I'm typing this a few days before the set publish date, because that day I'll be busy, but I feel like it would be a good time to take a moment and look back. No, this is not me announcing my departure or anything like that, it's just something I really wanted to take the time to say.

I've met and talked to a lot of people online over the years, and a good deal of that activity has been centered around BZPower and the BIONICLE fandom. I've had other interests, of course, but those have come and gone, and I've never invested as much in anything as I have in my LEGO hobby and the community around it.

I didn't start on BZP. I didn't have my own email address (or any at all) until the beginning of 2008, so I started on wikis like BIONICLEsector01. I had a good run on there and made some friends. Cholie, Exo Malakai, Varaka, The Alchemyst/PoI, Bioran, Lihyahm, and all the rest of those people I can't quite remember because it's been half a decade. It was a great time.

But then I joined BZPower, and I slowly lost interest in the chronicling and got more into the discussing. Here I met others who shared my interests, or shared some interests with people who shared some of my interests, or just happened to be in the same AIM group chat I was in. Really, the people I met through "bzplol" were my friends for the first couple of years here. Teebert, Wrack, Necro, Ran/DX, Taka-Tahu-Nuva, Arch-Angel, Kopakalaka, Lluvio, Disky, and others (I feel really bad that I can't remember everyone). I had so much fun talking about Code Lyoko or politics or whatever else on the spectrum came up. I really miss it a lot.

A lot of you (yes, you, all the people I've just listed, and all the ones I've forgotten) aren't around BZPower anymore, and haven't been for a while. We haven't talked for years, I don't know how to contact you, you've probably changed in that time (and so have I), and you may want nothing to do with me anymore.

However, I have something to say to you.

    Thank you.

Middle school and high school are usually marked by obnoxious angst and social awkwardness. But they're also a time when you're really becoming who you will be in life. It's a lie to say that nothing else has affected me the way this community has. I've had pretty major events in my life that will no doubt define me forever. But to say that you've had no effect on me would be as equally wrong.

I feel confident, however, in saying that I wouldn't be who I am or where I am today had I not met you all. You were people I could talk to about my interests, people I could stay up until 2 or 3 AM chatting with about whatever came up, people who were there and put up with me. Those moments were worth falling asleep in school for. I may have never seen some of your faces or heard some of your voices or even may never have known some of you as anything but a screen name, but you were willing to give me a chance.

So to you, the people who in many ways welcomed me to the internet, I say thank you.

    Thank you for everything.

It's popped up on Facebook a few times (thanks Aanchir) and what I saw was superheroes and adorable things, so I was like sure I'll see what's up. Saw it originated in France and figured that was a good sign, since my experience with French cartoons has been exceptionally positive.

So over the past couple of days I watched the existing season, and found it very enjoyable.

    Except for one little thing.

In my post-watch info scrape I found out that apparently the placeholder voice for Cat Noir was Matthew Géczy, and though I like the final voice actor I am a bit sad that I was this close to having my two favorite 3D French catboys voiced by the same person.

I had entered a board game design into Hasbro's recent game contest, and this is what it'd look like and how it'd move. Didn't make it past submission phase (though they were nice enough to send an email to those not selected so we wouldn't be left in suspense) so I'm sharing it.

Basically the game is based on a planetary gear system where the outer annular gear is the board's base and the sun and planet gears make up most of the playing area, with the connections filled in on the rotating carrier.

Didn't have much of a plot worked out (probably the reason it wasn't chosen) because the contest deadline was the day after graduation (oh btw I graduated from college) and this wasn't a high priority, but basically you're in some kind of magic shifting dungeon and you need to get out by finding the four keys and getting to the exit. The four keys would be on spots in the middle of the planet gears, and the exit would be the center of the board.

The gimmick is that in some circumstances (around 1/10 of the die rolls) players would have the option to rotate the board, the motion of which you can see in the video. This would move the position of the planet gears and cause them to rotate, scrambling the paths. Players would stay on their spots, meaning they'd be moved too. There are four possible board orientations. Also the global orientation of the center technically never changes but it looks cool when it's turning so shut up.

