when Nine Inch Nails announced Hesitation Marks earlier this month, my first thought was literally "the only way this year can get any better is if Katatonia releases something new, and since they just had an album last year I know that's not gonna happen".

boy, am I glad to be wrong.
  2. Laughing Man
    just finished watching it

I guess it's to be expected, but it wasn't all that great

it wasn't necessarily a terrible movie, either, it just

the whole thing just seemed very uncharacteristic for L and I feel like they could've done a solo spinoff movie a lot better

like L generally just kind of doesn't go around in public showing his face and getting involved in high-paced action sequences involving bio-terrorists, he's a mysterious and secretive detective who solves impossible crimes entirely from his hideout

if I had to stack it up against Death Note and The Last Name, which I'd give a 3.5/5 and a 4/5 respectively, I think it'd probably get a weak 2.5/5 overall
  3. Laughing Man
used to be really into it but haven't watched any in quite a while

    recommend me some

I primarily like comedy and romance but I'm down with pretty much anything

not even kidding. I had one of these in my room and last night it exploded and almost started a house fire

smelled something burning and suddenly there was a loud bang like a firecracker and a flash of light and smoke and sparks started pouring out of the top of it

unplugged it and threw it away this morning. I didn't even realize it was still plugged in, I hadn't even used it in 10+ years

[originally published 5/18/14, updated 11/6/14, bumped 1/29/15 because I frigging love The Cure]

with the acquisition of the Join the Dots box set, I've pretty much finished off my collection for my favorite band, The Cure. I've got all the studio albums, all the compilations, the remix album, the 1978-2001 B-sides box set, and a few singles. really all I'm missing now are the live albums and DVDs, which I've never had much of an interest in.

all of these are the various US pressings except for Three Imaginary Boys, which is a Fiction European pressing manufactured in France, and Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, which is a Fiction European pressing manufactured in West Germany.

    left stack, top to bottom:

    - Three Imaginary Boys
    - Boys Don't Cry (American version of Three Imaginary Boys with altered tracklist)
    - Seventeen Seconds
    - Faith
    - fourth album idk I can say the name of on this website
    - Japanese Whispers: The Singles (collection of non-album singles and B-sides)
    - The Top
    - The Head on the Door
    - Staring at the Sea: The Singles 1978-1986
    - Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me
    - Disintegration

    right stack, top to bottom:

    - Mixed Up
    - Wish
    - Wild Mood Swings
    - Galore: The Singles 1987-1997
    - Bloodflowers
    - Greatest Hits (limited edition with Acoustic Hits bonus disc)
    - The Cure
    - 4:13 Dream
    - The Only One (CD single)
    - Sleep When I'm Dead (CD single)

on the bottom, joining the stacks together:

    - Join the Dots: B-Sides & Rarities 1978-2001 box set (4 discs, 70 tracks housed in a hardcover 75-page digibook)

    owned but not pictured:

    - Disintegration 2010 remaster on double vinyl LP

since at least one person likes to see these, how about a two-for-one.

this one's the more interesting of the two.

    top to bottom:

    - Pass Out of Existence
    - The Impossibility of Reason
    - Chimaira
    - Resurrection (2-disc limited edition with variant artwork)
    - The Infection (2-disc US limited edition with bonus track "Revenge")
    - The Age of Heck (censored for BZP; not actual title)
    - Crown of Phantoms (2-disc IndieGoGo campaign backer-exclusive fan edition with bonus track "New Apocalypse", reworked and expanded artwork, two custom guitar picks, and exclusive digital download copy with 6 additional bonus tracks and digital booklet)

though I was somewhat disappointed by their last couple of albums, Chimaira are easily one of my favorite bands to come out of the so-called "New Wave of American Heavy Metal", with their self-titled probably being my favorite album from that entire scene. because of this, I'd like to collect as much of their stuff as possible. I still need their debut EP This Present Darkness, and eventually I'd like to track down the 2-disc limited editions of The Impossibility of Reason and the self-titled as well as the European 2-disc special edition of The Age of Heck. sometime soon I also plan on ordering the Freddy vs. Jason, Masters of Horror II, Resident Evil: Extinction, and Saw VI soundtracks so I can get the tracks "Army of Me", "Threnody", "Paralyzed", and "Warpath", which are Impossibility of Reason, self-titled, Resurrection, and The Infection B-sides respectively.

