"What could be better than small pieces of metal flying undetected across a classroom until they make an annoying snapping noise at the far wall?"

Hey there, ! Today's entry is a very special entry. Right now, I am pleased to have a place to finally post the simple instructions of my one truly, incredibly ingenious invention: the Portable Staple Firing Mechanism, or PSFM for short. This is a staple-shooting device whose structure I came up with back in my late grade school days. You may have heard of the highly ineffective mechanical pencil staple shooters that work by shooting a staple out of the mechanism that holds pencil graphite. My invention is something entirely different. My PSFM is simply something that my creative mind conjured during boring classes in school. But its so cool, I just have to share it.

    RECOMMENDED AGES 13+

The materials needed to build your own PSFM are incredibly easy to obtain. It is very simple to put together, and in the end it is a very discreet staple-shooter. Oh, and you'll pretty much never run out of ammo. What could be better than small pieces of metal flying undetected across a classroom until they make an annoying snapping noise at the far wall? (However, every shooter of staples must be responsible in the use of his tool .)

    MATERIALS:

To make your own staple launcher, you must gather the materials shown above. You will need a stapler. A mini-stapler like the one shown above is highly recommended. The stapler must be able to fold out to form a straight angle (this is a common feature in all staplers). Mini-staplers are discreet enough for the job and are sold at most (if not all) office supply stores.
You will need staples. There are different kinds of staples with different properties, believe it or not. You will see which kinds you like best -- the kinds that are soft and that are not adhered together very tightly so they come out of the stapler with little force, or the inverse. Staples are sold at all office supply stores, of course.
You will need dental rubber bands. Not regular rubber bands, but the ones used in braces. In order to obtain these special rubber bands, you can simply ask someone who has braces for a spare bag (that's what I had to do), or use the ones you have yourself if you already have braces. There is a great variety among dental rubber bands, so I'll give you what's printed on the front of my bag of rubber bands, which seem to produce optimal performance in the PSFM launcher:
    AE-36-2 --- 5/16" --- 2 Oz.
    (BROWN) ---- 100 PRE PACK
    --appco
You will need any regular wooden pencil. Easy to obtain. Use one with softer wood, if possible. It will make construction easier. CONSTRUCTION:
Anyone who is reading this probably plays/has played with LEGO Bricks. That building experience will help you in this procedure. It's even better if you presently play with LEGO Bricks. I don't really play with LEGO Bricks at my age, naturally, but I can still get the job done.

If you play with LEGO Bricks, you're most likely used to pinching yourself accidently and developing a kind of caluss while working on a Lego project. Similar thing here, only with staples. Just be careful. I've never had a staple injury, but because the construction of the PSFM involves handling small, wiry metal objects, I feel that I should give a word of caution.

    Okay, the procedure:

Your objective in this step is to shove a staple into the far end of the pencil right next to the metal eraser holder. For the safety of your fingers, do not do this in mid-air but on a table. Hold the pencil in place while you use the stapler to push a staple about halfway into the wood of the pencil.

Darn! Sometimes this happens. Even if it does, you still have the holes in the pencil wood.

Just pop out one of these bad boys...

...push it in with your fingers (at least position it in there, then press it against something to move it in deeper -- it might mess it up again as shown above, though), and you should get this result:

Your job in step two is to stick a rubber band under the staple you just put in the pencil. Carefully yank one end of the staple out of the pencil like this.

Now you can put the rubber band in:

    IMAGE

Push the loose end of the staple back in:

This step completes the launching mechanism itself. Pull the rubber band down the length of the pencil as seen above so that it is fairly taut, determining where you will place the second staple in the pencil. Don't make the band insanely tight. Just use your judgement -- remember, this thing is gonna fire staples.

Use a procedure similar to steps one and two...

    IMAGE

    ...to get this result:

Notice how I somewhat bent the staples inwards so that the rubber band stays apart from the pencil surface. If the rubber band is touching the pencil, it's not gonna work.

    Finished product USE:
Squeeze some staples out of the stapler. You need to pinch the staples in such a way that one end is hooked while the other is folded in.

This allows you to hook them onto the rubber band, pull back, and launch!

