I'll probably end up getting it but only if they don't release some update to allow me to use whatever megas or whatever I like from X and Y. (Which they probably won't)

Having a little bit of trouble parsing this sentence. Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire will almost assuredly contain all the Mega Evolutions from X and Y (although possibly not all of the Mega Stones required to use them yourself). They may also contain new Mega Evolutions, and those might even become useable in X and Y—remember, X and Y have already been patched once, so another patch might very well add full compatibility with the new games (adding new Megas and possibly making the ORAS protagonists able to show up in the PSS, for example). I would not, however, expect the Mega Stones from the new games to be made available in X and Y, so if you want to use any of the new ones you'll probably have to trade a Pokémon from the new games holding the necessary stones.

Typo. Meant "in X and Y" So yeah, any new mega stones in Saphire/Ruby probably won't be available or usable in X and Y (Most likely) which is what I was saying.

You'll probably be able to see them and fight them though like the alternate kyurem and Djinns like in BW though.

  2. I know I'm gonna get flack for this but...

I did not like ruby and sapphire as games, the music was terrible (Never knew before I played the game but I freaking hate trumpets) and they had by far the stupidest gangs in all of Pokémon history,

I'll probably end up getting it but only if they don't release some update to allow me to use whatever megas or whatever I like from X and Y. (Which they probably won't)

...Or they put in another world tournament thing but with the elite four members as well.

  3. Street Fighter and MvC aren't really all that complicated when you understand it. Basically, they aren't easy to just pick up and play like Smash Bros., but I feel that once you do have a grasp on it, they aren't much more complex.

I once again have to agree with Ghoti on this, when I started playing fighters back in 2009, it was very hard for me to play them, but now they're pretty much the only games I play.

What are your opinions on Street Fighter? I got II: Special Champion Edition for free with my Genesis a few months ago, and I LOVE the game, way more than SSF4, which I had on 3DS and played a decent amount of on 360.

Sf3 is my favorite, due to the fluid animations and the fact that necro is in it, (my favorite Street fighter character) however, I can't get very into the game because I don't have the patience to learn it since it's very slow and the parry makes the game very hard to win at vs. someone who knows what they are doing. Other then that I play Super Street fighter 4: Arcade edition because every character from SF2 is in it so I can play as guile, and akuma, and one of my friends can play as cody and Gouken and my brother can play as bison and makoto. I guess basically it comes down to who's in which street fighter game rather then the gameplay.

Mostly though I just stick to smash bros, MVC3 and M.U.G.E.N.

  4.

Also, how does MvC3 compare to MvC2? I didn't like MvC2 that much (It was too complicated for my tastes), although if it's simpler, I might give it a try. Always looking for another fighting game to try, I've yet to really find any fighters I like outside of the Arc System Works bubble besides Dead or Alive and Smash.

They simplified the gameplay from the way it was in MVC2, I hated how medium attacks were only doable from light attacks in MVC2, that was stupid. Now in mvc3, there are light, medium, heavy and launcher buttons and the gameplay is much better because of it, though I would've prefered the standard 6-button layout of MVC1 (But I have M.U.G.E.N. for that anyway), but it's okay, since most of the moves in mvc don't have any real purpose

oddly enough, I can't get into persona 4 arena or Blazblue, even though I like arakune or Persona in general, because I feel the games are too complicated.

first off gamefreak doesnt make movies lol

I just meant that I doubt the people who make movies would make a movie about an old pokemon if it wasen't popular.

i cant prove something is 'more popular' without taking a poll

i can however prove that nintendo, at the very least, loves lucario:

    -first pokemon to mega evolve

-one was locked away in a staff for a thousand years (debut in anime in the 8th movie)

-a pseudo-superpower in the form of aura

which is certainly more attention that nintendo has been giving greninja or even megaman in the past seven years so complaining about lucario isn't fair. i retract 'luc and mewtwo are the same' statements.

Yeah, well, I like lucario too, I just don't think mewtwo isn't popular, in fact (dunno how credible it is, because it's IGN) Mewtwo was the second most populour pokemon on GN's pokemon poll, after Charizard.

