Technic Coliseum just finished its final tournament. Again, I’d like to extend my thanks to everyone who participated! When I first came up with the idea back in 2010, I never imagined I’d still be putting so much effort into it years later. It’s sad to see the Coliseum go, but worry not: Technic Warzone is on its way! To celebrate the success of Coliseum and get you excited for Warzone, I decided to type up a little something to put a bit of story into this thing (though not too much, since we aren’t in the RPG Forum ).

    ***

A lone Pahrak was working on the edge of the street, making some sort of sign. He sat in front of a large, arena-like tower built in the style of Metru-Nui’s Coliseum, which took up an entire block on its own. How rich do you have to be to afford something like that?

Anyway, Pahrak finished his work, stood up, and attached the sign to the tower’s doors. It read: “TECHNIC COLISEUM CLOSED FOR RENOVATION.” It was written in Matoran, obviously, but we have translated it for your convenience. We’re so helpful, aren’t we?

“Okay, everyone’s cleared out and the building is locked down,” Pahrak said to himself. “Now I just need to call the family in so we can get to work! Ah, this brings back memories of the last renovation, though hopefully this one won’t take nearly as long…”

Pahrak pulled out a flip phone and—really? A flip phone? It’s 2014, why don’t you have an iPhone or something, you loser? We know you’re not short on cash if you can run this giant interdimensional fighting league. Whatever.

But before he could make the call, he heard a noise. Turning around, he saw a giant blue frog with a tongue so long it was wrapped around its head like a scarf...it’s a lot cooler than it sounds.

“Are you Pahrak #0579, zam?” the frog asked.

    “Uh…yes?”

“I am Greninja #0579. No relation, zam. I have come to this world because I have something urgent to tell you, zam!”

“Okay but cut it out with the ‘zam’. I seriously doubt anyone’s going to get that reference, and it’s really unnecessary.”

“Fine. I come from a parallel world, one where a terrible fate has befallen the Technic Coliseum. After you completed these renovations, dark forces seized control and orchestrated a multi-world war that quickly descended into total anarchy.”

Pahrak nodded. “Mm-hm. Question: were these dark anarchy forces carrying around a shell-shaped fossil?”

“…Possibly. That’s not the point. Everyone got their hands on death rays and turned on each other—it became an every set for themselves bloodbath, with no survivors. Then someone went and started retconning things, and now everyone’s back to life.”

“Ah yes, the retcon. I’m well familiar with it.”

“My world is now trapped in a never ending cycle of death ray wars and spontaneous revivals. You were corrupted by the anarchy and started placing bets on who would live and who would die.”

    “Wow, I became a real—“

“I’m gonna cut you off there. Look: I came to this world in order to prevent the same thing from happening again. I’ll take care of the dark forces when they arrive, but I wanted to warn you so that you would be alert to any signs.”

    “Okay, thanks for the heads-up.”

Greninja leapt onto a ledge and stared off dramatically. “This world must not become like mine…it must not become a Technic Warzone…”

    “Hah, title drop!”

Ignoring Pahrak’s comment, Greninja disappeared in a puff of smoke. But…will he truly be able to stop the Warzone?!

“It doesn’t matter,” Pahrak said, “there isn’t any canon for this to stick to anyway.”

Oh yeah. Well, Technic Warzone opens June 22nd, everybody! Feel free to join in on the fun!

Anyone remember Technic Coliseum? It's a game I was running until the Forums crashed, and I've been thinking about restarting it.

If you don't feel like clicking the link, here's the basics: you pick a character from Bionicle, Slizer, RoboRiders, or Hero Factory, and sponsor them in a fighting league. Sponsors can strengthen their fighters and arrange matches whenever they want, and occasionally there'll be a massive tournament open to all fighters.

There will be changes, of course; for starters, I want to limit the roster to just 32 characters: the Toa Mata, the nine Hero Factory heroes released in set form, the seven RoboRiders, and the original eight Slizers plus Millennia and Spark. Should stop it from getting out of control, I think.

Also, all 32 fighters will be entered in a tournament even if they don't have sponsors (unsponsored fighters will just fight amongst themselves). The first time around there were some instances where we'd have an uneven number of fighters in a tournament and somebody wouldn't get an opponent, giving them an easy win. Of course, if we still have an uneven number of sponsored fighters, this could still be a probelm...
In addition, the time for each round is being cut from a week to 24 hours. Some tournaments would just drag on, and on, and on...

I reduced the price of the upgrade that gives Toa-level powers to non-Toa, and I'm thinking of adding in items from later years of each theme as a substitute for adding new fighters. The Toa and Heroes will be upgradable, but at the start the only upgrades will be Toa Nuva and Hero 2.0, which I'm wondering if I should reduce the benefits of.

But maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Would anyone be interested in a new Technic Coliseum, or should I just leave it in the Archives and let it be?

    [
A primer on the world of Olkir]

The sea undulated slowly, lightly tossing the eight ships that sat anchored in a wide circle. None of the vessels took any action, all simply holding position and waiting, occasionally glancing at one or the other—usually at the ship flying the flag that bore a large yellow sun emblem against a black background.