    Don't forget to sharpen!

    It's just an innocent-looking pencil...

    COMMENTS:
I'm very proud of this invention. I love the little sound the rubber band makes when you launch off a staple, I love the way you can shoot a staple at an obscure part of the room to make a disturbing noise during class, and I love the way it just looks like an ordinary pencil. Use it responsibly. As LEGO puts it,

    That said,

Just messin' around with a big roll of paper, a camera, my Bionicle sets, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft GIF Animator. It took a few hours yesterday and today to put together. Yes, I am very pleased with the results. Comments greatly appreciated!

EDIT: (I don't like commenting in my own blog -- it's wierd): Yep, GFLK, I'm alive. Don't get many funnel clouds where I live, though.

    BARA MAGNA
    • There are six arenas on Bara Magna, and Atero is the main one.
    • Iconox is ice, Tesara is jungle, and Tajun is water.
    • The disaster involved in the Vorox and Zesk's regression is dealt with in 2009-2010 story.
    • The disaster is also involved with the downgrade of technology on Bara Magna.
    • The Glatorian system did not exist prior to the disaster.
    • Skrall are generally disliked, of course.
    • Nothing happens if someone takes his helmet off. The helmets are referred to as masks, but they do not function as Kanohi.
    • Tarix uses his tube to breathe underwater.
    • Tarix's and Berix's gold-colored weapons were most likely found in ruins near where Tajun is.

    GENERAL

    • Spherus Magna was, indeed, shattered.
    • Mazeka's swamp strider is destroyed.
    • Matoran language is programming language! Making it dissimilar to the language of Bara Magna.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving .

    BARA MAGNA
    • Bara Magna is a lot older than the Matoran universe and is most likely older than the Great Beings.
    • Greg: "The black and green Glatorian […] fight in the first comic -- but reasonably, any two Glatorian can fight in the arena, because it's not about being friends or enemies. It's a job."
    • One can get a pretty good idea whether or not a Thornax is going to explode if one knows when it was harvested or if one has harvested it himself.
    • Dangerous wildlife exists on Bara Magna.
    • There will be both winter and summer 2009 characters in the movie. The movie does not include shots of the Toa Nuva or Takanuva.
    • Thornax stew is mainly eaten by bone hunters. Wildlife would most likely eat it as well, but they can't cook.
    • The Great Beings and the Glatorian have not been in the same area for a long period of time.

    MATORAN UNIVERSE
    • Mata Nui was omnipotent in his universe but was not totally omniscient or psychic.
    • Mata Nui's body is able to monitor its inner workings in case of malfunction.
    • Wherever Mata Nui should have fallen asleep, it was always assumed that Mata Nui would be pulled in to some sort of gravity well, like a planet, so the Toa Mata could then be launched onto his face.
    • Mata Nui has visited many other worlds, but he did not need to come to the endless ocean planet to achieve his mission. Mata Nui was not observing the planet when he fell asleep.
    • There are no other beings of the same scale as Mata Nui.
    • Greg, on the Kini-Nui: "The official word on this is that Kini-Nui was a retractable sensor array, basically, that Mata Nui used to monitor the surrounding environment when he was on a planet. Had he been awakened in the normal way, it would have retracted, but because of the abrupt nature of the awakening, the array was jettisoned instead of being retracted."
    • Bink: "The Kini Nui was an integral part of Mata Nui’s face, built by the Great Beings, but used more as a “probe” than anything. When he fell over, it was extended to rest on the camouflaged layer of dirt and rock above his face. It kept MN’s consciousness informed of surface conditions and provided a safe route for the Matoran and Toa to access his exterior as needed. If the re-start of Mata Nui had been done in proper sequence, the Kini Nui would’ve been retracted back into its slot on MN’s face. But since the Nuva had to jump-start his heart with the Ignika, non-essential systems were bypassed and it was essentially jettisoned – kind of like the escape tower on the Apollo capsules after they’d reached escape velocity."
    • Bink thinks it would make sense for more than one Kini-Nui to be able to be created.
    • If Teridax were to come to the Great Beings' homeworld, they at least would have a chance against him, since they built Mata Nui and know the details of its construction.