  5.

You make it sound like 200 hours is a lot. I've logged over 900 into Brawl.

Nah, that was just before I got to play melee, I have no idea what the number is now, probably something similier. EDIT; Just checked, it's 928:12.

I'm seeing a bit about Marvel vs. Capcom now. Last summer, I was playing that game with friends several times a week, and I have to say that it is my favorite fighter after Smash Bros. It's got a lot in common - being much more unique than most fighters out there, and being one that can be casually played. And, much like Smash Bros., it's crazier presentation and unorthodox style hide a very deep and underestimated amount of skill when the game is taken seriously.

Thanks for agreeing with me on this one, that's all I was trying to say.

  6. 'Not like most fighting games at all.'

I don't see it. Let's see, in MvC, you only move left and right,

You can move in the z-axis in smash?

jumping is in a fixed arc, specials take complex button inputs to use.

I guess I'll give you those, but in MVC, there are character with double and triple jumps, unlike in most other fighters, and superjumps, where you can change your momentum in the air.

.. Aka the things that almost any other fighter but Smash do. I've never gotten into those games, they feel so rigid and memorizing all those motions isn't enoyable for me. Smash, on the other hand, has simple to pick up controls, movement feels fluid.

Learning commands is not a hard process, especially the simplified control in mvc3. the movement in mvc is very fluid, unless you are playig as arthur, but whatever, anyone who's played MVC can tell you it is not a rigid game, the game is very flexable, which is why I compared it to smash, because for the most part, you can hit whenever or wherever you want, but it follows a lot of the rules of a typical fighting game. MVC is NOT Street fighter or King of fighters, both of those games are very ristrictive and slow, like the typical fighting game, however, when you first play the game it does feel intimdating, because the gap between knowing what you are doing and not is much larger then what it is in smash.

But I digress, I never said they were the same game, it's just that they are both looser, less restrictive fighting games with tons crazy things that can happen due to the greater freedom then other fighters allow, Heck, Most of the terms used from smash come from MVC, like wavedashing and Teching, which is why I contrasted them with games like street fighter, which are more restrictive and slow.

  7. Just to let you know, I myself am talking from the perspective of the developers. Though to be honest, I don't want Smash Bros. to end up yet another fighting game, as the fact it's so unique is what compels me to play it. The game is a mish-mash of a fighting game, party game, and some Kirby Super Star thrown in for good measure. The game is very unique with how it handles gameplay, forgoing complex button inputs for a simple yet deep control scheme for example. I don't want to lose that. Standard fighting games used to be innovative, now they're standard. Smash is still innovative, because there's still very little like it.

The reason competitive players are so stigmatized is because they are seen as taking the game way too seriously. Because at the end of the day, you are playing a game where electric mice, swordsmen, plumbers, and pink puffballs can fight each other with no explanation why. And competitive fighting players are stereotyped in general as seeing people who play the game differently from themselves as dumb.

I agree, I like the way Smash plays, that's why I like MVC, it's not like most fighting games at all, and the game gets crazy the things you can do.

I also Agree. I do not like people who take something WAY to seriously, I mean, it's just a game. It's not like I can't play the game with items on, and I usually choose picto chat, big blue or termina bay or other absurd stages when I play Smash, so I don't consider myself a "hardcore competitive" player anyway, I just don't get the stigma from either groups.

  8. Really? REALLY? You have to swear at me through the filter and accuse me of being anti-competitive? Fine, since it was so offensive to you, let me explain myself. Sakurai and Nintendo want the games to be a party game of sorts, where any competition is friendly and having stupid stuff like the fans or Bob-ombs allowed. However, the competitive players of Smash ARE stereotyped as the 'Stop having fun guys' who look down on casual players and demand 'No items, Fox only, Final Destination'. THAT is what I mean by 'serious business'. At the end of the day, even if you legitimately enjoy playing competitively, it's still not as friendly as the 'intended gameplay' of Smash Bros., which is just run around and do as many stupid things as possible to have fun. Smash will never be more like a fighting game, I can guarantee that. Competitive players are very lucky that Sakurai even acknowledges their existence in the first place, much less implement measures to please them.