It happened in an instant. Where there was once empty sky and water, suddenly there was a great stone structure, a grey monolith that towered high above them all. A massive pendulum swung out of one side, before disappearing back into the massive form to emerge from the other side shortly thereafter.

Slowly, the eight ships all moved in. The docks around the island looked weathered, but they uttered not a single creak as dozens of footsteps pounded down their length towards the eight doorways along the structure’s perimeter. Inside, there was only a single chamber, but a river that glowed a vibrant shade of blue sectioned off a sizable area around each entrance, keeping everyone just out of reach of the tiny pedestal at the room’s center.

One villager stepped up to the river’s bank. His metal skin was a simple shade of silver, and like most of those he came with, smooth plates of white armor were adhered to his torso and limbs. A bridge of stone rose before him. Once he was across and took his place on the pedestal, the bridge sank back into the river from whence it came; he looked up, up towards the circular skylight at the temple’s apex, and waited. It was not long before he could see something descending: a mask, just the right size to fit over his face, made of gold with an orange tint to it. As it came closer, more details could be made out—the rounded gap in the forehead, the holes in the rigid fins that came off of the cheeks, the long, vaguely beard-like protrusion that extended from the mouth—and eventually, it came right into his hands and stopped.

The villager breathed deeply. Surveying those assembled, he declared, “I, Jaa of the Ice Tribe, have been chosen by destiny as the Priest of Time. We beseech thee, O Great Krakua: through the power of the Mask of Vakama, share you wisdom with us mortals, so that we might guide Olkir to a brighter future!”

Jaa placed the mask over his face and closed his eyes. Mentally, he magnetically fixed the relic in place, and then held his arms wide, turned skyward once more, and opened his eyes. Brilliant gold light shot from the mask up through the skylight. The pillar stood for nearly a minute before fading away, and when it did, something else hovered above Jaa in its place.

The new being was twice as tall as any villager, covered from head to toe in obsidian-colored armor decorated with iron gray ornaments. His eyes glowed with the same azure luminescence as the river beneath him, and as he floated there, he crossed his arms and took one sweeping look over all those assembled.

“Eight tribes still,” Krakua mused. “Then perhaps time still branches for you.”

He seemed to think for a moment, and then shook his head.

“But evil’s grip on your destiny will not be easy to shake, ye mortals. My eyes still burn from the light of the eternal eclipse. The Element of Sun is turned against the world, and the sea runs red with the blood of thousands, as the sky hurls its enemies into the primal abyss to drown in its abominable waters. The sky, frozen forever, and mortals washing away all hope with the tears they shed in despair over the immortal twilight. Those few who live know only anguish. Those who die know it all the more, for the Riders have all been struck down, never again to carry those poor souls to the City of Legends. The Slizers themselves wash their hands, and leave Olkir to suffer its endless gloom. Yes…the day draws very near now.”

Someone stepped forward. “Great Krakua, if I may,” they said. “We of the Sun Tribe have no wish to inflict such terrible harm upon the world! Please, if there is anything that can be done to prevent this awful tragedy, tell us, and we shall see it done at once!”

Krakua watched him for a moment, but then turned away. “The light burns many futures, Coronet. I can tell you only of the fate you most likely head towards. If you wish to avoid it, then that responsibility belongs to mortals alone.”

“Please,” the Sun Coronet begged, falling to their knees. “Please, just tell us something! Anything that might help us find a different future!”

Krakua looked up to the skylight. He remained silent for quite some time, before he eventually locked his eyes on the Sun Coronet. “I see one tiny spark. Insignificant, perhaps, and certainly unlikely, but…were it to strike the earth at precisely the right moment, it could ignite an entirely new path for all of Olkir. That is all I will tell you.”

He turned next to Jaa, and reached one hand in his direction. A mirror appeared in his open palm and floated down into Jaa’s grasp—the Priest gazed into its surface, and when he nodded, it crumbled to dust around his fingers.

“The Day of Foresight thus ends,” Krakua said, rising higher towards the temple ceiling as he spoke. “If Olkir lasts the decade, I will see you again.”

And with that, he was gone.

So I don’t know if you noticed when you started reading The Distortion Anthology, but I’m one of the lucky few writing for it! My turn has come around, though we’ll have to see if I can serve as a decent follow-up to what Lucina and fishers have already provided you with, eheheh…

Reflection Part 1 is up now, with Part 2 scheduled for around this time next week. This story takes place about two years before Isolation in case you’re wondering about timeline placement. I only ended up using a handful of characters, but hopefully I did a good job with the ones that did get involved. And, yes, using the Technic Coliseum in it is part shameless self-promotion, but since it was actually mentioned in passing during Extermination I can also say that I’m expanding upon a minor plot point!

I don’t want to say too much about it here, but I hope you’ll enjoy Reflection!

What? This is my 50th blog entry? Well woo-hoo.
Actually, I do have some semi-interesting stuff to post about.

