I got to watch The Princess and the Frog for the first time yesterday. What a great movie! The music and story are entertaining, but the highlight of the film is the gorgeous animation.
Though movies like Bolt and Tangled are great too, Disney truly shines when it sticks to traditional 2-D animation. Unfortunately, I don't think kids are as entertained by this old style of animation as much as they used to be. This is why Walt Disney Animation Studios doesn't release movies like The Princess and the Frog and Winnie the Pooh as often as they used to. Computer animation just tends to be more popular.
I hope Disney continues to release more traditionally animated films. I like the pattern of the last few years, where they alternate each year between computer and hand drawn animated movies. This year we get the computer animated Wreck-It Ralph. I can only hope we get a 2-D animated film next year, but it seems they already have another computer animated one in the works.
I received the first Super Mario Galaxy last Christmas. It's a wonderful game, and I was able to get the first one hundred or so stars rather easily.
Now I only have eighteen stars to go before I unlock Luigi, but these last stars look like they'll be really hard to get. They're all Purple Coin challenges, Speedy Comet challenges, or Daredevil Comet challenges.
I have to beat Bouldergeist, without losing one point of health?
I use GIMP a lot. It's the only program I use for creating graphic art, and it does a wonderful job.
Weeks ago, I downloaded the G'MIC plug-in. I heard it contains useful filters and effects, but I never used it. Yesterday, I finally clicked on G'MIC.
IT IS AWESOME.
I should have used this weeks ago! It contains really cool filters, and I'm excited to try them all out. I haven't even tried to see what they can do if I change the filters from their default settings, but I am sure it will be great. A bunch of new possibilities just opened up for me.
I have delayed making my "official" return to the BZPower for a while. I have been hesitant, because both this website and I have changed during the downtime, and I just did not know where to begin to re-enter the community.
I will be spending more time on the forums from now on. I won't be posting in as many topics as much as I used to. Instead I will shift my focus more towards the artistic side of BZP, by posting signatures and other forms of graphic art, which I greatly enjoy. I have learned some new things during the downtime, and I hope I can create some pieces of art the community will appreciate.
I also plan to be more active in the blogs, and I should have a new name and some art to spruce it up here soon.
In the meantime, I hope everyone has been doing well, and I'm glad to be back!
Tomorrow will be my four year anniversary of joining BZPower. I have been quite inactive here lately, but I have not forgotten this place. I am proud to have been a member of such a great community for so long.
I'm a graphic artist. I haven't made a serious drawing by hand in years, and I've never tried to draw a LEGO character. Yet, I got the urge to draw a Hero Factory character last night. This is Cute Evo, my first drawing ever on BZPower: Give all the advice you want. I could use it!
