    Fun stuff happens to my family.
     
    We were on our way out the door to leave for choir, when this strange sound emitted from the shrubs.
     
    The first thought that went through everybody's mind was 'Pft, it's Max.' Max is our neighbor's cat, and he loves to hide in our bushes and chase the spiders on our porch.
     
    But Max doesn't keep meowing like this cat did.
     
    A couple minutes of persuasion found us with a black-and-white adult cat, about 4 or 5 years old, with beautiful green eyes and ribs and hips showing through his fur.

    The cat ate a full dish of food in under a minute. We doubt he's feral - He hasn't been declawed or neutered, but he's very friendly towards people and comes when called (to ''kitty'', a mouse-like noise we use for our other cats, and if he's looking your way, just to a turn of the finger). We brought him in the house so we could watch him while we called the shelter, and he didn't act like he hadn't lived in a house before - he tended to stay around the kitchen, which we soon realized meant he was asking for scraps, as he runs around and through your legs and meows at the sound of bags opening or a skillet frying. He also showed submission to the cats of our house rather quickly, which was awfully interesting to watch (it's all body language, the way cats communicate).
     
    He's a very sweet kitty - loves to be held and loves to sit on laps. ^^
     
    So if there isn't a call in for him after a while, we may just keep him.
     
    Which will be awesome, considering we lost a cat last year to lung cancer.

    It's nothing too huge, but it's awesome anyways. My grandmother (an excellent artist and the one who spoke to me on the author's behalf) had only one critique looking over my art beforehand:
     
    "You need to make more happy faces!"

    She's right. ._.
     
    As I am without a sketchbook at this very moment, I shall have to improvise!

    Just a note: I will be fairly absent from July 8-12 (Vacation Bible School), and I will be gone from July 13-21 (NAMB World Changers project down in Southern Georgia).
     
    Just, y'know, in case I forget. Which I tend to do.

    Brownie Points

    First of all:
     
    I've got to give a great big THANK YOU to Uncle K.com for the gift.

    I just realized it's really quiet in my house right now. Might be because of the fact that both of my siblings and my dad are gone for the week....
     
    Na...that can't be it...
     
    Yeah, my mom and I are spending some quality time together this week, which we usually never get to do because of the busyness of our summer. It's awesome, cause I've recently learned that she's been through exactly what I'm going through. (Which is kind of a 'yeah, duh' thing, but I JUST realized it.) So we get to have some of those down-to-earth talks, and we get to go shopping and stuff. (Not for clothes, because that's silly. )
     
    I'm actually getting these three pics matted and framed for the Ohio State Fair as well. (The second picture is getting a custom-made frame, with triple amtting and glass and everything. 8D) So if you stop by the Fair in August, look for these pics hanging in the Highschool Art Division Room, as well as a fourth that's in progress.
     
    And we're making brownies. Which is also cool, cause my dad and siblings usually eat all the brownies before my mom and I have any, so we get to eat the whole pan this week to make up for all the ones we've never had.

    I went to Wal-Mart.
     
    I ran to the Lego aisle.
     
    I saw Mahri.
     
    And Hydraxon.
     
    And Maxilos & Spinax.
     
    And Deep Sea Patrol.
     
    But I have no money, because I had to use it for food last week.
     
    So I stared at them pretty canister and boxes.
     
    For a while.
     
    And I went home.
     
    And brooded in a corner with my empty wallet.

    Because MATH IS FREAKING ANNOYING.
     
    I'll take paper writing anyday, heck, if i'm lucky, you can get me to explain a mathematical theorem in writing.
     
    But hand me a marker and ask me to finish an equation?

    What? ... No Comic? What!?

    I went merrily strolling to the mailbox today to meet Mr. Mailman as he drove up. He's a wonderful guy - he helps my dad out fixing his car, and he knows I and my siblings love Lego. ^^
     
    So when I saw him pull up with a huge grin on his face, I knew it immediately.
     
    LEGO MAGAZINES AHOY.
     
    After being handed a pile of assorted letters and pizza coupons, I proceeded to whip out both mine and my brother's edition of the publishment of glory out of the mess and leaf through my copy's pages frantically, trying to find that loverly gathering of artwork that I've been so anxious to look at since Dokuma reported its lovely arrival in other parts of the States earlier this month. (I've been avoiding all spoilers, save for the outspoken fact that has now flooded Artwork1.)
     
    Before I had realized it, I was staring at the last page (which, I must admit, was a rather cool flip-open ad, but it wasn't what I was looking for).
     
    "Huh... what? Did I miss something?"
     
    The magazine was flipped through again. And a third time.
     
    Nothing.
     
    I asked my brother if he had a copy. He proceeded to shake his head and hurrily glance through the pages.
     
    Nothing.

    For some reason, both of our copies of the November/December Lego Magazine were stripped of their Bionicle comic goodness. There's no residue from the normal peel-off glue that attaches it to the first page, so I'm thinking that it was maybe an error that happened before shipment...
     
    Already called Customer Service, and now we shall wait 2-3 buisness days for a replacement. I'll be grinding my fingers on my kneecaps until then.
     
    ...
     
    My question of interest: Has anyone else had this problem? >.O

    I learned something important today.
     
    Always, always, always make sure to eat something if you know you will be doing back-breaking labor for four hours straight without breaks. Even if you did eat breakfast at 10:30 and your mother tells you to eat lunch at 12 when you are still working off breakfast.
     
    You know what happens if you don't?
     
    ...
     
    Well, assorted things, but if you're me, you wind up almost passing out at 2 while carrying heavy boxes down stairs, and then the residential team EMU has to sit you down in the corner of the kitchen, give you water, sugar, and Sun Chips, and command you to stay put, cause you're whiter than the bleached shirt you're wearing.

    I finally ate something with substance at 4, so yay, I'm not dead. =D
     
    So the lesson is: LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER, CAUSE SHE IS SMARTER THAN YOU THINK SHE IS.

    Forgive

    Hey members.
     
    Quick comment.
     
    If you want to stay friends with someone -
     
    Learn to forgive and forget.
     
    It's important to kinda nudge our friends in the right direction if they make mistakes, yes.
     
    But no matter how big the mistake is, if the person apologizes, forgive. Then forget - that doesn't mean bring it up later. Learn to let it go. Clutching onto a negative memory doesn't make you a better person than everyone else.
    Holding onto something like that just causes resentment and bitterness and all sorts of messes on all sides involved - being a true friend means sharing trust with another person and knowing that everyone (yes, including your uber-cool, "perfect" friends) makes mistakes.
     
    Also, having the mindset of "well if they won't forgive me, then I won't forgive them" is not superior. It is arrogant and selfish.
     
    Prick that ego of yours, let it go, and for goodness sake, get on to the better things in life! Like real friends. Real friends are better than overly prideful ones.
