Judging by Lyger's sig and xccj's blog entry, it would seem at least too people are up-to-date on things .

    Let the games begin.

Okay, so I'm a day late. Sue me. Or don't.

Can't wait for 2010. The Vancouver Olympics shall be awesome.

    'Till the Lego store visit.

    Actually about 26, but whatever.

And less then 20 until I arrive at the convention.

    I'll see you folks tomorrow.

So I heard it's like, Christmas or something.

Merry Christmas! Unfortunately we can't celebrate yet because my dad has to work today and he won't get home until 7:30 or so. But we did celebrate yesterday at my grandparents' place. German Christmas is on the 24th for those of you who didn't know.

So we've got this really stupid math project on proofs of the Pythagorean Theorem. We're in groups of two and each group has been assigned a proof. Then we have to make a big poster that includes a model and explanation of the proof, a biography of whoever invented the proof, and what Pythagorus' obituary might have been.

Didn't I tell you it was stupid?

Anyways, my partner was sick the class after it was assigned and I was to lazy to do any work on it and it's due tomorrow and we just started today and it's 11:30 pm and I'm incredibly tired.

I also need a decent Mac paint program but the only decent one I've found can't open for some reason. It's the fifth I've tried. I need to find one tonight because I need it for the model.

I could of course just go to bed and get up really really really early tomorrow but that would probably be an even worse idea.

kk I should probably go back to working now.

    Goodnight.

So I might be going to see them on Thursday.

Haven't bought tickets yet (or rather a ticket) but I'm thinkin' about it.

Ordinarily I probably wouldn't go, since I'm not a huge fan, but this might be their last show ever, so I'll probably never have a chance to go again.

Talk Like A Pirate Day be tomorrow! Now I want to hear y'all talkin' like pirates on the nineteenth, or y'all gonna be walking the plank! Savvy?

'Cuz a pirate is free, yar!

    Unless 'e's walkin' the plank.

    Lego
I've been wanting to get a copy of the original WALL-E set for a while now. This morning a local independent Lego store got one in and I couldn't resist!

The box is in absolutely mint condition, like it just came off the shelf - and it's staying that way! Won't be building him anytime soon, if ever. He was a bit pricey, but I traded in a few sealed sets that I had duplicates of to make the purchase more palatable.
Now I need to get the new Brickheadz version!

I've wanted one of these since 2006. It's safe to say that Bionicle collecting today isn't what it was in those days, but I'm still immensely happy to be able to add the elusive brown Komau to my collection:

This was a lucky BrickLink find. Immaculate condition, bought from the original owner who got it from Lego headquarters in Billund. Goes nicely with my Metru blue Matatu 🙂

Now to track down the white Huna - anyone have one to sell? 🤣

Once again, I am reminded of how fantastic Flintsmith's work is.

For any non-ancient members, Flintsmith makes custom pieces, especially Kanohi and other collectibles, in both plastic and metal. His pieces are virtually indistinguishable from official pieces, and are quite highly sought after by collectors.

    Thanks again Flintsmith!

Yup. Both Vancouver stores and the Edmonton store are hiring so I'm applying.

As for why I'm applying in two cities, I'm thinking about going back to Edmonton in January for university. If I get hired in Vancouver, I probably won't go back to Edmonton, and vice-versa.

I seem to have lost a small bag of BrickArms containing several purple and blue sci-fi weapons, a camouflaged sniper, and some sort of tan gun (can't remember exactly which, but it was a prototype). I also can't find my Series 2 surfer.

I think I've PMed a few of you about this but if I haven't I would appreciate it if you could take a quick look through your stuff, as I think I put in someone else's bag by accident.

    Thanks.

    It's awesome.

Yeah, I finally got it to work on our old computer. Or rather, my mom got the Interwebz to work on it. I finished it in three days (didn't play it at all on the second day, so more like two days), with a little help from the walkthrough. Only on the Pyroku Stones and the Mazes. I had already finished the first part at least four times.

So I don't feel like writing a big long review of the Con so I'll just say it was awesome. There, I'm done.

I should probably also say that it was the best convention I've been to so far.

Oh, and I won the three chrome Star Wars minifigs. Yay!

Also PEOPLE MEETING. I got to see a bunch of people for the first time in a year or six months and got to meet Alsru, HH, Tufi, and Arkov for the first time.

You know, Bunda, you sounded an awful lot like Darth Vader (from Star Wars, not the Bloggie) in your reply when you said "Accepted."

So yeah, my late entry got accepted. Huzzah.

Now I can look forward to being eaten with my rushed MOC, which has a few colour issues. It's not too bad, though.

EDIT: I just realized I had two "Categories" blocks at the bottom of the page. Strange.

So I actually finished my entry and submitted it on time. The feet and upper legs were just built a few hours ago and are not quite how I imagined them, but I'm pretty happy overall, especially considering I haven't done any real MOCing in a few years.

Here's the entry picture, and here's the gallery when it's public.

There's less than a week left in the entry period for the BFTGM contest, and I'm starting to run out of useful pieces in the correct colours. Unfortunately, I still have a pair of titan-sized legs to build.

It looks like I may have to take apart some MOCs that have been together for a few years. But all in all, I'm pretty happy with my entry. Here, have a picture, and another, and another.

Found some Protectors at a TRU today. I bought Water and Stone. They also had LOSS, but from what I've seen I'm not impressed with LOSS.

It's pretty cool to be buying Bionicle again after half a decade. I didn't get any of the Stars so it's been since 2009 for me. And the only HF set I ever got was a free one at BrickCon this year, so it's really been five years since I've gotten a constraction set of any kind.

In other news, I'm moving to Edmonton in a few days for university.

Some of you may know that I'm a musician. My instruments are flute and string bass, but I also do a fair bit of arranging and transcribing for fun. My current project - and one that I just started a few hours ago - is this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vLByq36ENg

I'm sixteen measures in, or about 30 seconds, not counting the brief intro because I don't like it. Since I have no sheet music at all to go off of, I'm transcribing every note by ear into a music notation program called Finale. Those first 30 seconds took me about two hours. It's very time-consuming.

To be honest, I don't think I've ever actually finished a project like this after starting it. But it's a great exercise in ear-training.
