    My math textbook has an odd thing about giving their example-people weird names. And I don't mean like inserting ethnically diverse names into problems for political correctness or anything- I mean there's a problem about one "Christopher Sparrow" building a roof using the Pythagorean Theorem. Then there's the one "Joseph Blackarrow" measuring the length of a river using trigonometry. Yes, they give full names for two example characters in the whole textbook.
     
    Why? No other examples get this treatment. They can be Bob or Sally or Brian or Sue or Billy, or maybe a Bartolo or Songan here and there. But "Joseph Blackarrow?" I think the writers just did this because they knew one kid per class (me) would get freaked out about it. They're probably looking at me now, laughing.
     
    "Oh, ho, look at little Wrinkledlion X! He cannot control himself! Aha, ahaha!"
     
    But I'll get them back. I'll get back by putting fake names in the "Issued To" column. Show them!

    I just ordered Gresh, Strakk, Berix, Zesk, and Makuta's Guide to the Galaxy.
    So I'm really happy right now... Though it's a bit strange to think that it all added up to $69. I miss the old prices.

Knowing that they're biomechanical creatures created directly by the Great Beings, I wonder if the wolves would be categorized as Rahi? Also, the introduction of elemental beings is interesting. While I'm enjoying the powerless characters thoroughly, having only a couple of beings with powers can recreate the sense of awe and impressiveness that the Toa had in the beginning. (Exclusiveness is the key.) Still, though, I'd like to see how this plays out. 
    I like that they're made of the elements themselves, too. Reminds me of Roboriders and Slizers.
    I wonder if there's any connection with the "Fire Entity" and the other elemental "entities" from Metru Nui?
     
    Also, I got Secret of Certavus at Borders today. Overall I wouldn't say that it's as good as JoT, but it's very impressive nonetheless. Visually intriguing (Though not as surreal as JoT, unfortunately) and with a clever solution at the end.
    If there's one thing I would recommend to Greg, it's that he try to maybe have a bit of the supernatural in some of the coming readers. He pulled it off beautifully in JoT with the Spectral Hau, and I'd like to see some more of that kinda stuff. Maybe Mata Nui should have a vision in one of the coming ones. I don't know. I just think it's a bit easier to put that stuff in the readers, and I always enjoy seeing it.

    Police Chief Hoobert. Not a lot of story behind him yet. I just figured I needed to draw a policeman sometime.
     

     
    The $tash, an aging pop sensation from the olden days. Despite being vastly uncool, he struggles to keep himself in the limelight and to keep up with the latest trends. He has, for example, moved into rap lately.
    His signature dance move, referred to as his "$tash Magic," involves pelvic thrusting accompanied with loud grunts.
     

     
    Witchitaw Slugboom, (The man who brought you light-up shoes!), is the ringmaster of the Electric Circus. He's like a technology wizard.

    Why do so few of them look like the character they're supposed to be? Certavus isn't supposed to be packing so many weapons. As he says, the mind is the best weapon. Or whatever it is he says. Something like that.

    And it's great to see the Chronicler's Company- I hope Taipu gets involved. He's so awesome.
    So I'm really loving 2009. Originally I wasn't too enthusiastic about RoS because it was detracting attention from Bara Magna, but this last chapter was so good that I'm truly excited about the MU for the first time in months.