    DWELLERS IN DARKNESS
    • Greg, on Teridax speaking to Jaller: "Makuta has always been able to communicate telepathically, he is simply showing greater range here because he is in Mata Nui's body at this point -- the body is just not awake yet. So all he is doing is amplifying his existing power, not using a new one. It certainly has nothing to do with controlling the universe, it's communication, not control." "It isn't shown that he is fully in place at this point, only that he is amplifying powers he already has. He isn't using the powers of the Mata Nui body."
    • All of the Visorak are now dead, and the Heart of the Visorak has also been destroyed.
    • Zaktan probably knows how to attack Mata Nui's body.

    DESTINY WAR
    • Trinuma can fly.
    • Roodaka was sent to the Pit for the reason that she helped lead a Visorak army that slaughtered thousands of people and conquered numerous islands.

    GENERAL

    • Artakha remains hidden because it appears like any other island, so seeing it is not necessarily identifying it.
    • Greg thinks it's logical to assume that Artakha made the two Olmak.
    • Once out of Karda Nui, the Toa Nuva (except for Tahu Nuva) gained access to all their other Kanohi Nuva again.
    • Keetongu would be unable to cure Savage.
    • Krika figured that Teridax would betray the rest of the Makuta.

    -Endless Ocean Planet
    • Greg is sure the Great Beings visited the endless ocean planet at some point in the distant past.
    • The endless ocean planet in fact orbits a sun.

    -Matoran Universe Map
    • Greg: "I don't think Ameet worried enormously about making sure every size was just right. They were working off a map I drew, and I am not an artist and wasn't worrying enormously about proportion so much as relative location."
    • Greg, on Voya Nui's size: "I think they wanted it to be prominent on the map, because it is a location kid are familiar with." Greg himself thinks Voya Nui is a little big.
    • Zakaz's island chain is comprised of Xia and Stelt.
    • The Makuta named an island Visorak because it was the place where the Visorak were brought into being.

    -Real Life
    • The name of the new comic artist is Pop Mhan.
    • Greg says that Ameet will be publishing six activity books next year, each one containing a chapter of an all-new, exclusive six-part BIONICLE story written by him.

The mods were on a tyrade last week about how the OGD should be a place for concise discussion and posting dialogues with Greg. Then they disappeared, and now we're in a bad spell of people making totally extraneous posts. What up wit that?

    BARA MAGNA
    • Elemental affiliations in 2009 are based on geography, but tribes are still referred to as the fire tribe, the water tribe, etc.
    • Like any desert, the surface of Bara Magna has oases and other such areas.
    • The six elements mentioned next year are fire, water, ice, sand, rock, and plant/jungle.
    • There is no "Earth" tribe next year; rather, black is Rock and tan is Sand.
    • The rock tribe lives in the mountains, and the sand tribe lives in the desert sands.
    • Greg, on the free-for-all state of Bara Magna: "I wouldn't describe it as that, no. The tribes are united as such, but they do have a very well-defined social structure that governs their relations with each other. So while they are not "working together," they are also not at war with each other."
    • With respect to the Agori and Glatorian -- in one case, the title is a species name; in the other, it is not.
    • The Glatorian are all of the same species.
    • The "Bone hunters" are among the villains, as they are not the only villains.
    • Vorox is not a bone hunter.
    • Unlike in the Matoran universe, romance has potential in the 2009 setting, though it almost definitely won't occur in story.
    • One female set will be released in summer, as she will be a major movie character.
    • Greg likes Malum's character, as well as those of some summer sets.
    • We will not learn Mata Nui's personality in the first 2009 book.
    • The storyline of 2009 will span probably a couple months.
    • The UDD map is going to appear on Bara Magna early on in the storyline.
    • The Red Star can be seen dimly from Bara Magna.