I didn't "swear to you through the filter" I actually think I said the "H" word, not the "F" word, however, BZPower's Filter makes every mild word comes out as though I'm saying the "f" word. (sorry if I don't make a big deal out of it, I say the "H" word so much I can't even imagine it being offensive"

On another note, I play my fighting games "friendly" (considering I don't care who wins) I'm unsure how "doing as many stupid things as possible" Means being more friendly but whatever, I don't know why smash being more like a standard fighting game in terms of combos and balance offends or makes you mad, but it's how every fighting game should be (which is how this game is being made). Making a game more balanced in fact should also increase the "friendly" players too, since they can't complain over something being over-powered, (Like meta-knights B attack).

What I was talking about is how people seem to hate anyone who turns off items or doesn't play on stages with hazards as if it's some sort of cardinal sin.

Likewise I hate people who try to tell people to ONLY play like that and don't seem to know what fun is.

  9.

    your new is showing

I've been playing brawl since launch. I played brawl so ###### much (like 200+ hours ) I got sick of the game and it's complete lack of balance or even an attempt at being a coherent fighting game, made even worse by a guy who took the game way to seriously and would chain grab you with any character who had it, and played characters based on whatever the tier list was at the time) Maybe "your new is showing" since you actually think brawl has any sort of combos (jabs do not count), since, as stated before, you can cancel every single amout of hitstun with an air dodge.

they trying hard to make lucario one of the new mascots, he's very relevant. mewtwo is only the 'third most popular pokemon' if you only ask people who played rby first. those people are becoming a minority, if just a vocal minority.

Mewtwo was in the latest movie, Mewtwo got two mega-Evolutions, just like charizard, who is easily the second or first most popular pokemon of all time. the only thing Lucario got was one mega evolution. Mega evolution were chosen based on Pokemon Popularity, and the two most populour pokemon got 2.

Show proof that Lucario is more populor then Mewtwo, you cannot use smash 4's inclusion of lucario, because mewtwo has not been proven to be not in the game. Also explain why would gamefreak waste their time on making a movie and two mega evoloutions for a pokemon that is no longer relevent?

    OH HITSTUN CANCELING!

Brawl had a different way of doing things. Yes, they could cancel hitstun with airdodges, but there was lag after every airdodge. Would you prefer I use the term "followup"?

Yes that term is more appropriate.

Actually, Lucario's just as relevant as Mewtwo and Charizard, he got a Mega Evolution too, you know. It was shown off in the Nintendo Direct even!

For those of you who want a Melee-esque game, sorry, Sakurai doesn't agree. He regrets Melee, saying he made it 'too difficult'. While that seems like a good thing to some, making a highly competetive game alienates the target audience, the younger or more casual fans of Nintendo. Say as many bad things about them as you want, there's more money to be made by targeting them than the competitive scene. He has however taken measures with SSB4 to appeal to both crowds. Characters aren't as floaty, the gameplay moves considerably faster, and combos seem to be a thing again. Even the online is split between just having fun and SERIOUS BUSINESS. No wavedashing, but Nintendo hates that and they took great measures not to implement it in Brawl, so....

Exactly, I'm not anti-lucario Mind you, I like him, in fact I think he's pretty cool and made for a unique fighter and I predicted his comeback, what I am against is this guys ridiculous amount of hate on mewtwo, even though, as you just said, mewtwo got a mega evoloutn (2, mind you) and was also in the latest movie.

I could care less for wavedashing, but I disliked brawl for being as slow and broken it was. I play other fighting game, some of which are obsencly broken, Like MVC3, but brawl took it to a whole new level, like an MVC2 sort of level. Brawl made the good characters way too good, and the bad characters unplayable.