First of all, I can't believe I forgot to wish everyone a Happy Easter last week!!
Related to forgetfulness, BIONICLE: The Forgotten Bond is officially over. I was considering turning it into a trilogy, but since so few people like it, I'm probably just going to drop it.
Oh, and while The Legend of Korra already has two episodes online, the first two episodes air on TV tomorrow at...10 AM, I think? I'll be more excited next week when they air an episode I haven't seen yet.
And for those of you interested in Pokemon, we FINALLY have info on Black and White 2!! It took them long enough...I have things to say about this, but I think they deserve their own blog entry. Might do a special entry tomorrow.
Tying into that--I think I'm going to go ahead and make the Kyurem Spirit. I can always edit it later...oh, and I was able to complete the Spirits of the summer Hero Factory sets! Due to this, I think I'm going to start on HERO Model 2012...yes, I know it's early, but if the hour-long special is all the story we're getting for this year, why not?
HOWEVER, I don't think I'll have time to put all these Spirits online for a while. It's final project season, so I'll be busy until, oh...the second week of May.
And don't forget: I'm planning to post Kako next Thursday and Friday!! Since I've only typed up to Chapter 4, I think I'm going to try posting one chapter every Friday for now...that should get us up to finals week, and after that I can probably get more typing done. Although I will need to spend time finalizing VRHS for its June release...

Speaking of VRHS, I have updates! First, I finally thought up specific restrictions for those 'special' Spirits:
Exo-Kohrak Kal Abomination, Undead Cicada, Nikila will be treated as 180 FE Spirits, meaning you can't Track them until you're Level 5.
Trynahk will be treated as a 200 FE Spirit.
Exo-Barraki, Seeker of Darkness, Obscura: Angelic Paladin, Freeshooter, Silent Hero, Fading Memory, Luna Diviner, Graceful Assassin, Destined Key, Savage Thunderbolt, Shadow Toa Kopaka, and Locutus cannot be used alongside other Spirits or have their effect activated until you are Level 7.

Also, I came up with some preliminary rosters for the Element-Lords in VRHS, and I wanted to run them by you guys. I should first note that since VR players can fight Fire, Stone, and Earth in any order, and HS can fight Ice, Air, and Water in any order, their rosters are somewhat variable. When dealing with these Element-Lords, whoever you fight first will only use the first Spirit in the roster below; if you fight them second, they'll use the first two; and if you fight them third, they'll use all three. Otherwise, order is not important. Numbers included in case you want to look them up in the Spirit Index.
Fire: #1. Tahu, #1390. Splitface, #1320. Sir Adric
    Stone: #3. Pohatu, #1169. Evo 2.0, #1445. Tyranitar
Earth: #5. Onua, #1453. Toa Onepu, #1443. Garchomp
Ice: #7. Kopaka, #28. Toa Nuju, #1298. Nepol
    Air: #9. Lewa, #1388. Thornraxx, #178. Zaktan
    Water: #11. Gali, #942. Vapor, #860. Blastoise
Jungle: #840. Venusar, #760. Gresh, #799. Vastus, #1458. Petrified Forest, #1268. Frost Lion
Light: HERO Model 2012 (unfinished), #1280. Son Goku, #1243. Melding Teridax, #923. Water Apprentice, #953. RoboRider Nui
Shadow: #1240. Heartless Composer, #1387. Black Phantom, #1270. Toa Akhmou, #648. Makuta Miserix, #618. Mu Warrior
    Psionics*: #1441. Shiki, #485. Suletu, #955. Orde, #710. Noise Fox, #1311. Danju
Steel: #1401. Mountain Warrior, #956. Zaria, #1325. Lunar Convoy, #1377. Frenzied Swordsman, #1379. Omega
    Thunder: #1385. Surge 4.0, #1442. Thunder Lion, #954. Chiara, #1214. Fleeting Flash, #1278. Zekrom
Rahaga: Stringer 4.0 (not on the list yet), #378. Zodiakai, #1001. Ikhav Warrior, #742. Chronicler 08, #229. Jovan, #1253. Perfect Program, #1302. Avatar Roku
Dragon: #500. Ryurei, #1378. Shinryu, #1460. Singing Dragon (with a 180 FE host Spirit), #744. Crimson Dragon, #240. Kardas Dragon, Kyurem (unfinished), #682. Lance Dragon

*Because of how Shiki works, I'm not sure if I should just have the Psionics-Lord summon the other Spirits in her roster, or give her several other Spirits to use for this purpose. Any preferences?
On a side note...I was thinking that the Dragon-Lord may just start with Crimson Dragon and keep using Noise Change on each of her Spirits until they were all transformed into Parasite types. Of course, that could be unfair...any thoughts on that?

Oh, and in case anyone's wondering about the Petrified Forest Spirit, I didn't like the Hero Factory combiners this year and decided to make my own. ZMoC-15 Petrified Forest is a combination of Evo 4.0 and Rocka 4.0. He has a crossbow, a plasma shooter, a tank arm, toxic resistant armor, Hex Shield technology, and projectile Hero Cuffs that can extend from his arm, lock onto the target, and pull them in so Forest can kick, punch, or throw them.

