100 points to anybody who get gets the title reference

anyway so I guess I didn't have to sneak, but I was in and out of the hospital this evening

it's ok I'm ok everything's ok, I just had kind of a potentially brain-damagingly high fever that refused to go down

they pumped me full of meds and fluids and did every medical test known to man

so far as they can tell it's just some kind of virus that should go away within a few days with the proper medication

every time I listen to this song by The Cure, I feel as though all light and joy is drained from my very soul

like seriously how can one song

be so full of complete and utter despair

I AM SO ANGRY THAT THE WRITERS WOULD DARE TO ACTUALLY DO THEIR JOBS AND WRITE NEW THINGS ABOUT A CHARACTER THAT I OBVIOUSLY KNOW BETTER!

THEY ARE RUINING THE SHOW BY NOT KEEPING EVERYTHING EXACTLY THE SAME FOREVER. I AM SO DONE.

    NEW VOLBEAT ALBUM.

mixed feelings on the title. it fits with their theme and all, but it doesn't really roll off the tongue and it isn't as cool as past titles like Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil or Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood.

title aside, it's pretty much guaranteed to rock in every sense of the word.

    so color me psyched.

OH. sidenote. just to make this relevant to people unfamiliar with the band. like all of their previous albums, it's being produced (along with Rob Caggiano of Anthrax fame) by Jacob Hansen, who also produced Cryoshell's debut album and all of their subsequent singles.

    just finished watching it

I guess it's to be expected, but it wasn't all that great

it wasn't necessarily a terrible movie, either, it just

the whole thing just seemed very uncharacteristic for L and I feel like they could've done a solo spinoff movie a lot better

like L generally just kind of doesn't go around in public showing his face and getting involved in high-paced action sequences involving bio-terrorists, he's a mysterious and secretive detective who solves impossible crimes entirely from his hideout

if I had to stack it up against Death Note and The Last Name, which I'd give a 3.5/5 and a 4/5 respectively, I think it'd probably get a weak 2.5/5 overall

prices listed are mostly approximations for the sake of convenience. a couple of the digital albums may have been a dollar or two less.

I think from time to time (read: whenever I feel like it) I'll do entries where I shamelessly plug amazing albums/songs that are available to download for free, legally, courtesy of the artists who created them

starting off with probably the most wildly inaccessible band of the bunch, The Armed.

anyone who digs really abrasive, chaotic hardcore punk/mathcore in the vein of Botch or The Chariot should look these guys up

their entire discography is available to download free in either high quality MP3 (320kbps) or lossless (FLAC) formats, complete with high-res artwork and digital booklets

they've got one full-length album, These Are Lights (featuring a spectacular cover of "Gave Up" by Nine Inch Nails), as well as three EPs: Common Enemies, Young & Beautiful, and the recently-released Spreading Joy, the latter of which is a likely contender for EP of the year for me.

as a side note, all three of their EPs feature former Dillinger Escape Plan drummer Chris Pennie, be it on only a couple tracks (in the case of Common Enemies and Young & Beautiful) or providing the drums on all of them (in the case of Spreading Joy)

it's really good stuff but really, really impossible to enjoy if you don't already have a taste for that kind of music.

    eeeeeeeeeeeeeee

first single from their brand-new album, to be released for listening this Tuesday, with a digital download coming January 3

    psyched

those absolutely horrid CD "cases" that are literally just thin cardboard sleeves that they somehow expect you to slide the discs in and out of without scratching them

    which is, like, impossible

seriously I have 3 CDs that just came out THIS YEAR and they're already scratched because of those wretched things