As a guy who barely had any time playing melee until Brawl came out, I can tell you that, even though I didn't get to play melee until much after brawl came out, melee was better because of the hitstun and physics of the game, it felt more like a fighting game because of it. This new game looks great and I can't wait to play it, because, as you said, they made the game faster and combos, and they have namco helping balancing the game, so most likely the game won't be broken to the level of brawl. my only complaint of the new game, is why turn every stage into final destination? There should be battlefield versions as well, since a lot of characters, like ganondorf, need platform to do well against projectile-heavy characters, like link or samus.

ALSO on another note, I have to ask, what the ###### do you mean by "serious" buisness and "having fun" Are you implying you can't have fun without Items and stupid stage hazards? I like playing smash without those because the game feels like a fighting game when you turn them off, and I have lots of fun with fighting games, is it wrong tht I want smash to be more like other fighting games? not to say I hate stages with hazard (big blue is one of my favorite stages) or items mind you, it's just that I enjoy playing more without them, by this kind of logic, Street fighter is not a fun game because it doesn't have items dropping from the sky and the stage isn't out to kill me.

  10. EDIT: Also noticing how comboing seems to be a huge focus this time around. Hopefully they find a balance between the quick, combos of Melee and the precise combos of Brawl.

-> Implying brawl had any sort of combos, excluding the rediculous amount of chain grabs.

mewtwo isnt really relevant anymore. he was special because he was the ONLY legendary you could get in those games, but now there are at least fifty other legendaries and a good deal of them are cooler. there are just five hundred million fans who want mewtwo because of nostalgia, even though he plays basically just like lucario does. there's no real reason to include both of them, whereas greninja is super freaking cool -and- brand new -and- has the potential to differentiate himself from not only lucario, but every fighter.

What game were you playing where mewtwo plays like lucario.

Mewtwo is the third most popular pokemon, after charizard and Pikachu, he got 2 Megas in x and y Just like charizard and charizard is in this game, mewtwo was in a the latest pokemon movie.

If anything, lucario isn't relevent anymore, but they put him in.

On another note, I play Ganondorf in melee, Yoshi in 64 and G&W in Brawl.

But I mostly play project M now, because I can actually play as Yoshi, Ganondorf, G&W, Luigi, Bowser and Mewtwo and they all are fun to play as. (INB4 the PROJECT M Is Melee with more characters!!1!!1!! when in reality, only fox, falco Captain falcon, marth and Shiek play like Melee in it.)

My Favorite stages are: Brinstar Depths, Big Blue, PictoChat and Termina Bay.

  11. I haven't played pokemon in like 2 months.. I was breeding a speed boost scolipede but I got bored of it and haven't touched the thing since.

Oh, for espeon, how you tried a duel screen set with magic bounce? (it's HA)

    Magic BOunce

IVs Maxed in everything but ATK

    Evs I can't remember.

    Light Screen

    Reflect

    Psychic/Psyshock

    Baton Pass

    (or somesuch)

  12.

you mean pokebank? i wouldn't know about that, but you can just gen a shiny manaphy into gen 5 so poketransfer wouldn't come into it at all

You use Poke Transfer to transfer Pokemon to X/Y versions. I'm playing X, so I'd have to use that. I also don't own any 5th gen games, so I couldn't do it myself.

Well, I generated a bunch of completely obtainable, legal pokemon in gen 5 and transferred them over no problems.

Even one completely fake shiney shaymin(Legal techinaclly, but I never ever had a shaymin and could never have obtained one) and it came in fine.

only problem was Ditto, which I could transfer in. So, most likely you could transfer one right over with minimal fuss, if you made sure it was 100% legal in every way.

  13.

Let's...let's just say there is a Pokemon-inspired thing that uses humanoid females instead of Pokemon and it is just about the worst thing ever. It's best not to think about it. This Moemon thing seems relatively harmless, though.

Oh man, I forgot that some people can't go 2 seconds without turning everything that isn't a Moe Girl INTO a Moe Girl.

"Agh, this huge dragon isn't a cute girl?! Better fix that!"

