Experimenting with more Galidor pieces. I don't imagine anything coming of this specifically, but I think these pieces have an interesting look.

I need more of these threes. Seems like this could be some kind of magic/future/steampunk generator or drive thing.

I have a bunch of MOCs that I've made over the past several months that I just haven't posted because I actually like them and I want them to be represented by decent pictures, and my marginally-upgraded Tracfone isn't the standard I have in mind. So I've only shared a couple of pictures of some of them. One of them is Doggo (Brickshelf gallery when public) who I've only posted a few silly images of in other places, but isn't assembled anymore because I decided to take the upper body and use it for a Cat Noir build. So there's the images of what there was, because Doggo might not be built again for better photographing.

Speaking of Cat Noir, I think I managed to figure out a workable head for him thanks to Aanchir's suggestion of using bananas as hair. It may not be at the scale I'd like it at, but it's something. Too bad he won't be done for this year's Convention Circuit superhero theme (at least at first) because I need to order some of the parts from BrickLink. I recently ordered some Galidor parts from a seller and they got lost in the mail somehow (either mis-delivery or theft upon delivery), so that kind of killed my enthusiasm for that temporarily, so it might be a while. I'm also waiting to get the Star Wars constraction Chirrut figure, because he includes a light flesh #3 CCBS shell that I want to use as the face. It's a shame that the Exo-Force arms don't come in tan and that tan banana pieces are so expensive (there were only two included in one Harry Potter set a decade ago) because flesh face with tan hair would look way better than tan face with yellow hair.

The image attached to this entry is a quick thing I built to go with a set of legs I made using Galidor pieces and the Star Wars CCBS shins. Those I'll use on Cat Noir as well.

Other things I've only teased elsewhere and some I haven't shared at all. Some of them go together so I want to post them all at the same time.

Going to be shipping the usual stuff for the Convention Circuit again, but with the addition of my mini SYSTEM Makuta head, Chompy, Roodaka, and a BioniLUG thing. I don't think I ever fully showed off Roodaka, just once a while ago and then at BrickFair 2014. Pretty sure I've made some changes since then so that'll be a thing to see I guess. I won't be sending Golden Key on the circuit because I feel like he's run his course and the tenuous stability of his head build isn't worth the trouble. I'll probably keep him around for a while though, since I don't see any big need for any of his parts right now.

So that's that I guess, not much else to say on the matter. Still building, still enjoying it, but preference and circumstance keep me from sharing much of it outside of a few snapshots here and there.

(Oh and I'm starting more work on my LEGO Ideas proposal, so that's something too. Future!)

Looking to build this fella, have the body basically worked out but hit a massive wall when it comes to the head.

Anyone know of any good techniques for things like the hair? Or even the head overall. It should be about 1.5x-2x the size of the average Kanohi to be accurately scaled to the body.
  5. Bfahome
    Yeah.

It was really brief, but apparently the owners had just merged it with Brickshelf all those years ago instead of taking it offline but nobody had realized, and all you had to do was append something to the Brickshelf URL to access all of it.

    I miss Majhost.

Been planning to send my MacBook in to get its battery replaced since I updated to Sierra. The suggested cycle count after which to consider replacing it is 1,000, and I'm over 2,000 now.

(I have been using this laptop for five years, so I suppose this being the first maintenance performed on it is a good thing.)

One of the things the Apple site suggests is backing up all your data before any repairs, in case of problems.

So I bought a 1TB external hard drive off of Amazon. Perhaps it's a bit overkill, but it wasn't much more than the smaller ones and I wanted something I could also use in the future.

Anyway, I split it into two 500GB partitions, one to use as a backup for all the Mac stuff and one for all the Windows stuff on my Bootcamp partition. Still a bit overkill, but hey it's nothing that can't be repurposed down the line.

The payoff here is that I named the two "disks" Tikki and Plagg and here they are.

TV show unrelated. Good chill music.

I also recommend a couple others I've posted before if you have similar music tastes as me and need to listen to something mellowish.

    Hey look, it's more Wolfgun.

Since it's Halloween, here's some music that's at least marginally thematically appropriate.

Just watched someone (Coestar) play Oxenfree, and I have to say I am very impressed by it. Visually, I get the same impression as I get from FEZ: the base graphics are very simple, but what the game does with and to those graphics make it look very impressive. Story-wise it's a very interesting take on a supernatural plot, and I didn't really know what's going on until the end… and even then not entirely.

This isn't really a review because I didn't play it, but I found it interesting. So whether you play it or watch someone play it, check it out I guess.

I recently updated iMovie because it promised support for high-resolution and high-framerate videos. After updating, though, I discovered that I would have to update past OS X Mavericks to actually get the update with this support. So I grudgingly updated to macOS Sierra, missing El Capitan by a couple of weeks. The end result is:

    - My battery life has plummeted, and the recharge time has skyrocketed.

    - My Safari was automatically updated, which I had specifically been avoiding because the new Safari UI is garbage.

    - The on-screen volume control indicator is now completely opaque rather than mostly transparent, which is great if I want to adjust the volume while watching something!

    - Sticky Keys no longer recognizes a single push for clicking; previously I could hit the command button and then click a link to open the link in a new tab, but it no longer recognizes this as a command-click.

But at least it allowed me to update to the latest iMovie with all those cool features, right?

    - iMovie no longer allows custom title fades, so every bit of text will fade in and fade out in the exact same way.

    - iMovie no longer supports 4:3 exports, so if you want to make a 4:3 video you have to export it in 16:9 with black bars on the sides.

    - iMovie no longer allows you to simply highlight portions of the timeline, taking away an easy way to delete portions of a clip.

    - iMovie no longer has little pop-up windows for the clip editing features, instead sticking them all in a little bar over the playback window. So I can't even easily tell how many of those survived the update.

So yeah, if Bfa Plays ends up looking a little different and weird for the rest of its run, that's why. And if I never want to update my software or OS again, that's also why.

e: GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! Turns out the update didn't overwrite the old iMovie, just replaced it. The old version is still available to use, it's just not immediately obvious. So only today's episode will look weird.

Finally got around to seeing it a couple of days ago. And then again yesterday. And then again tonight.

(My Netflix trial runs out today, so had to get a few viewings in while I could.)

I'd looked up the story a while ago because I was kinda eh on whether or not I'd end up seeing it, so I mean it didn't exactly blow my mind in that respect, but even so the plot is intriguing. And pretty much everything about it was great, especially the character animation and voice work.

Only significant complaint would be the big obligatory pop song. I don't think the lyrics are that great.

Would recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it, though, especially if you already have Netflix or are going to get it.

Hey in case you missed it before, I've got two shirt designs up on WLF's Fan Forge. Basically they're candidates to be made into shirts based on how well they're rated.

They're both Miraculous-themed, because that's how inspiration works for me.

The first one is based on Cat Noir's "Cataclysm" attack and is a pretty simple black and white design that I've chosen to display on a few shirt color options.

The second is Ladybug's yo-yo and Cat Noir's staff just sort of sitting around, a bit more complex in color and design and again shown on a few shirt colors.

So yeah, it'd be helpful for anyone who can to give them a rating, even more so if you actually like them.