    MATORAN UNIVERSE
    • Teridax will not attempt to conquer Bara Magna, since there is not much there worth conquering.
    • Since he already has telepathy, Teridax can now read the minds of anyone in the Matoran universe.
    • Not many shadow Takanuva exist on Destral, maybe half a dozen.
    • Mata Nui didn't die as a direct result of the virus, but of the damage of his fall.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE
    • The cosmology of the universe will be dealt with in future storyline.
    • The Great Beings created the Red Star (this seems to be important).
    • The Red Star's purpose is not to follow Mata Nui as he travels.
    • The inhabitants of Bara Magna were the Great Beings' inspiration when they designed the Matoran and other creatures of the Matoran universe.
    • Greg would say it's very doubtful that any Glatorian ever personally met a Great Being.
    • The Great Beings would know what the UDD map is. Mata Nui and the Makuta should know, but don't. Brutaka knows now.
    • The "three that must be one, the two that must make them one" do not refer to the three dots and two outer rings of the UDD map.
    • Spherus Magna is not the place to which Mata Nui was headed before he crash-landed on the endless ocean planet.
    • The Shattering took place before the Makuta rejected their light.

    GENERAL

    • Tobduk, Jerbraz, and Ancient were never part of the Hand of Artakha.
    • There is going to be a Bionicle 2009 video game.

    Guess which animal.

So, I just got back yesterday from a trip. Twelve-hour car rides aren't my favorite thing, but I'm just glad to be back. School starts on Thursday.

I'll tell you the answer to the above in a later entry. Unless of course someone gets it before then. I think you'll be surprised by the answer.

Just recently I -- with assistance from my dad -- was able to set up a couple of back-to-back shelving units to display my Bionicle collection.

And I still couldn't get to display the playsets -- just no room .

Hello there, readers! This is the first entry of the Farshtey Feed, my OGD Weekly Digest. Come here every Friday to get condensed notes from the OGD. Notice the new bar in the Links box. We'll see how this goes!

    KARDA NUI
    • The waters of the swamp glow in places.
    • Tanma, Photok, and Solek are off fighting other Shadow Matoran during Endgame.
    • Mutran creates the Klakk that end up in Karda Nui.

    • Mutran creates Klakk in Karda Nui for defense and because Rahi creation is his profession as well as his hobby.
    • Mutran wanted to create Klakk in Karda Nui to harry the Toa.
    • A Klakk cannot destroy mental shielding.
    • The organic stone suspending Mutran's hive was a variant of his living rock.
    • The Makuta in Karda Nui do not know of the energy storms.
    • The Mistika Makuta took their swamp forms and then got locked by the swamp mutagen.

    DESTINY WAR
    • There is a connection between Nektann's spiky Muaka and the spiky Muaka the Toa Metru encountered near Makuta's lair returning to Metru Nui.
    • Jaller and probably Hahli are the most affected by Matoro's death.
    • Trinuma is offshore Destral.
    • There are about a half dozen Skakdi warlords.
    • Female Skakdi are actually more vicious and destructive than male Skakdi.
    • Zaktan is with the Toa Hagah when they come to the Coliseum.

    DWELLERS IN DARKNESS
    • The four-armed OoMN member's axe has multiple blades on each side.

    THE BIG PICTURE
    • Mata Nui had no need to sleep when he was awake.
    • Greg would say that even Mata Nui would not live forever if the Matoran always kept working.
    • The forges and caverns said to be where the Ignika was forged were someplace other than the Matoran universe.
    • The Great Beings regularly wear some clothing.
    • If Greg had to guess, he would say the Bionicle planet is smaller than Earth, although that is just a guess.

    GENERAL

    -Locations
    • The Heart of the Visorak was on the Tren Krom Peninsula.
    • The southern continent is bigger than the north.
    • The Pit is south of the northern continent.
    • Ko-Metru is naturally cold.
    • All the Rahi native to Voya Nui are native to the SC.

    -Characters
    • Umbra's mind is not shielded.
    • Lhikan saw a lot of Toa in his time (as a Matoran?).
    • The Tahtorak on Metru Nui probably came from Zakaz.

    -Storyline
    • Everyone felt it when Jovan's team brought Mata Nui back to full health after the Great Disruption.
    • The Toa who subdued the Kanohi Dragon on Metru Nui the first time were visiting, since the city was a major trade port. They were probably a team visiting.
    • The Kanohi Dragon was sealed away in the Great Barrier.
    • Tuyet's betrayal was 3500 years ago.
    • The five Toa Mahri (without Takanuva, so he could guard the city) subdued the Kardas Dragon, then Takanuva disappeared.
    • Nocturn has been captured.

