  1. I don't see much of what I'm looking for in the picture above other than the blue kakama and it looks like it may have already been claimed but I figured it was worth listing what masks I need in case you're willing to reach into your own collection or if there are some things not pictured. I'm looking for:

    Great Kanohi

    White hau

    Blue kakama

    Trans-clear kaukau

    Kanohi Nuva

    Blue kakama nuva

    Misprints

    Green matatu

    White matatu

    Blue ruru

    Brown ruru

  2. Glad to see you are continuing to work on these. My only critiques are those that have already been mentioned. I was not particularly bothered by the head angles and thought Jala's walk looked pretty smooth. I would agree with those before me that it could be sped up a little, but you are continuing to accurately represent the aesthetics of the original MNOLG.

  3. Just downloaded and took a look at CD 1. It looks like there's some really cool stuff there as far as how Lego perceived it's own product line and how they presented it to new members of the team. I may be the only one, but I also thought the legal stuff as far as trademarks and logos was interesting as far as how specific it is and the importance of consistency.

The best thing I think was that there were the downloadable images. I'm not sure if I've even seen all of them before, but some of them were only pictured small on boxes or instructions as far as I know and it's really cool to be able to see them in higher resolution and without text overlay on some of them.

I'll look at CD 2 later. And as a sidenote for people not familiar with .iso files. It is a disc image which can be mounted on a virtual drive to be viewed just like a physical CD you put in your computer.

  4. The pre-alpha looks incredible so far. I walked around and looked for everything and everyone I could find. In case someone hasn't already pointed them out, I wanted to let you know of some minor typos:

    Daleo and Jaller

End conversation with save travels instead of safe travels

    Hahlii

    says lear instead of learn

    Okoth

    Says seeked instead of sought

    Marka

-those gear-like plates is instead of are

    -contruct instead of construct

Other than that, my only critique was that some of the plants and things in Ga-Koro are looking pretty static. If the harkekeye (sp?) and bamboo could blow in the wind every once in a while or something like that, I think it would really help bring everything to life a little more. I did want to say that I really enjoyed the animations of the characters and rahi, especially the kewa which seems to move pretty realistically like a bird. I also liked that you brought back the whole Hahlii/Jaller thing. I know that was kind of phased out after MNOLG, since I think Greg said there was only one guy on the story team really pushing for it and it was dropped after he left, but I always felt like that was one of the aspects of the game that brought it to life a little more and made it easier to relate to.

  5.

I don't know that he's relisting the same WMKK. I think he just has more than one. I actually bought one of them and was happy with it other than the fact that it smelled like smoke, but since he didn't say it came from a smoke-free home, I suppose I shouldn't have assumed it. You can see my feedback and the feedback of others who have bought his WMKKs here.

  6. I'm interested in your process of completing the villages as it seems like a daunting task. Do you usually make basic forms of multiple villages at a time and come back to add detail or do you try to perfect one village before going on to the next one?

  7. I continue to be amazed by your work and the time in which you've done it. I like you're explanation for a bigger Ga-Koro that is not exactly like the game. I feel like you can do something like that with every village if you needed to. It allows you to both stay true to the original but also give people the same feelings of wonder they received from exploring new areas in the original games. You have really captured the essence of MNOG with the rahi models. I feel like not including the holes in the liftarm pieces of the rahi is really reminiscent of the somewhat simplified versions of the rahi in set form that were characteristic of Templar's art style. I also noticed that I had never seen a ussal with those colors before. Are you using different colors for ussal crabs in different villages?

  8. I haven't heard of many people making parts individually and using them to build characters but in something like this, I see how it would make sense to do it so that you could reuse already modeled pieces. I have no skill in the subject but I wondered, how does the difficulty of rigging and animating characters built with the individual pieces method compare to the rigging and animating of a model that was made altogether?

It's cool that so many pieces you had already made were able to be incorporated into the mahi models. Do you think you'll ever try building some of the bigger rahi like the tarakava?

I also saw that you recently graduated college with a degree in Game Art and Animation. Was this part of a school project or was it just a side project you wanted to do?

  9. Thanks for posting the video here as I don't know that I would have come across it otherwise. I really enjoyed it. I found it to be reminiscent of MNOLG and some of the old Legend of Mata Nui videos. I don't think I've ever seen the 3D models of the mahi before. I could see this being used to make a great game or video.

  10. Well it kind of sucks having to write this, but I thought I should let everyone know that the Gold Hau was a fake :( . It was the original red Hau that came with the set, painted in a chrome/gold color with holes punched in the side of it to look like a genuine Hau. The seller claimed ignorance to knowing it was a fake since his father supposedly gave it to him, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt (frustrating though it may be) since he did issue me a refund. Be wary if he ever puts it back up on eBay.

    - :t: :l: :h:

I'm glad he gave you a refund, TLH, but I'm surprised he did if he was just going to re-list it. I would agree with Flintsmith that a negative review and an explanation of your experience with the seller in addition to reporting the item might help warn other potential buyers that are not members on this site.