I saw a youtube video of a very badly translated Crystal. They called potions drugs for arceus' sake! xD

EDIT: Is anyoen here apart from me watching TwitchPLayPokemon? RIP AbbbbbbkC and Jay Leno. D:

    Linky

I love the term they use for putting items in your Bag

    "Drug Bag ######"! ROFL

  14. Oh; I had initially figured that the intentions would be obvious when I mentioned Rattata, the prime suspect for it. xP

IDK, I think Aron is more populour nowaday for FEAR I would suspect, because of it's immunity to toxic and viability in the sand.

  15. Whiplash: Maybe this'll be considered a troll, but I had meant the FEAR variant, just out of saying that something that small does in fact stand a chance. =P Still counts, doesn't it? =P Only way it could go better is if it can learn Pursuit, and you predict the opponent switching, and still kill it. =P

Kinda, if only because you didn't mention it, as of right now I don't know how to beat the FEAR stratagy other then burning or poisoning it.

On a side note: I made a FEAR probopass named groucho I think it's hilarious.

  16.

Any Pokémon can be good if you train hard and love it enough.

    No, they really can't.

Eh, really depends in what setting and with who you battle.

true enough, it does, but he didn't give any context so I assumed the worst. I'm not Uber competitive or anything it's just that I like not losing a bunch of times because my speed on my crobat was really low due to it have a quiet nature, 3 IVs in speed and random investment in SPA instead of speed because of that spinda horde it ko'd that one time.

The fact of the matter is, when you play against other people you have to assume they breed and EV Train, which at the end of the day is gonna make their pokemon whip yours all day long. I wanted to play online (god knows why) and I had to take into consideration that and the fact that the guy I play the game with told me he was going to breed and ev train.

At the end of the day though, it all comes down to having fun. I don't want orcare about winning, but I do care about having fun, and I don't know about you, but for me having fun just means standing a chance and not losing instantly, I like pokemon for the stratagy involved and the fun of having some flaming monkey fight a dinosaur.

    Whiplash: Counter: Rattata.

this is probably gonna end up becoming some absurd troll but for lols I'll just say conkeldurr with drain punch would probably guaranteed 1 hit KO the thing even with full HP and def investment.

  17. in other news i've been hatching Porygons like mad hoping to get a 5IV one with Trace. i eventually got four 5IV ones... but they all had Download. in the end i just got an Ability Capsule because i couldn't be asked to breed any more but if anyone wants a 5-4IV Porygon i now have plenty. also if anyone would be kind enough to help me evolve mine it would be appreciated(i want a Porygon-Z so we'd have to trade twice btw).

I'm actually in the same boat as you. my porygon has download and I need to get an ability capsule.

after I breed my scolipede and ev train it and my doublade I'm gonna do that, then level all the poekmon I haven't fully trained to the level where they no longer learn new moves.

I've been breeding since I beat the game, and I had to make pokemon for my friend who was too lazy to do it. this is actually the first time I ever bred pokemon and I can safely say: I AM NEVER DOING IT AGAIN.

  18. ._.

    60?

    jeeze

i still need to get my entire team EV trained XD

not going to bother with IV's, unless a needed one (like, say, special attack on a Gengar) is pathetically low.

also should we set up some rules or something whenever we do this? Or at lest a date for when we do this? I could do it the week after next.

I really like smogon rules, however at the moment they have some kind silly stuff unbanned for "testing" and some people might get in a hissy-fit because they can't use their mega-kangheskahn to 1 hit the opponent's entire team.

  19. What moveset should my Eleckid have when i evole it into a Elctawire (thats the final evo, right?)? Its a pysical attacker, fvi.

    This is my electivre:

    Electivire - Hulk Hogan - Level 65

Item: expert belt Ability: Motor Drive Focus Nature:Adamant

    Moveset EVs 4HP/252ATK/252SPE

    ~ Wild Charge - TM

~ Cross chop - breed with machop line

    ~ Earthquake - TM

~ Ice Punch - breed with hitmonchan

This moveset hits 615 pokemon super effectivly.