I think that about covers it. I probably will make that Pokemon Black and White 2 post tomorrow...
  6. Pahrak Model ZX
After another trip through the Void, I ended up in the Dragon Ball Z universe, and the changes I made to my program in my previous world made me a Saiyan warrior in this one. I quickly ascended to the level of Super Saiyan, and am now SSJ Pahrak!
(In other words, I've finally become obsessed with DBZ. It was bound to happen.)

But on to important stuff! I finally started BIONICLE: The Forgotten Bond! New chapters will be posted every Tuesday and Thursday, God willing, and if something does come up I'll make an announcement.

Also, I posted two ZMoC topics this week. Tying into my DBZ obsession, I made a MoC of Perfect Cell, and I also finally got around to making a Vapor 3.0. I still want to perfect my Vapor upgrades, so any comments or criticism on Vapor 3.0 would be GREATLY appreciated!

Both Bioni-Lords websites have been updated, with Elemental Rarity on Exo's Desk, as promised. The Spirit Index isn't entirely done yet, but I expect to get the last few Spirits and Navigation updates done today or tomorrow.

I've also been thinking of some new story ideas...once I perfect Vapor, I was thinking of writing a short story with him making a hit. No real reason, just want to show Vapor being an assassin. The other idea involves Hapori, but in a slightly different way than I've used them in the past. In this story there would be about eleven Hapori, for reasons to be explained later, and while they're all very powerful they have no purpose to their existence...so they've gotta deal with that.
    Any thoughts on either idea?

And I threw together a draft of a first post for VioletRose and HonoredSoul, but...something seems off, I think. Feel free to take a look at it and give some suggestions, please.

BIONI-LORDS VIOLETROSE VERSION and BIONI-LORD HONOREDSOUL VERSION

Originally there were two worlds: a world of humans and a world of Bionicles, but things have changed since then. The two worlds were mixed together, and while they were separated again, both worlds were changed beyond recognition: humans and Bionicles existed side by side, but Bionicles were reduced to Bioni-Spirits: animalistic versions of what they once were, multiplied into species, and some that looked like they were from a foreign universe. What’s more, when a Bioni-Spirit takes enough damage, it transforms into a glass orb filled with a spark of energy, and a human can then use that Orb to fuse with the Bioni-Spirit, creating a new entity…the Bioni-Lord.

In this game, you will control a Bioni-Lord in one of these two worlds, and send him or her on a quest to become a legendary warrior. Below is the character form:

    Name:
    Gender:
    Appearance:
    Age:
    Starting Orb: (see below)
    Version: VioletRose or HonoredSoul

The Orbs you can choose to start with differ depending on which Version you are playing. VioletRose players can start with #3. Pohatu, #857. Onyx, or #927. William Furno. HonoredSoul players can start with #9. Lewa, #842. Scuba, or #930. Preston Stormer. For details on these Spirits, see the Spirit Index.

Of course, not all Spirits can be obtained—some are only found in one Version and not the other, and some cannot be found no matter how hard you look. Version Exclusives can be found here, unobtainable Spirits can be found here. Players playing the same Version can interact with each other freely, and there is a way to get the Spirits of the other Version!

    Olmak Breach:
There is a hole in the dimensional fabric between the two worlds, and this hole can be accessed by a facility found in all towns called the Olmak Breach. When you visit the Olmak Breach, you leave behind a “ghost” in the space between dimensions, and this ghost can interact with ghosts of players of the other Version. Ghosts can battle to earn Widgets (money) and trade Spirits, and the rewards of these activities can be retrieved by visiting any Olmak Breach facility.

The world is composed of a number of cities, each of which is tied to a specific Element (or Elements) (see below), and venturing just outside the city walls you will find areas where you can find, battle, and obtain wild Bioni-Spirits. Each town has an Olmak Breach, an Orb Shop where you can buy new Spirits, a Healing Shop where you can buy healing items for use in battle (see below), a Training Field where you can fight players of the same Version or NPC opponents, and a Battlefield (see below).

Spirits and attacks have Elements interwoven into their beings. The Elements are Fire, Stone, Earth, Ice, Air, Water, Jungle, Light, Shadow, Rahaga, Steel, Thunder, Dragon, and Psionics. Each Element has two weaknesses and two resistances—if a Spirit is Fire Element and hit by a Water attack, it will take double damage from that attack, while a Water Spirit will take half damage from a Fire attack. Also, if a Fire/Ice Spirit is hit by a Water attack, it will take triple damage, while a Water/Fire Spirit will take one-third damage from an Ice attack. Elements, with their weaknesses and resistances, can be found here.

Spirits automatically heal after each battle, but there are a few items you can buy to use during battle:
    Elixir-heals 30 FE
    Megalixir-heals 60 FE
    Hyperlixir-heals 120 FE
    Frost Vapor-heals burn
    System Shock-heals paralysis
    Magma Burst-heals freeze
    Realization-heals confusion
    Liquid Sun-heal blindness
    Nightmare-heal sleep
    Harmonica-heal silence
    Immune Booster-heal poison

Battles in this game are simple. You choose a Bioni-Spirit to fuse with, and your opponent will do the same (unless it is a wild Bioni-Spirit). You will both take turns using an attack, and I will roll a 6-sided die to determine if it is successful or not; 1-3 is successful, 4-6 is unsuccessful (unless accuracy modifiers are involved). Usually, you can only use one Spirit in battle, and when its Fusion Energy (FE, or health) count is depleted, you lose. This is where the Battlefields come in.

