anything I want to do, it can, and looks great doing so.

Lucas I ordered from AmiAmi to be sent with my December order as a very last minute thing before it shipped since he randomly came back in stock. At least now I don't have to worry about him next month and can take an Amiibo break for a while until the next two come out. I think I like him more than Ness's Amiibo to be honest. Shockwave was the first Transformer I picked up in a long while and I love the little guy. Just such a good figure. Finally, I really need to find a place to display my Pop! vinyls now with BB-8 joining the party. That was an early Christmas gift from my fiancée and I simply adore it. Plus he's a bobblehead, which is super fun.

Got some new forms of media entertainment for the first time in a while. Was holding off on a few purchases explicitly for the holidays, so I'll probably be getting the rest of those soon now. Anyways, got another A Song of Ice and Fire book that I'll get to eventually. Good news is I'm almost done with other book so I can start reading the one before it soon haha. Also have my second new canon Star Wars book, which I only realized as I started to write this that it's the same size as all of the others........ When Tarkin wasn't and I swear copies of A New Dawn I saw in the bookstore before were the same as it..... So much for that excitement I had over the easily noticeable split between Legends and canon on my shelves haha. Oh, and I got Majora's Mask like I figured. I've only played it a little but wow I can see this one taking me a good long while.

I didn't make a dedicated Christmas haul post this year since I really just didn't feel like it. But the miscellaneous things remaining in my list come from there. The clock I included because it's cool; it came from my sister, as well as the silverware I mentioned elsewhere that she'd be getting me. Sorry, no pictures of that. I also didn't think to take pictures of the Doctor Who Monopoly or t-shirt, and they're still in the process of being shipped to Texas right now. But they, and the Ideas Doctor Who set (also in the mail so haven't built it yet but ohhh how I want to!), came from my fiancée's side of the family. There was definitely a noticeable theme there haha.

So yeah. That's this month and thus 2015 over. I plan to do a collection update once my Christmas packages arrive so I can include those things. A lot has changed since just May.

Barely a day later, I've been notified I didn't get that internship for Amazon I interviewed for.

So much for the week estimate they gave me on an answer... They were still interviewing people at my school alone today even.

As a friend who was also told no (and in his case it hadn't even been 24 hours), it's like "they didn't even consider us."

    Oh well...

Wow! What a month. I hadn't realized until I started taking pictures just how much I bought/arrived this month.

First up - Bandai Tamashii products!

The D-arts MetalGarurumon and Blastoise are amazing. Both are visually stunning, but Blastoise is predictably limited in the articulation department. But MetalGarurumon? That guy is just loads of fun to play with - although his abdomen was TERRIFYINGLY tight and I had to be really patient in loosening that up.

Kamen Rider Beast looks cool. And he came with a free stand for W, which is also cool. That's about it to him haha.

And then there's DragonRanger... Or as I'll always think of him, the Green Ranger. I had the US version (which will lack some accessories that aren't relevant outside of Japan and feature special packaging) preordered on Amazon, but then the release date was revealed to be not until the middle of next month, despite other places getting him sooner. So I added him onto my order with Blastoise and Beast since it would end up costing me less and I got him sooner. I believe it was last year's SDCC that he was first shown off and I've been waiting ever since. Man, does he look cool.

    Transformers time!

So my big thing didn't arrive yet. But it should soon, along with yet another massive item I'm not sure I should have bought haha. More on that later though... Anyways, I broke down and bought Blaster and the data disks at my comic book shop, because even at their inflated prices, it was better than online and I never found him anywhere else. And they're all loads of fun.

Also, Minion Dave I "stole" from work. He says banana. It's hilarious.

    Star Wars books.

Had to "settle" for some books I really haven't been crazy about picking up since Barnes & Noble didn't have a big selection lol. But Scourge was great and Shadow Games was alright. Jedi Twilight is on a long list that I've been purposefully avoiding, but the lack of novels I did want pushed me to finally start them, which I will probably tonight.

Finally, but most certainly not least...

This item comes courtesy of DeeVee. And I love it. I so wish I were going to BrickFair this weekend to thank you in person, but alas I still just don't have a way of getting down there.