    -Brotherhood of Makuta
    • The other Makuta serve projects at Teridax's discretion.
    • The Toa Metru's creation came as an annoyance to Teridax.
    • Teridax can deduce something like the Codrex must exist, but otherwise he does not know of it specifically.
    • Teridax learned how to wake up the Bohrok from Mutran's encounter with Tren Krom.
    • A protosteel weapon will always be strong enough to pierce a Makuta's armor.

    MATORAN UNIVERSE

    STORY SERIALS
    • Despite the scroll's explication that the volcanic chain of Artidax be quelled by the Toa Nuva, the Order of Mata Nui caused the volcano on the island to erupt and kill the Visorak hordes because the Order deemed the Visorak a clear and present danger. [source]
    • Tren Krom can use Lewa Nuva's mask power. [source]
    • Teridax has no intention of destroying the Great Temple because it poses no threat to him, and may be needed for the efficient operation of Metru Nui, which is after all his brain now. [source]
    • Helryx would probably have something close to a Toa Mata build in terms of appearance. [source]
    • Alternate Teridax does not have all the same Rahkshi powers as Makuta in the Matoran universe. Greg says that most likely some of his powers would be similar and some would be different. He still possesses shapeshifting and telepathy. [source]
    • Any Kraata that alternate Teridax would create would be quite different from the ones in the Matoran universe, since they would not be corrupt. [source]
    • Alternate Teridax carries a warhammer. [source]

    ARTAKHA & KARZAHNI
    • Artakha's purpose in the Matoran universe was to create and invent; Karzahni's was to repair things that were broken. [source]
    • The contest between Artakha and Karzahni over the Mask of Creation was also over the right to the occupation Artakha took as creator and inventor. [source]
    • On why the Great Beings made only one Mask of Creation for Artakha and Karzahni to compete for: "Maybe they didn't feel that two were needed. You know, any artist will tell you it is easier to work on your own than to have to collaborate with someone and deal with their creative instincts which might not be the same as your own." [source]
    • On whether Artakha used the Mask of Creation to create Kanohi masks of power: "I tend to think not. You certainly wouldn't need a schematic to make a mask, and while you possibly could make a powered mask out of thin air with the Mask of Creation, if I were Artakha, I wouldn't do that. I think, especially with powered masks, it's something you want to do with your own hands to make sure it comes out right." [source]
    • It is unknown what method the Matoran of Artakha use to make Kanohi. [source]
    • Greg tends to doubt that the Matoran of Karzahni made Kanohi masks. [source]
    • Greg does not necessarily see the Ta-Matoran of Metru Nui as better mask-makers than the Matoran of Artakha. [source]
    • The Nuva symbols were most likely created by Artakha. [source]

    KANOHI
    • Examples of the elemental power of Creation include creating inorganic objects out of thin air and providing (mentally) detailed schematics of a desired creation. [source]
    • Greg is sure that the Mask of Creation was made before the Mask of Life, given how late in the process of Mata Nui's construction the Ignika was created. [source]
    • On whether the Mask of Creation changes shape like the Ignika: "That actually is logical, but I have a different spin on it than what we did with Ignika." [source]
    • Creation is not a Toa element. [source]
    • Time, Life, and Creation are properly considered Legendary mask powers rather than elements. [source]
    • The Great Beings are the only ones with the knowhow to create a Kanohi Olisi. [source]
    • The Toa Hagah's Kanohi turn gray when removed, like normal Kanohi. [source]
    • It would be a redundancy for a Makuta to use a Kanohi Iden, since a Makuta is already able to leave its physical shell. [source]
    • The Kanohi Mahiki's illusions are optical in nature rather than mental like the Makuta's. [source]
    • If a Toa Kaita's multi-powered Kanohi were removed from its face, it would remain a single mask only as long as the Toa Kaita remained merged. [source]