Battlefields are in every city you will visit. Inside a Battlefield, you will fight an Element-Lord, a powerful Bioni-Lord who specializes in the Element associated with the city. If you can defeat the Element-Lord, you will win Widgets and an Elemental Code for your Spirit Booster. A Spirit Booster is a device that can store Bioni-Spirits as data (a more convenient method than carrying around all the Orbs), and can be programmed with Elemental Codes to unlock new abilities in Spirits and allow you to use multiple Spirits in one battle. Not all Elemental Codes are available in each Version, however.
To illustrate: possessing the Fire Code allows you to use as many Fire Spirits in one battle as you want, and if those Spirits have an Effect, it will activate. If a Spirit is part Fire and part Thunder, or some other Element also available in the same Version as Fire, then you must obtain the Code for that Element as well before you can activate the Spirit’s Effect or use it along with other Spirits in one battle. If, on the other hand, the Spirit is part Fire and part Ice, or some other Element not available in the same Version, it can be used along with other Spirits in one battle and its effect will activate.

You begin in a city tied to three Elements, and thus has three Element-Lords—you will need to fight each one before you can move on. Once you beat all three, you receive a Spirit Tracker (see below) and are able to visit three more cities, each tied to one Element, in any order. After doing that, you have to return to the starting city, receive a secret artifact, and head on to the final city, and once you defeat the Element-Lord there you will receive a unique Bioni-Spirit. After that…you’ll see…

    For VioletRose:
Starting city is tied to Fire, Stone, and Earth.
Secondary cities are tied to Jungle, Shadow, and Thunder.
    Final city tied to Rahaga.
Receive Wildflower once all Element-Lords defeated.

    For HonoredSoul:
Starting city is tied to Ice, Air, and Water.
Secondary cities are tied to Psionics, Light, and Steel.
Final city is tied to Dragon.
Receive Elder Toa once all Element-Lords defeated.

    Spirit Tracker:
With this device, you can search for a specific Bioni-Spirit, so long as its Element is the same as the city you are nearby. Once you use the Spirit Tracker, you must fight another battle (the battle with the Spirit you are tracking does not count) to reboot the Tracker before you can use it again. The initial charge can track any Spirit with 140 or less maximum Fusion Energy, but the charge can be increased with more battles. Fighting a second battle will boost the charge to track Spirits with up to 160 maximum FE; a third will allow you to track Spirits with up to 180 FE; and a fourth battle will allow you to track Spirits with 200 maximum FE.

As always, follow BZPower rules! I think that about wraps it up…

I really enjoyed seeing the response to The Legend Continues. It was like this big outpouring of love for Generation 2, and since it seems like a lot of talk about G2 (ever since it started) is very negative, it was a delightful change of pace. Just fans taking the ideas Lego has given us and playing with them, and complimenting each other on their ideas and effort. It was great.

So that sparked the idea behind Toa of Fire. It’s not long at all, clocking in at around 1400 words, and the setup is intentionally a little odd. But hopefully I was able to get my point across.

G2 certainly has its faults—I won’t deny that. But it is Bionicle. And it is loved.

    June…doesn’t really mean anything special.

Except now it does, because it means you can get Manaphy over Mystery Gift! This is far less convoluted than that egg nonsense from when it was first made available!

Also, when you get your Manaphy, be sure to leave it at the day care with Ditto—that’s the only way you can get the not-exactly-Legendary Pokémon Phione!

    721 HERE WE COME!
  9. Pahrak Model ZX
You might remember The Blade of Valor, a short story I wrote a while back testing out an idea about a world where humans and Bionicle characters co-existed. I’ll admit it didn’t get the response I was hoping for, but I just ended up liking the idea too much. So, now I’m working on turning it into a full-length fanfiction.

However, while the Sword of Akamai and its bearer will be in the story (though all names are tentative), I will also be including a second protagonist to carry the Shield of Wairuha, so “The Blade of Valor” probably wouldn’t work as well as a title any more. For now, the working title for this story will be “The Kaita Legacy”.

Bionicle characters in this world take the role of spirits, and the humans follow and look up to them as protectors. When a new threat arises to put the world in jeopardy, a priestess is given the power of three of the Great Spirits of the Elements and tasked with saving the world.

Now, work schedule. I can’t really come up with a proper schedule, with school, work, and the other projects I want to work on, so I can’t guarantee when this story will be done. I’d like to finish it before posting it so that I can go over the whole thing and make edits, but I also like to have people look at my work as I go along. What I’m thinking is that I will post the chapters to Tumblr as I finish them, so whoever’s got an account over there can keep up with it. When I finish the story and make my edits, I will post the improved version here on BZP over the span of a few weeks.

I don’t plan on it being a very long piece, though each chapter might seem rather lengthy on its own. Chapter 1 is currently about 14 pages long in Word, and I’m currently planning on eight chapters. I guess it’s like a special mini-series or something.