    ----

So that's it for this month. I wish I had gotten out to go shopping on my own to look for more Transformers (I really am saying that a lot, huh? At least I did actually do that some this month lol.) and even the new Star Wars Black Series figures since those just came out, but I was either with family or feared retribution from my mother if I couldn't hide that I bought things... Even just coming home with Blaster, she drilled me over spending money. One second she's saying she understands I have a hobby and enjoy it, but the next she's yelling at me to not spend money. It's not like I don't know to watch my finances. I don't ever spend too much or outside my means. I am an adult now, after all. I'd hope she'd let me make my own decisions. (In fact, that's pretty much why I've never asked to go to BrickFair these past few years. I know my parents wouldn't let me go down by myself. Ever. Even in spite of the fact that I could crash with my uncle and go with him and my little cousin [who has gone before and they talked about maybe going again this year when they visited...], I know it would be a no. Oh well... Eventually I'll be on my own and can travel to all of these cons I've been wanting to for years.)

It's going to make the big boxes coming here soon very interesting, though. The first she knows about since I warned her weeks ago when I won the contest - Optibotimus just took a while to mail them out (but he did say it could take a while, so I'm not upset or anything). The second she doesn't know at all, and I just realized it's released tomorrow, so coupled with my Amazon Prime shipping, should be here Saturday or Monday haha. That's going to be loads of fun lol. But both will definitely get their own entries when I receive them.

A Song of Ice and Fire: A Dance with Dragons
    Transformers Titans Return Blurr
    Transformers Titans Return Skullsmasher
Really don't know how much longer I'm going to keep this up. Just whenever I post elsewhere I feel the need to here as well since I've never missed a month... Kept me coming back to this place every once in a while at the very least.

Anyway, didn't get much. Wanted more but just couldn't find many TR in stores.

So there's a toy show going on in Japan for Tamashii Nations. And they're showing off their new D-Arts.

I showed you Mewtwo already. Well now here's Charizard!

Blastoise and Venusaur are above them (and you can even see their feet), but no pics yet.

They also apparently have a Pikachu in there somewhere.

And on a related note, there's also apparently a ton of new Digimon D-Arts somewhere. My wallet is going to despise me next year...

    Update:

And here they are! Venusaur and Blastoise, folks!

Well, it took a bit longer than expected, but... he's here. In short order I have received both of the Transformers labeled "biggest ever" - and this next one has even just released! It came as quite a shock that we'd get anything this big, and I was definitely most pleasantly surprised. Now, here's a lock at the second of Transformers' Titans - Generations Metroplex.

Predictably, he's got a big box:

It's really cool, too. I probably like it more an the SDCC one (which is stupidly large because it houses him inside a second box in the outer box, although the inner one being a hangar is rather cool) because it really conveys that Metroplex is a big guy. And it's also blatantly a toy ad because it features all of the upcoming Deluxe Autobot figures, which I do want haha. Granted, the back of Fort Max's was even worse since it featured pretty much everything that was available at the time. Anyways, it looks nice.

    What's in it, though...

Doesn't look as good. Sweet mother of twist ties... Ugh. Those were horrible. There were also loose parts on top of that which wasn't cool. And that arm... I simply cannot understand why they needed to package him with it separated. And it's not clear how you should attach it to him in the instructions, either. I initially thought I had a bad one because his arm sagged so much and fell out very easily. I tried plugging the clip in rotated 90 degrees, but there seemed to be too much resistance at first and I assumed this was wrong. Well, it was right. And my major complaint simply vanished. But it shouldn't have been packaged that way anyways.

So, Metroplex's vehicle mode? Yeah it looks a lot like him sitting down. I wish those big arms of his could open up and the hands flipped inside. That would help the look so much for his alternate modes. The helmet is also a nightmare since it doesn't always flip back into place properly from this configuration, leading to much fiddling. And finally it just looks bad without the stickers haha. They really do add a lot. But! He has massive wheels that work tremendously well and so this mobile battle station actually is a bit of a success.

City mode doesn't look as much as a city as Fort Max's, but because all of his joints, you can easily reconfigure things. I rather like the fan mode that has his legs split at a ninety degree angle so they look less like, well, legs. There's no way to fix the figure's biggest problem, though, other than just ignoring it... That ramp that comes out of his chest is just useless. It doesn't line up with the leg in either battle station or city mode. It's especially bad in city mode because it's just a straight drop. The smoothness of all of Fort Max's ramps are a major boons for the mode and rather fun. You're not having fun with this part of Metroplex's city.