    TOA
    • On Vakama's tendency to receive visions: "Personally, I think it is a glitch in his AI." [source]
    • It is possible that there are other teams of Turaga still working together like Vakama and his group. [source]
    • When the Toa Metru discovered the island of Mata Nui, they were aware by the sky and the sunlight that they had journeyed outside of the Matoran universe. [source]
    • When the Toa Mata combined their elemental powers against Makuta in 2001, they did not create a protodermis cage because they did not do so all at the same exact time. Timing must be precise for the creation of a protodermis cage. [source]
    • On the state of the Toa Mahri's destiny: "It was to save his life, and although Matoro died doing it, they all contributed. Without them, he never gets the mask. And you only become a Turaga if you both fulfill your destiny AND choose to give up your Toa power. In the current situation, choosing to become Turaga would be foolish of them." [source]
    • Toa power can only be deposited in inanimate objects like a Toa stone, not living beings. [source]

    MATA NUI ROBOT
    • It is possible for Mata Nui's camouflage system to form islands of different shapes. [source]
    • Mata Nui's camouflage is on his head only, since the rest of his body is submerged when he is landed. [source]

    OTHER
    • One would have to assume that the Kraawa on Metru Nui was recaptured at some point in the last thousand years. [source]
    • The Makuta were meant to evolve into antidermis so that Teridax would be able to assume control of the Matoran universe robot body. [source]
    • A version of a character in an alternate universe cannot travel into another one where their character is dead or otherwise incapable and take over its destiny in that universe. [source]
    • A mind remains constant in terms of willpower regardless of which body it is in. [source]
    • In terms of mental powers, Makuta has strong mental powers, but Mata Nui has stronger willpower, so Makuta would not be able to break his mind easily. Same with Tren Krom; he has very strong willpower, so Makuta would be taking a risk getting into a mental battle with him. [source]
    • On whether Teridax has properly achieved his destiny by possessing Mata Nui's body: "No. Teridax's destiny was to use the MU while Mata Nui used the third robot the GBs were supposed to build. The prototype was a failed experiment that did not enter into the GB's plan. And the essence of destiny is that it is, as the word implies, a destination -- often, how you get there may vary, but what matters is that you get there." [source]

    BARA MAGNA
    • The incapacity to create new things on Bara Magna is not the result of an artificial process like the destruction of the Mask of Creation in the Matoran universe; it is the result of the historical challenges Bara Magna's society has faced. [source]
    • The sun-rock referenced in the name of the sun-rock dragon simply refers to a rock that gets bleached by the fact that the sun beats down on it all day. [source]
    • The female Rock Agori are still living with the Rock tribe, since they do not have the powers of female Skrall and present no need for them to be exiled. [source]
    • Greg supposes that the opinion of the Sisters of the Skrall toward non-Rock Tribe members with contempt same as those within the main tribe do. [source]
    • Leader class Skrall led warriors in the field during the Core War. [source]

    BIONICLE 2010
    • The Ignika is inside the robot that Mata Nui is inhabiting, so it is not going to be making another body for itself. [source]
    • The Toa Nuva can access their Suva while on Bara Magna. [source]
    • Tahu, devolved into a Toa Mata, would no longer be able to form a Toa Kaita with the other Toa Nuva. [source]
    • The Ignika will be able to evolve Tahu back into a Toa Nuva. [source]
    • The golden armor has a very specific use, though this use is not specific to any particular situation or purpose. It does not enhance Tahu's fire ability. [source]
    • Mata Nui enables the inhabitants of Bara Magna and the Matoran universe to communicate with each other. [source]

    STORY PLANS
    • Greg will likely describe Artakha's appearance in the next chapter of Reign of Shadows. [source]
    • There are future chapters planned for Reign of Shadows, at least until the end of March. [source]
    • Greg believes the first chapter of Journey's End will be released in mid-April. [source]
    • On the new serial featuring a new Toa team: "What is holding that up is I cannot write a serial about six new Toa without six new names, so until I have an approved name list, I can't work on this." [source]
    • Story serials are the only medium through which Greg plans to write for this year. [source]
    • Greg thinks there may be a far-off, bird's eye view of the Great Beings to be shown later this year. [source]
    • Voporak and the Vahi still have importance in the story. [source]
    • Greg does not think that Takanuva's destiny will be fulfilled by the time the comics are over. [source]
    • On whether Greg will be attending Comic-Con 2010: "No one has talked to me one way or the other yet. In prior years, BIONICLE always paid my travel and expenses for the con, which they would obviously have no reason to do in 2010. Club might want me to go, but my attitude is that I have been there six years in a row and someone else should get the chance to go who hasn't been yet. It's not going to "hurt my feelings" if I don't get to go this year, and frankly, since I am so associated with BIONICLE, it might confuse some kids if I am there and BIONICLE is not." [source]