The first chapter is on Tumblr now if you want to read it, but I won’t make a post here every time I finish a chapter. I’ll try to finish this in the near-ish future, which should get easier as the ball gets rolling, though with all the distractions I’d say expect the BZP version sometime in 2015 (hopefully early 2015). For now, I’ll leave you with this tiny snippet to try to draw you in!

    ***

The creatures had reached the entryway. A few stepped into the temple while a few remained in the tunnel, and then they abruptly came to a halt. After a few seconds of eerie silence, they all spoke…all in unison.

    “We are Rahkshi.”

Dozens of coarse voices spoke the same words, all with the same timing, the same inflection. The experience was too unsettling for Tahra to put into words.

“We claim this temple in the name of Nothingness. Tahu shall fall. Fire shall be gone from this world, but that shall be only the beginning. All will end. All will become Nothing. Those who stand in our way will be the first to embrace Nothing.”

“Nothing,” Vakahu said under his breath. “Do they mean to destroy us?”

“…No,” Tahra said. She took a step forward. “This is not Destruction. Destruction is a part of balance, but these creatures seek to do away with balance. They do not come in the name of Makuta. They come in the name of Nothing.”

She held the sword out and looked at it once more. “My name is Tahra. I am a Priestess of Tahu…and it is my Duty to protect this temple!”

Gripping the hilt with both hands, she pointed the sword upward and thrust. Mustering all her strength, she screamed, “Spirits of Valor, I Will You to Blaze!”

At her words, a golden aura burst out from the blade, forming a dome around Tahra. Plates of metal appeared out of thin air along the edge of the aura, orbiting around her for a moment, and then, one by one, they all flew onto her body. Gold armor placed itself on her forearms, chest, knees, and the front of her feet, while her heels, legs, and torso became adorned by red armor. Last was a curved plate made to resemble Tahu’s mask, which attached firmly to Tahra’s left shoulder. Power unimaginable rushed into her, but she paused, took a deep breath, and steadied herself.

The aura faded away and Tahra looked at the Rahkshi. They showed no reaction whatsoever.

“We come in the name of Nothing,” the Rahkshi repeated, still speaking all in unison. “If you stand in our way, you shall be the first to embrace Nothing.”

“You have defiled this temple!” Tahra said. “That alone is unforgivable, and I expect your sins go well beyond even that! The Great Spirits have granted me their Power…so, in their stead, I will condemn your blasphemy myself!”

-As mentioned previously, the Inika Charge has been dropped and the Hordika Venom has been edited. I also said more Kanohi will be made available in Nuva! Specifically, we’ll be making the Suletu, Kadin, Mask of Emulation, and Crast upgrade-friendly. The Calix and Felnas are going to stay the way they are, for now at least.

-Also, I decided to go with Canis’s idea for making Rahkshi Staffs compatible with Antidermis Infusion. In addition to buying the staff, you will need to pay 3,000 W to make it Infusion-compatible, which will change its designation in your inventory to “Staff of ___-C”.

-One last upgrade: the Shadow Leech Partial Drain! It may cost 30,000 W, but with this upgrade your fighter will gain Shadow powers in addition to their current Element! It wears off after 10 battles, though, and there are some restrictions involving this and the Elemental Rahkshi Staffs.

-Wraith suggested an item to let the Glatorian fly, so here it is: the Imported Jetpack! 7,000 W, as you would expect.

-Credit to Canis, the Nui Stone will be available for any fighter to purchase! When used by a non-upgraded fighter fighting an upgraded fighter, it targets the stats they have an edge in and splits the difference like a Suletu! Not super sure about the price, but right now I’m thinking 20,000 W.

-Another awesome but impractical item: the Golden Kanohi! If you can shell out 80,000 W and obey the restrictions, you can use this item to have access to the powers of every Kanohi you own at once! And yes, it breaks after one use. Not planning to make this one available in Nuva.

-You’ve been asking for it, so here it is: the Adaptive Armor! But this isn’t an upgrade—no, this is an item that any fighter can buy! This armor will cost 30,000 W, and protects the wearer from any and all stat reductions, plus effects such as blindness, illusions, poison, and whatnot.

-Last but not least, the Golden Armor, also available for any fighter to buy! This one costs 10,000 W, and when brought into battle it prevents any and all Rahkshi Staffs from being used in the match. Great for going up against an opponent who loves their Rahkshi Staffs! It cannot, however, be used to cancel out the Staff power being used by a fighter with an Antidermis Infusion.

Well, that’s everything I had planned. Feel free to keep submitting item ideas, though!