Metroplex's bonus figure is Scamper. He does a fantastic job of reminding me that I was silly for scoffing at the Legends figures for so long as they've truly gotten pretty good. He's a fun little guy.

Robot mode. Robot mode robot mode robot mode. Oh boy. This is what I wanted. A genuine behemoth who can articulate so, so well. Too bad his knees and hips are pretty floppy... He'll hold a pose, but pick him up with them bent too much and the weight of his own legs will cause them to fall straight. It's also really easy to bump them out of position. This is a huuuuge contrast to Fort Max's hips, which are by far the strongest ratchet joints I have ever seen. You need a good grip to even try moving those (but that's a good thing).

He also really is the new biggest ever. He doesn't tower over Fort Max, but there's no denying the height advantage (which would be even more extreme if you extend the towers on his shoulders). You can also see here, compared to the previous picture, a cool little gimmick of his - he has a visor that flips down. Looks really cool when his eyes light up. His eyes, by the way, can move left and right. The chest also lights up and there are a good number of (very loud) voice clips to round out the electronics. I just wish the two AA batteries had been included haha.

Aaand another pic just for a size comparison.

Now as I mentioned before, I got this guy via Amazon - and he was meant to be released on August 1 for those who preordered, which I did. However, they oversold those preorders and so many had to just wait for additional stock... That would have been totally fine with me if they had just sent some sort of notice. I received nothing when my order status changed from "shipping August 1" to "no delivery date available." Come on, Amazon... A change to an order like that should automatically trigger an email notification. There's no way of knowing if you'll ever actually get your item with a status like that either. My concern was getting it before leaving for school, so luckily it didn't take long for more stock to be made available.

Sorry about that rant... So Metroplex! I like him. A lot. I just got down stickering him up before writing this (Fort Max is probably going to stay stickerless, by the way) and it helps his appearance a whoooole lot. I didn't find anything wrong with robot mode - and there weren't many stickers for that to begin with anyways. (Which reminds me - the SDCC version I mentioned. It had chrome thighs and a face. That's the only difference. If you don't care about those throwbacks to the G1 toy - which I didn't - the retail release is perfectly acceptable. I'll admit I think the chrome face really pops, but the thighs are so big I think it looked bad there.) But all of the runway details for battle station mode make it so much nicer to look at.

Hope you guys liked this look as well. And I just found where Fort Max can stand, but I'm already back to shuffling things around to make room for this guy...

I sometimes really miss this community. And others I used to be involved in as part of the larger BIONICLE/LEGO fandom.

So I occasionally peak in, see how things are going... Generally without comment, and usually leaving a little more saddened by not feeling connected to it anymore and that things in general are really rather... quiet. Which I suppose makes sense when the focal point and passion of the fandom is dead again.

But man, what passion... I dedicated so much of my formative years to this, as did so many others. They're great memories. And I am glad to see some still chugging away at it and newer folks still somehow discovering it.

I'm not sure what made this visit different. Anywhere I'm present online now, I more often than not just lurk and not contribute. Quite the contrast to how I used to be. Just don't have the time and energy to. So a mix of nostalgia, boredom, sorrow, and maybe a touch of hope. Reflecting a lot, I suppose. I know it's not going to change anything and I'm not really back - not even sure I'll respond to anything here. I just really, really wanted to say...

    Hi.

    And I miss you all.

Those who will read this and those who have long since moved on before I did.

And thank you for all those memories.

Got my first assignment in my game design class - make a game prototype on your own. It doesn't have to be flashy or even all that extensive. If you're making a level-based game, just one leve would even be good enough.

So I'm making a childhood favorite - DugDug!

And last night I chose to get a little creative with the sprites... And am henceforth renaming my game Diggy Diggy Hole.

And here's the other line out of Toy Fair that has me most excited!

    In packaging:

    Darth Maul:

Also displayed were R2-D2 and a Sandtrooper. Together the four comprise the first wave. There's four more figures already planned but they're keeping them secret... But I'm sure one of them will be a retail Boba since the SDCC exclusive is him.

They look incredible in my opiion and I can't wait to get them!

There's a toooon of cool stuff that was shown off at Toy Fair, but beyond these and a metric ton more Transformers (which I could never fully cover well, there's so many), not much I'll probably end up buying. But they're all worth looking into if you want to look at some cool stuff for all sorts of different lines.