Player motion would be two spaces per turn maximum (chances are about 50/50 one space or two) so there should be plenty of opportunity for "revolution".

As for the video, it's just a SolidWorks motion study of the basic gearing system, so it doesn't stop at any of the playable positions. Basically whenever the arrow on the middle circle is pointing "up" the board is in a playable position. The triangle cutouts were there initially to demonstrate how the system turns, and then the board decals I added later for the contest submission.

Maybe something will come of it some day. But I doubt it!

...all the BIONICLE references. Well, not real references, but you get the point.

    Geometry:
Whilst learning about sines, cosines, and tangents, our teacher gave us a neat way to remember the sides that correspond: "SOHCAHTOA". When you say it, it sounds like "soak a Toa".

    Spanish:
When we were learning to conjugate the verb "ir" ("to go"), one of the forms, the "yo" ("I") form, is "voy". So I figured that, if I wanted to say "I go Nui" en español, it would be "Voy a Nui".

And in our spanish book, our teacher was kind of reminding us that "v" and "b" sound the same. One of the book examples was: "botar/votar"

I swear, they know. They're out to get me. To drive me insane. But I'm too smart for 'em. I already am insane! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!! >8D

    Yeah.

208 of my recently acquired Creeper head blocks.

(The other side being a Creeper face made of faces on a green backdrop vs. this Creeper face made of green on a backdrop of faces.)

At this point, I'm out of or nearly out of many of the staple parts I use when I build, so now is when I just sort of throw any bits and pieces together regardless of color.

I can't even make one of them. let alone six.

The armor is sort of taken from an idea I had a long time ago for armor additions to Inika bodies. Used it on one of my "MOCs" back then. But now this design is a different version, changed to fit my current odd desire to build custom torsos based around the McToran body piece.

(This is me releasing all my pent-up creativity from being in school and away from my beautiful mess of a LEGO collection.)

Ah, insomnia is a beautiful thing. Especially when one has one's laptop by one's bedside.

    A Random Poem
All last night I wouldn't sleep,
    I tried to stay awake,
I'd make it 'til the break of day,
    No matter what it'd take.

I get up and sneak downstairs,
    My footsteps make no sound,
    I open my computer to,
    See who was around.

I logged in to my account,
    And typed this random song,
But I'd better hurry back upstairs,
    Before my mother comes along.

I wrote that as it came. Pretty good, eh?

    Pros:

    - Seems like it's basically Firefly for kids
    - Decently animated
    - Steve Blum
    - The Inquisitor is literally Admiral Zhao
    - Sabine fulfills my "character with cool helmet/mask" quota

    Cons:

    - Some model designs look a bit silly (Wookies, lightsabers, Darth Vader)
    - Seems like this one group is the center of all activity in the galaxy
    - Not only do I really want to make a Mandalorian helmet now, I also want to give it all kinds of cool functions

    Yes, I got it yesterday.

I've already taken some parts off to test, then put them back on. It's just too cool to cannibalize. *bites*

An here's the awesome review that isn't mine.

    I am happy.

Breaking the trend of these entries having the name of the song in the title because "Emergency" is probably one of the clickbaitiest titles I could give an entry. Don't do clickbait, kids.

Also because this song is relevant too, since it's been my signature for the past few months:

"New" being a relative term, since at this point it's been around for about a decade.

But anyway, I've long thought that this was a very strange piece. Two of the sides appear to be flat, the other two are rounded, and one end is slightly tapered. All these things combine to make it so that you need to pay extra attention to which way you're attaching these together if you want a consistent look. Is there some reason for it to be made this way that I'm missing? Maybe the molding process? Can't tell. All I know is that it looks weird and I don't understand why it is this way.

Does anyone else feel that way? Or have some insight as to why it is?

I'm thinking of doing a 400th post special. Only 10 posts away!

What should I do, my Gali Nuva revamp, my Vohtarak revamp, a couple of Matoran I made, or a little spaceship thingy?