    BARA MAGNA
    • Greg: "Sandbat is a creature, looks like of like a python with bat wings. Lives under the sand, mostly, springs out, attacks you, then dives back under." Greg would say sand bats are a good 7-8 feet long.
    • The water tribe is probably the most economically powerful village, due to its water resources.
    ● Greg, on the Rock tribe's access to advanced technology: "Has nothing to do with where they live. Has to do with where they LIVED." "Like the Skrall, the rock tribe was cut off from its homeland after the global disaster."

    GLATORIAN
    • Not all the Glatorian were on the same side in the EP war. The Skrall, however, were all on the same side.
    • The annual tournament at the Arena Magna is called the Great Tournament.

    AGORI
    • Metus's shield probably belonged to one of the Glatorian he trained and was given to him as payment.
    ● Agori who remember life before the Shattering, if they were alive at the time, mostly don't like to talk about it and will often pretend ignorance if dealing with a complete stranger.
    • Physical characteristics such as strength do not vary among the Agori tribes; they vary with the individual, as in humans.
    • The Arena Magna was built by the Agori.
    • The sand tribe was always nomadic.
    ● The Agori once lived on Spherus Magna.

    BONE HUNTERS
    • Rock steeds are omnivores and are easily trained after subdued in battle.
    • Bone hunters capture rock steeds in the wild.
    • Fero and Skirmix are prominent in the first novel.

    SERIALS
    • Vezon's Olmak is fused onto his face.
    • Scodonius is from Tajun.

    GENERAL

    -Story
    • The Red Star was created before the Shattering.
    ● Greg: "The timeline is, roughly, January comic -- Empire of the Skrall/Raid on Vulcanus/Riddle of the Great Beings -- The Crossing, Parts 1-4 -- March comic -- July comic/Crossing Parts 5-6 -- movie. Not sure where Sept. and Nov. comics will fall yet."
    • The characters in the movie will more closely resemble their set forms than in previous movies.

    -Matoran Universe
    ● The Great Beings are the ones who tampered with the Blade Burrowers.
    • The two bodies near Mata Nui's consciousness under Metru Nui are not Great Beings.
    ● Greg, on Mata Nui's knowledge of his mission: "There was obviously a lot of damage done to his memory by the virus, since he also does not remember why he was created."
    • Venom eels are native to the endless ocean.

Just to warn you, this is sort of a storyline rant. Don't take it the wrong way -- I like the story, always have, but sometimes things just need to be said, you know. This time around, it's about Hewkii's mask power.

I'm reading through Prisoners of the Pit again, and Hewkii is using his mask of Gravity to make a 200-foot venom eel slam into the sea floor and a Takea shark float helplessly away to the surface. And I'm thinking this is just one of the most miserable plot defects I've encountered in Bionicle. When you're maneuvering underwater, what is the force that makes you sink or rise? It ain't gravity. It's bouyancy. Density determines "weight" underwater, and mass is almost a negligible factor. The hardcore theorizers will blame it on altered physics, but honestly, do the same tweaked physics that allow for a life-supporting ocean magically cause water pressure to cease to exist? Gravity is the most useless power to have in the ocean. Consider this: the same multi-ton ocean liner that sits like a permanent fixture on land stays afloat in water. That's what it's engineered to do. It's all about density. A compressed block of steel of the same exact mass of the ship would sink like a stone in the ocean, but the ship is constructed with specialized, hollow chambers that make it of greater volume without ever increasing its total mass, therefore decreasing its density. And that turns that hopelessly sinkable block of steel into a reliably bouyant sea vessel. See how relatively little it takes for density to overcome the "mighty" pull of gravity? How could Hewkii use the force of gravity against sea creatures endowed with natural floatation mechanisms?