I recently found out that the site I'm getting this news from has Forums, so I'll summarize it for you...and also give some of my thoughts. This is all from the latest issue of CoroCoro:

-First of, returning characters. It's confirmed that Alder is back; no specifics, but I would assume he's still the Champion. Bianca is back as Professor Juniper's assistant, and apparently she's the one who gives you your starter. Cheren is back...as the new Normal-type Gym Leader...apparently the first Gym Leader you face. (This is a serious demotion...)
-Also, it looks like Team Plasma is back, but they still don't know where N is. Could lead to some interesting story developments...
-Apparently there's going to be something called the Pokemon World Tournament, which has "every Gym Leader and Champion from every region" fighting each other. I'm going to assume that the player can enter this, which causes my mind to be blown. You get to fight ALL of them?! The only way that could POSSIBLY be better would be if they included Red and the other past player characters!!
-It looks like Black and White 2 will be introducing a Pokemon version of Hollywood. Apparently it will literally be called "Pokewood." What the heck. Did we really need this? At all?
-Apparently the magazine discusses the Pokemon AR searcher, which will be a new 3DS app that can be used with Black and White 2 to catch new Pokemon. (Black and White 2 are DS games, but if you choose to play them on the 3DS, they can connect to the AR app.) Apparently this app involves a "Professor Burnet". I guess this is the new Pokewalker/Dream World thing. Might be cool.
-Also, the Kami trio have new formes! Their original forms are referred to as "Kenshin Formes," and the new formes are referred to as "Reijuu Formes." From what I can see of these new formes so far, the Kami are freed from their clouds and take on more animal-like appearances. Landorus is cat-like, Tornadus is bird-like, and Thundurus is dragon-like. I hope that they will either be easier to catch, or you can trade over your old Kami and then transform them, because it took WAY too long to catch Thundurus, and I still haven't gotten the others...
-There's some mention of the Japanese Keldeo and Meloetta distributions. The Meloetta will be level 15, holding a PP Max, and knowing Round, Quick Attack, and Confusion. Dearly hoping Keldeo gets distributed in America around when Black and White 2 are released...I need a good Water type...
-There's also some news dealing with the Pokemon anime and TCG, but I stopped caring about those long ago. Sorry, but if you want to read up on this info, you'll have to find it somewhere else.

Have I mentioned that Steven Universe: Attack the Light is a great game? Because it is.

I went back to it to try shooting for 100% completion, and I'm very nearly there. The Gems' levels are all maxed (though I didn't maximize all their abilities, turns out those upgrades are missable and that's a bit of a flaw), Steven's level is almost there (I think he just needs two more levels, but he levels really slowly and I think his only remaining bonuses are upgrades to Escape, which I don't use or need at this point). I also found all the badges! I have 100% on four of the five worlds, but I've encountered a problem with World 3.

See, each World has two secret levels that you access by using rare Gemstones to unlock doors in the normal levels, and to unlock the last secret level in World 3, I need a Red Gemstone. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any more Red Gemstones. I haven't been able to find a good online resource for this game so I've been going back through the levels and checking the shops scattered around, but unless I missed a shop (I don't think the secret levels have shops so I didn't check), Worlds 3, 4, and 5 are fresh out of Red Gemstones, and I remember a character very clearly saying we won't find them in World 1.

I'll have to investigate World 2 next, and then maybe double check World 1 and the secret levels, but I'm starting to worry this level might be missable. I don't suppose anyone plays the game and has any idea where I could find the Gemstone I need?

Also since I haven't been able to say this anywhere else, I love the final boss of this game so much, I think it might honestly be my favorite final boss of any game I've played and I really hope it somehow turns up in the show (though it probably won't).

EDIT: Okay I found it, there's a shop in a secret room in World 2 that had that last Red Gemstone, bought it and cleaned out the last zone. 100% completion ranking on all 5 Worlds!

Whaddaya know, we’re already getting our first Gen VII Mythical! Magearna is available starting today!

So, to get this you need to have beaten the main story of Sun/Moon to unlock the QR Scanner. Go to Pokémon.com to find the QR code, scan it, and then follow the instructions to find an NPC who will give you Magearna!

So that’s 1 of 2 Mythicals already available not even a month after Sun/Moon’s release. That’s…slightly concerning in a way…

As usual, another preview: Bioni-Lords Book 3: Kako Preview 3 is up, showing the King of Pahrak meeting the King of Gahlok. It also mentions the concept of Va Champions, which are basically the same as Frere Allies or Guardian Allies...just wanted to stop using "Allies". The Preview also contains a link to an image of the King Bohrok emblem and a link to a picture of the Exo-Pahrak Kal Titan MoC, if you haven't seen it yet.

Speaking of MoCs, I threw up a new ZMoC topic, this one with some more Hero Factory MoCs. I want to do one more next week, but then we'll be caught up with the ZMoC Project (more or less...)

Okay, I won't keep you waiting any longer: behold, the new Spirit Index! And, uh...yeah, that's it. I've started on the Hero Factory 4.0 Spirits, and they're practically done--I just want to wait until we get more info so I can give one more move to Furno.

Also, I've finally started to do more typing on Forgotten Bond! Also working on modified banners, which I'll probably put in the review topic. I've already said to expect it in January, so I won't say it again.

And my Christmas Special is typed and ready. I'll probably post it the 23rd and put a link here along with the new Kako Preview.