the less interesting of the two.

    top to bottom:

    - Burn the Priest (2005 reissue; self-titled debut by the band under their original name)
    - New American Gospel (2006 reissue; first album released under their current name)
    - As the Palaces Burn
    - Ashes of the Wake
    - Sacrament (producer edition featuring bonus disc of song stems and multitracks)
    - Wrath
    - Resolution
    - As the Palaces Burn: 10th Anniversary Edition (2-disc remixed and remastered 2013 reissue)

not much else to get with this collection. I'd like to pick up the 3-disc Hourglass box set sometime (which I've seen for cheap and passed on, something I still regret) if only for the B-sides and rarities on the third disc. if I really wanted to be a completionist, I'd get the Killadelphia live album as well, but I've honestly never been much of a fan of those.

I really need to get some updated pictures of my large Smashing Pumpkins collection.

my only complaint is that people keep saying Tom Hanks played him, which simply isn't true. Tom Hanks was Woody in Toy Story; Sully was played by John Goodman.

other than that, easily one of my favorite Pixar characters.

I AM SO ANGRY THAT THE WRITERS WOULD DARE TO ACTUALLY DO THEIR JOBS AND WRITE NEW THINGS ABOUT A CHARACTER THAT I OBVIOUSLY KNOW BETTER!

THEY ARE RUINING THE SHOW BY NOT KEEPING EVERYTHING EXACTLY THE SAME FOREVER. I AM SO DONE.

sup dudes, dudettes, and wonderful in-betweens

that annoying thing known as life that some people may or may not have experience with is catching up with me and as a result I've found it necessary to cut some things out of it, BZP being one of them

there's no hard feelings or anything, it's just time for me to move on

I'll still probably lurk every once in a while and I may pop back in on special occasions (my 10th BZPversary coming up in a few months, for example) but for the forseeable future I won't be active

if you wanna keep in contact with me I've got a tumblr (scythey) and a twitter (scytheyyy) which I still regularly use. be warned that both contain NSFBZP language and content, however

it's been real BZP, I wish you all the best (those of you who aren't backstabbing sociopathic scumbags, anyway~)

decided to update and republish this, since yesterday I picked up the band's newest album. still missing the Call of the Mastodon compilation of early tracks, but I'll get that eventually.

from the top to the bottom:

    - Remission
    - Leviathan (Ozzfest Edition, sans slipcase which the used copy I got sadly didn't include)
    - Blood Mountain
    - Crack the Skye
    - The Hunter (unfortunately the version with "Blasteroid" censored, which I was unaware of when I bought it)
    - Once More 'Round the Sun

Xinlo already posted an entry about this, but hey, I figured that as an admin it's my duty to shamelessly plug it too.

    ..to tTH4!

tTH4 is the newest incarnation of the long-running and successful Bionicle forum the Toa's Hideout, which was originally founded by a group of BZPower members back in the year 2007. since then it has gone through several revamped incarnations, and we've had a lot of familiar faces among us over the years, including BZP staff and members of The Three Virtues podcast. an offshoot of tTH also briefly acted as an off-topic sister forum to the website Mask of Destiny.

while we're a primarily Bionicle-based forum similar to BZP, we pride ourselves in having a much more casual, laid-back atmosphere and a greater focus on off-topic discussion, of subjects ranging from music and movies to friendly debate and daily life. we also have features like customizable-by-request member titles and personal blogging subforums that are given to you once you reach 100 posts. we consider the site to be aimed more toward older members of the Bionicle fanbase, but younger members who want to join are certainly welcome as well. we invite you to visit us any time.