    Just thinkin. =]

BTW, I will be away from the net until a week from Sunday.

Also, if you would be so kind to read this post, tell me what you think.

    Farshtey Feed 1-year Anniversary!
It was one year ago today, on September 12, 2008, when I posted the very first entry of the Farshtey Feed. What a great response I've gotten over the past year! Here's a great big thanks to you guys for making the Farshtey Feed a pleasure to run.

    BIONICLE STARS
    • The Bionicle Stars will be a part of the storyline, although their smaller size is non-canon, as Toa Mata Nui's larger scale was.
    • Teridax will be coming to Bara Magna, which is how the Bionicle Stars characters will factor in to the story.
    • On the Bionicle Stars: "Well, two are Toa, one is a Rahkshi, one is a Skakdi, one is a Glatorian, and one is a Skrall."
    • The Bionicle Stars are named such because they represent some of the most popular characters from the series.
    • The blue Skakdi is labeled as a Piraka because of its familiarity as a brand name.
    • The yellow Rahkshi possesses the heat vision power.
    • Takanuva will not be treated in story as if he is still in twilight form.
    • While Tahu appears in Toa Mata for as part of the Stars line, the other Toa will appear in story as well, though they will not be featured in the same way and will not be reverted back into Toa Mata form.
    • Tahu's gold-armored form will be canon. He is not wearing one of the gold Kanohi from 2001 story. His mask only has the power of shielding, but it is part of a larger power tied to the full set of armor. He no longer has his abilities as a Toa Nuva.
    • The green Skrall in the Stars lineup is of the warrior class.

    THE LEGEND REBORN
    • A combination of gravity wells and impacts redirected the Ignika back toward Bara Magna on its escape path from Aqua Magna.
    • The elemental powers bestowed on the Glatorian were not already dormant inside of them; rather, they were generated by the Mask of Life. Their abilities are roughly equivalent to those of Toa, although they do not possess the same level of control.
    • The fight between Tarix and Vastus in the Legend Reborn was for rights over the Hot Springs as a water source in light of the attacks on Tajun's caravans.
    • The prototype robot was never controlled by an artificial intelligence like Mata Nui.
    • The prototype robot is about two-thirds the size of the Mata Nui robot.
    • All captured Agori and Vorox were freed when Roxtus was abandoned.
    • The Glatorian now serve as a defense force for the united village. Ackar has become the leader of the united village's defense force, and Raanu acts as leader of the mega-city.
    • Strakk has been banished.
    • "Strakk does not get banished until after the events of the movie. Think about what happened after the fight with Ackar -- the attack on Tajun, and Tesara, the whole world is at war, Iconox did not have time to worry about disciplining Glatorian when the village was in danger of being overrun. Strakk got banished after the defeat of the Skrall."
    • Mata Nui has no involvement in the mega-city now; he is busy with a quest of his own and is not hanging around.
    • By the end of the Legend Reborn, Mata Nui is able to control the Ignika consciously.

    SKRALL
    • The Element Lord of Rock is a leader class Skrall.
    • All leader class Skrall automatically rank a name.

    BARA MAGNA
    • The Shattering was caused by the Element Lords' attempts to use the EP Spring, which lead to the explosion of the planet's core.
    • "Dormus" is the Agori word for "peaceful."
    • The Element Lords have better control over their elements than the Toa Nuva do.

    MATORAN UNIVERSE
    • Mata Nui's mission was to traverse the universe, observing societies so that a massive war such as the Core War would not break out again, and then to pull Spherus Magna back together.
    • Teridax's destiny may or may not have been to take over Mata Nui's body; Greg states that the real question is whether or not one robot alone would be able to pull three planets together.
    • Legends of the Toa Mata had existed on Metru Nui prior to the Matoran's migration to Mata Nui, though there had not been particular reason to talk about it much.
    • On the original process to reawaken Mata Nui: "Basically, it's a long process that involves each Toa giving a small part of their energy in sequence to do slowly what the Ignika did all at once. Could easily take 12 hours or more to finish."