    I think that covers it!
  15. Pahrak Model ZX
(I got it done sooner than expected and got really excited and didn’t want to wait so here we go)

When 2015 began, there was a lot of criticism of Generation 2 saying that it did not have as much apparent depth as Generation 1. (Then again, there’s probably still a lot of that now.) While that’s not exactly a fair comparison, this got me thinking about how I could expand upon the story presented thus far, the world of Okoto, and the characters we were just getting to know, particularly Makuta. A popular theory is that G2 Makuta is not truly evil, perhaps in part to further differentiate him from G1 Teridax; I liked this idea, so I took it and ran with it. The result was The Time of the Mask Makers, which received a fair amount of interest and generally positive feedback, and I would say it is the most successful story I’ve posted on BZPower. Needless to say, I was elated, so I decided I wanted to hang on to this vision of Okoto.

And so, I am proud to present my new epic, In Our Bones. As the previous story sought to explore the backstory of Ekimu and Makuta, this story is meant to look into the past of the Skull villains and the Ancient City, as well as provide a little more background for the Lord of Skull Spiders after his cameo in Mask Makers and begin tying points together to lay groundwork for a potential myth arc. While these two stories are connected, I did my best to write Bones so that it can be read without having read Mask Makers, so please don’t feel as if you need to read one to read the other! (Of course, I’d be honored if you did read them both, but I don’t want you to feel pressured. ) The story is completely written, so I can say with sureness that the chapters will be released every Wednesday until it reaches the climax on 7/1. (Barring any unforeseen events or complications, that is.) I hope you will take a look at it and let me know what you think!

In the future, I do hope to keep writing more stories connected to these two. Ideally I want to write at least one story per wave of G2 sets for the line’s duration, but we’ll have to see if that works out. Right now I am definitely committed to a short story (or it might become a two or three parter) tying Mask Makers and Bones together and summarizing/closing up the 2015 story, but I don’t plan to do a whole lot on that until I finish serializing Bones so that I can better utilize any feedback I may get in that time. And, since I have a compulsive need to come up with names for things like this, I am currently referring to this series of connected G2 stories as “Okoto 579”, or just “O579” for short. The reason is probably obvious. I’ll be tagging the stories with “O579”, and I will also give them an icon in my library and (after posting the third story) make a blog post collecting them to link in the My Writing block.

I believe that is everything! I’ll make new blog posts each week advertising the new chapter, so check back if you want to keep up with the tale of the Ancient City!

This post will serve as reference for all the stories written for the Okoto 579 (or O579) series, a set of connected fanfics that all take place on one alternate version of Okoto. Each entry will provide a link to the story (and its review topic where applicable), which wave of sets/season of the story prompted it, and a brief summary of the concept.

-The Time of the Mask Makers: (Review, Winter 15) Long, long ago in the Region of Earth, there lived two brothers: Ekimu and Makuta. No one knew how these two and their creations would come to shape Okoto’s destiny.

-In Our Bones: (Review, Summer 15) Many millennia before the arrival of the Toa, there existed on Okoto a prosperous City, filled with a race gifted with mystic abilities who sought to wipe out the villagers. They may very well have succeeded, but in the end, time chose another path for them.

-The Failure’s Claim: (Summer 15) The Masters have been repelled from the Ancient City, unable to retrieve the Mask of Creation from the Skull Grinder’s clutches. They have, however, stolen a device they believe will awaken Ekimu, and now all hope rests on the revived Mask Maker being enough to turn the tide against the undead inventor.

-Strike of the Hour: (15/16 Transition) Ekimu’s journey across Okoto has taken him to the Region of Ice, where a fellow blacksmith offers him shelter. The smith has a secret, however, and Ekimu may come to realize that a very shocking change is coming.

Well, it’s February. You know what that means!

But for the sake of having a long blog post I’m going to pretend you don’t.

It means that if you go to GameStop you can get a Mew. I believe this one is a serial code distribution, so you’ll need to ask at the counter.

Also someone should set the serial code card under a truck and take a picture, it would be funny. Just remember to pick it up afterwards, littering is bad.

    Now go get Mew.

    721 HERE WE COME!
  18. Pahrak Model ZX
August isn’t a fun month, is it? Usually means back to school, if you’re in school.

But this August, you can get your very own Arceus just by going to GameStop! That’s right, just stop by your local game store, ask the employee at the counter for a neat little card with a serial number, and you get the Pokémon who created the Pokémon world (or maybe just Sinnoh)!

I won’t lie to you, part of me’s still angry this doesn’t involve the Azure Flute in some way. But you probably guessed that.

The Time of the Mask Makers, The Fourth Swing, is now live!

This chapter serves mainly as transition from the backstory that was the first three chapters towards how things are in the 2015 animations. Also, after a few passing mentions in previous chapters, Makuta actually visits the Temple of Time in this chapter, and something peculiar happens...

    Next week: the climax!

In Our Bones, The Second Break, is now live in Epics!

My idea when outlining the story was that each chapter would focus on a different summer set (Scorpio, Warrior, Basher, Slicer, Grinder/all (since Grinder necessarily needed to be in all of them)). They didn’t all quite work out that way (The First Break ended up focusing on a group kinda…), but The Second Break is still very much the Skull Warrior’s story. It does also give us our first look at the Skull Basher, plus brings back Grinder, Slicer, and LoSS to varying degrees, since I wanted an early look at the ensemble…though, Scorpio ended up getting left out, poor thing.

Well, anyway, I hope you enjoy!
